You put a smile on my face every day with your sincere way of showing the true and best way to emerge in the balinese life. The best sate ive eaten was from an old lady sitting in the gutter faning the hot coals in sanur to produce sate babi and saucs kecang that was to die for. Keep up the good work mate 😊
Wow-memories came flooding back to me when I saw your satays. I had stayed out all night and by sunrise hadn't eaten. Sat down outside an Indomaret with my local friends and ate the best satay I have ever had. Your videos are informative and entertaining. Kasih banyak Wayne 🙏🙏
Your indo vocabul;ary getting pretty good mate, and it looks like you got the numbers as well, they seem to understand you you so you are effectively communicating, despite what some people claim Indo is actually a difficult language for us Australians because they put the emphasis on the end of words rather then Australians who tend to cut off the last bit of our words and the emphasis at the beginning.. And they really appreciate a foreigner who tries the language because most dont and expect them to speak english, so you shouldnt be embarrassed by any means. Anyway, just a couple of tips if I may, the "a" in indonesian is always pronounced "uh", and clearly emphasise the last part of the word. But enjoying your videos, if you like street food then try Java or Sumatra next maybe.
Appreciate the tips as always, ian - thanks. I fully understand my Indonesian is cumbersome and that I have less than a basic grasp, however, you touch on a really important aspect to it - people really appreciate the effort in the trying and as a consequence warm to you. I started to wonder why my portions of food started increasing. :) Indonesia's a big place with lots to explore. Thanks Ian.
Hi Jonesy. It's not very good, it's actually quite bad, but the locals do seem to appreciate the effort - it gives them a bit of a laugh. :) Good to see you.
Another enjoyable video. I really like your outlook for Bali. Hey just a thingy. As you like balinese. Try using suksma ( thank you) mewali (your welcome) ❤❤❤
Hi foolishness. I'll sit anywhere to eat good food. :) Thanks for the bahasa Indonesia compliment, I constantly feel completely useless at it. Good to see you.
Really enjoy this video - we are in Bali 4 - 5 times a year and always seeking out authentic warungs to eat at - favourite in sanur is warung odah Perak that has the best nasi campur for about 20000 idr! My friends who also visit Bali talk about eating at large western resorts and wouldn’t dream of eating at a warung in a gang and certainly would never consider street food - well I think they are missing the gold of the people and the authentic food. Btw- blackbird is difficult to play you did well 😊
Hi Steven. i definitely understand how people who are on their annual holiday want to enjoy nice things and relax in pleasant surrounds and, well, spoil themselves. But there's an atmosphere and engagement you have when eating locally that can't be had when at tourist restaurants - you've obviously discovered this yourself. We'll just have to suffer with it ourselves. :) I'm blaming my poor rendition of Blackbird on the guitar, Steven, not my peerless expertise on the instrument. LOL
Did it say Petulu at the bird statue? Then it's a heron. I found this: "The Cranes of Petulu Bali A strange, natural phenomenon occurs each evening in the village of Petulu. Thousands of white herons arrive here around 6:00 pm to roost for the night before flying off again in the morning. The birds first began coming here after a communist massacre in 1965." That last sentence is very intriguing.
I didn't see anything written on the statue, but that's a really interesting find, ninettemurk. I just read the birds apparently represent the souls of those killed in the massacre. interesting stuff - thanks!
Hi travelrat.Thanks. Only way to get better at it is to try, I guess - and It makes for a bit of a laugh for the locals.. :) Hopefully the embarrassment won't last for too long. Thanks for dropping by.
10 pieces for 10k rupiah ? Whttt, that's lk less than 1 Australian buck, Anyway in Jakarta or other cities 10 pieces are 2 or 3 bucks ,, while in US 10 pieces could cost you like 10 to 15 bucks
Hi AnDi. Yes, it's pretty good value it has to be said. I find Ubud to be pretty good value, and there's no comparison to costs at home, that's for sure. thanks for dropping by. Cheers.
Hi, mohdriza. He's toward the end of Jalan Raya (The main road that runs past the palace and central markets) before you get to the big statue on the left hand side. he sets up out the front of an Indomaret convenience store. Thank you.
You will find that eating at the street stalls or khaki lima as they sometimes call them is far more sanitary because they prepare it right in front of people. Its when you got a restaurant there you taking a chance because they prepare it out the back.
@@ian-f5f Hi ian. i agree. While I think things have improved in recent times, some of my worst eating experiences have been in tourist restaurants. Good to see you.

Hi Julia. Where would we be without our Indomarets? :) They have come to our rescue at all hours. Good to see you.
It's so great that you can speak some Indonesian when interacting with locals - fantastic!
It makes it a lot of fun, Leannes. People kind of open up to you a little bit as well. Cheers.
Great videos

John, that's really generous of you to contribute in such a way. Thank you!
That's sate Madura, most popular chicken sate in Indonesia. Better served with lontong(steam rice in banana leaf), cut chilli and cut raw shallots.
Izzah, that sounds like a really nice way to eat sate. Thanks.

Tasty sate I am sure. So you got used to balinese germs and bugs so far? No diarrhea for you, mate?
Hi rufftoj. Very tasty local sate. Very rarely I might get a rushed trip to the toilet but the last time must have been a couple of years ago.
@fiascodagama1 I guess you have blended in very nicely. Have fun, mate. I love your videos. Keep them coming.
