Yep, I come from third world country but Bangkok is considered developed and modern for several reasons:
      1. **Infrastructure**: Bangkok has a rapidly expanding public transportation system, including the BTS Skytrain, MRT subway, and Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The city also has extensive road networks and ongoing construction of new expressways.
      2. **Technology and Innovation**: Bangkok is a tech and startup hub in Thailand, with continuous advancements in digital technology, such as 5G, Smart City initiatives, and the development of cutting-edge software and applications.
      3. **Economy and Business**: Bangkok is an economic powerhouse with fast-growing industries, foreign investments, and the presence of many multinational corporations. It serves as a key financial center in Southeast Asia.
      4. **Lifestyle and Entertainment**: The city boasts world-class shopping malls like ICONSIAM, Siam Paragon, and EmQuartier, luxurious hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife, making it a global destination for entertainment.
      5. **Education and Healthcare**: Bangkok is home to renowned universities and hospitals, offering advanced medical technology and education to enhance the quality of life for its residents.
Thus, Bangkok is not only a city rich in cultural heritage but also a modern metropolis leading in various areas of development in the region.

In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. This is the type of thing I support. Going where things work for you. This guy found the place that works for him, and many people in the comments echo his sentiment. I'm happy for them. I also love that everyone is different, and I can live in the north central US, where COL is low, the landscape is subtly pretty, and car infrastructure is widespread (I enjoy driving). I'm someone who appreciates geographic diversity, and the northern plains is perfect for me, specifically on America's population divide, where I can go east towards the many large cities of the upper midwest, but also west, and be in the mountains in less than 5 hours. I love snow and the cold, and could never live in the south. This is far from everyone's perfect reality, some want large cities with more job opportunities, while others want small towns where they know everyone and have a higher degree of privacy and control over who they interact with. Also, some people never want to deal with snow, while some think it's the only thing that makes winter fun. I think the ability to move somewhere that you like is one of the most straightforward ways to deal with many problems, and I think a lot of people know what they want, but they know less on where they can find that stuff. Keep traveling people, you might find your favorite place, even if you think you already found it.

*The market is pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.*

Hey, man, you became aware of your deeper needs and were able to realize that you could make a radical change to accommodate them. That alone is far beyond the capability of most people. You’re now, at a young age, living in accordance with your own values; you’re living YOUR life. I’m 75 and love to see young people figure things out early on. Enjoy it, guy, you’ve done well.

Wonderful story. A heck of a financial journey. Not only is financial literacy not taught in school, neither is financial arbitrage. To have the ability to be in a country with a strong currency, then use that currency buying power in another country where it can do more, go further, and be able to live more comfortably is priceless. May everyone find their happy place.

I lived in Bangkok for 6 years, from about the age of 32 to 38, working remote as a software engineer.
I like the overall vibe there, I feel that in America people are not content and that bleeds over into all the small interactions you have in America. While that alone might be good enough reason to live in Bangkok Thailand, the air pollution was too much of an issue. You basically shouldn't breathe the air there and that weighs on you more.

As an Amercian, I know I wouldn't be content living in Thailand or anywhere in SE Asia or anywhere in Asia, for that matter. If I were to move, I'd go to Canada or Europe. No way would I go to Asia. I don't even care to visit any part of Asia, much less move there.

I love Thailand every time I go there! As much as sometimes I want to move to Thailand or Vietnam, it’s really hard to leave the US. Mainly, I’m an outdoor person and Asia just doesn’t offer the same type of scenery, terrain, and activities the US has to offer. It’s such a beautiful country and geologically diverse country that very few (or even none) other countries can offer. Every time I drive up and down the PNW, I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to live in this country.
With that said, happy for you :)
