Native Balinese here. I say, good for people like him who make "western" income to live in Bali. But it does sting a little LOL. The legal minimum wage in the richest regency in Bali is just 3,318,628 IDR or around 209 USD/month, a lot even get paid less than that. But then I felt a little meh when I heard he didn't have any locals in his team? (correct me if I'm wrong, I listened to this while doing other things).
These people are selfish and don’t care about how their actions affect other people. The US is trash so they run away from it and go destroy someone else’s country.

That's true. Most of "digital nomads" here are just grifters and cheapskates. They don't even pay taxes and don't contribute to the locals in any way. Most of them make less than $5K a month and live like they own the whole island 😂 and do you know how most of them make their money? As you said, coaching 😂. I live in bali with my balinese wife for decades. I know the reality.
I also run an agency among some other businesses and investments. CNBC goes through a stringent verification process so the facts are definitely checked. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
As someone interested in entrepreneurship, this felt more like a lifestyle flex than valuable content. Running 3 different e-commerce businesses is impressive, but we barely got any insights into HOW. Also concerning that while benefiting from Bali's low cost of living, there's zero mention of employing or developing local Indonesian talent in your 19-person team. The digital nomad lifestyle is great, but shouldn't we aim to contribute more meaningfully to the communities hosting us? Would love to see CNBC Make It focus more on actionable business insights and sustainable, ethical entrepreneurship rather than just showcasing villas and pools. The real value is in the how, not the what.
As Indonesian (I'm Javanese from Yogya btw), I hope that the video doesn't make lots of people want to move to bali, actually now Bali is facing overtourism and it could affect so many things from socio-culture to environment, etc... yes we actually still need tourist to visit, but if there are too much people move to bali (as we already have now) there will be potencially even more problematic, Bali is a tiny.. tiny.. tiny.. small island compare to other parts of Indonesia, so please just don't think that It is a paradise for foreigners to live.

It would be more thoughtful to exercise greater care in selecting talents for your RUclips videos. Promoting the idea of moving to Bali may not fully consider the challenges faced by locals. Many Indonesians are already struggling to find employment, and some behaviors from foreign visitors in Bali, such as establishing businesses without proper oversight, disregarding traffic rules when renting motorbikes, or engaging in public disturbances, have raised concerns. His discretionary spending alone, in one month, cost more than what I spend in a month in the states. 🤦🏻♂️
This guy has that drive to make it big for himself.
I kind of find this info so fake.. i live in Indonesia and it doesnt cost that much
He just goes to the tourist spots so it's going to cost more
Maybe don't compare your life with someone else's life whose always eat in cafe/restaurant.
I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks against next year. Hope to make millions in 2025
Since risk is at an all-time high right now, perhaps you should be a little more patient and return when it has decreased. Alternatively, you can consult a trained financial expert for strategy.
Yes true, I have been in touch with a brokerage Advisor. With an initial starting reserve of $80k, my advisor chooses the entry and exit commands for my portfolio, which has grown to approximately $550k.

Wonderful story. He was able to turn life hardship into a focused and momentum driven financial freedom plan.
hope you pay tax to indonesian goverment
I love the spirit of this young man. Keep going!
Congratulations Steven! 🎉
Kid genius.. becomes a millionaire. I love it. Good job
At first I was wondering what the “$1942 discretionary “ was. Then I saw he has a girlfriend 😁
🤣
Seriously please wear a helmet when riding a scooter here in in Bali 🤯
The budget doesn’t add up 🤔
Right!
$530 a month for food in Bali doesn't make sense, unless he's always high end places. Also don't understand why he's paying for American health insurance abroad, when it's probably cheaper to just pay out of pocket.
You don’t disclose everything. The idea is it is possible 😊
@@har795 I heard parts of bali now is pretty expensive. Ive seen some youtubers move to bali and they all say the same thing in terms of bali not being the cheapest country in asia anymore. Then again Im sure hes living in a more gentrified part of bali so its probably why it cost so much to eat. Equivalent to staying in the "Beverly Hills" part of bali or the rich area where they can jack up the prices
@@Tkenny35 Bali is the Ibiza for Australians, it’s probably cheaper than Hawaii, but Iiving in a tourist town doesn’t sound that much fun long term.
Good for you, steven. Working hard and smart pays off.
Are you paying Taxes for business ?
He will certainly get to billionaire status one day for sure.
I am from Indonesia but has been living in Southern California for the past 20 years. I always want to live in Bali and has business to support my life. What kind of business do you suggest if I want to move to Bali ? Thank you
Outsiders should be banned from owing any real estate in bali....otherwise it would be like Barcelona.....where locals would even strive to live in their own area.
Only Indonesians can buy land. Foreigners can buy a long lease though like 25 years.
🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐
If this is a personal advertisement intended for public viewers, at least set a good example by wearing a helmet, especially when you and your friends are riding scooters in these clips! Honestly, I don’t care how much money you make or whether you wear a helmet in your daily life. However, since you know this content will be public, show some respect by following basic safety rules.
Thank you Steven for sharing💓 I know you work so hard in all your business and it’s not easy! Keep going, I’m really proud of you and your work.
is the food halal ? easy to find ?
no, it's not. Don't come !
Cool what made you choose medjool dates?
Average wage in indonesia is $4,800 a year
1 million in bali money = $64 dollars
Wow amazing . Greeting from Banyuwangi East Java near Bali😊
Did he paying a tax too ? Or just coming with VOA ?
Nah...
Halo, Dirjen Pajak Indonesia 👋🏼
Nope, he earns his money outside of the country and pays PPN on what he buys in Bali
Sacras 😅😅😅
Her mom migrated to the US to provide her kids with access to quality education and a better life. However, he chose not to fully leverage the opportunities that education offered, eventually leaving the US to settle in a developing country. It's an intriguing decision, but I respect the hustle.
US is a developing country now unless Trump can really deliver on his MAGA promise
He went to UC Irvine which is one of the best school in US. That's probably where he built his technology and computer skills. Businesses are very global now, he probably sells his products in US and making money from US citizens which means he is leveraging his US connections. The richest man in Hong Kong Lee Kai Shing sent his son to Stanford and that's where he learned technology to build one of the largest technology company in Asia. Knowledge acquired in US can definitely be applied worldwide.
bali is great until you need a medical specialist appointment, their health care standards are not the same as the developed world
It would be more thoughtful to exercise greater care in selecting talents for your RUclips videos. We hope future content can reflect a more balanced perspective on this matter.
E commerce is scalable! That’s for sure! Especially compared to traditional onsite businesses.
Nice guy and has earned his successes so far in life
This is really inspiring!
People! I hope you would stop yourself from moving in to Bali, as a tourist? Yes please!, as permanent residence? Please no!... Thank You!...
This guy is a baller and he deserves every bit of success.
Irvine and coming from humble beginnings seems like BS
1.2juta per bulan utk sewa scooter.
24 juta per bulan utk uang kos.
smh....
You can get a brand new scooter for 20juta rupiah in Bandung.
You can get a beautiful home in Bandung for 500 juta rupiah. Your rent for 21months in Bali. Pannacota Colony pertiwi land, Bandung.
as an indonesian, i think, it is better to remain in California
You can see SpaceX launch every day....
Udah pernah tinggal di US belum cuy? Tahu gak seberapa mahalnya
Out of all the financial institutions on RUclips you are the only one who gives the easiest way to get rich. Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of the society in the country as very few are literate on the subject!! I appreciate Wrenley Alexander the lady you recommended to me.....
*I always wanted to trade for a long time but the volatility price has been confusing.*
My dear, everyone needs a different stream of income. Such as where one can invest some parts of his or her monthly salary.
Wow, it is truly inspiring to hear how Ms Wrenley Alexander, mentorship and dedication led to such remarkable financial success.
You're right! The very first time I tried, I invested $2000 and after a week, I received $8,200. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
My little investment of $12,000, which was part of my salary, really help in growing our business, just withdrew my profits a week ago, To be honest it was an amazing feeling when the profits hits my wallet I wish I could reinvest but, too much bills
bayar pajak ya
if everyone saying bali is cheaper than in their country? what will bali gonna be tho.... here for locals its already expensive than before.
not to mention the traffic jam these days omg............
Why don't you push your politicians to not let these ppl inside your country?? Indonesian government offers many packages to foreigners like this. Which is why they are ruining your place for you
I am wondering if the Indonesian Tax Office is aware of this kind of income
Dude figured it out. good for him. I'm doing the same thing except in Europe.
STOP GENTRIFYING OUR FKN COUNTRY!!!
Does he pay according to local tax law tho? Does he lawfully stayed in Bali with non-tourist visa tho??? Sus..
From B Asian to A Asian
Bruh
so🤔😃
foreigners that come live in Bali push the cost of living higher for the locals. the locals are struggling with the influx of these people
that's the drawback of globalization and convenient air travel the internet and just online business that is a reality now.
such a good looking guy, dayum
Really? 🤣 I thought he looked wimpy... like he should wear a shirt while surfing 😅
@@sharpsticksnz4112 he's definately paying for his "Girlfriend" out of that “$1942 discretionary “ in his budget...
more like a con artist. not even a single trace of middle class on his face. probably there are more to this than what is being told here. no way a young man like him can make 254k a year running just 3 small not known e commerce. also people like him who move to bali just for exploitation shouldve been banned or limited for a max of 1 month stay. the bali government is such a pu55y. lots of shady guys in bali as well doing transactions.
Bali is great. Hope he is paying local taxes
Of course not 😂
@ exactly !!! So the ending about contributing back to Bali society is disingenuous
@@mamaandharry4573 that's just an empty talk. I bet the owner of the luxurious villa he lives in isn't even a balinese lol
What’s his job or graduating major?

Why are so many people negative in the comments . If it’s not for you then move on. I always love a good immigrant story being an immigrant myself 🤷🏾♀️
THEN PAY TAXES
@ clearly our education system has failed us 🤦🏾♀️. I live in U.S. and have been paying taxes since age 18. I too am a business owner and always pay extra taxes at the end of the year… you’re welcome ☺️
Many Indonesian people doesn't care about his net worth. What makes us dislike was the fact that he (based on the videos) doesn't pay taxes for our local government.
He can create thousand of startup by his own hands, but remember local people there are paying taxes, but he's just chill and enjoy his $254K net worth a year without thinking too much about taxes.
@@andresinaga9885yeah, so many losers from first world country wants to enjoy luxurious life in South East Asia, not even contributing to help locals to create job for them.
Lil bro lives in Bali
ZOT ZOT! Too much partying at UCI with that low GPA? At any rate, employers don't care about your GPA. Nobody asked about mine.
Just imo feels like I'm watching an ad.
I am also moving from germany to Bali. because germany is so expensive now
I can understand for housing and utilities but 539$ for food? what kind food do you eat? gold?
Please CNBC stop perpetuating this kind of scheme. Indonesia is not a safe haven where you can exploit the loopholes to live your paradise with little to no benefits to its society. If you still decide to publish this type of scheme, put more emphasis on them paying local taxes and helping local economy rather than just “living out the dream.”
All his costs seem high. I live in Brazil and our current exchange rate is almost $1 to R$6 Brazilian Dollars (Reais). Indonesia should have a decent exchange rate.🤔
Really good video
he is a nice kid he deserver it
Now, i wonder how these people affect local Balinese? Can someone make story about this? Gentrification perhaps??
The owner of the house in Bali is not that smart. He can easily rent it out on a daily basis for 300- 400 on Airbnb. why rent it out to three lovers for around 100 per day
And mostly this fellas they dont pay correct Visa & Taxes in Indonesia
