As a married woman it’s great you are supportive of your partner being as financially independent as she wants. Even in Canada where I am, people seem to assume I’m not financially contributing when I definitely do or if they find out I am more wealthy than my husband when we married they dislike that. You have a good dog. Thai women expect that a guy will be the provider, and they lose respect for you the second you're not. They also take care of their family and if you marry them, you'll be expected to help other family members take care of elderly parents. The good news is that Thai families are very accepting, as long as you are good to their daughter. Helping them financially will be a delight. The jealousy thing is a little scary IRL. Don't date serious Thai women if you're a player - stay in the bars and have you fun with the bargirls. Twenty-nine years of experience here, and I think you have a good read on Thai women as well as Western women. After my tour in Thailand it ended in Phuket where she attended university. By the next morning I needed to get my laundry done. I asked security if there is a place outside the hotel I can get it done (hotels are notorious for charging by the piece). He told me next to the hotel there is a lady who does laundry. I went to see her she took the clothes then gave a price. My friend grabbed them from her. Told me she will get them clean. Unknown to me she actually went back to her dorm room and washed my clothes then brought them back later. I was surprised I told her she should not have done that. She said the woman wanted too much money (150 bahts at the time).

Bro bro - Briefly saw a snippet of your workstation at the beginning of this video. Being that you spend hours in front of the screen, I'd recommend getting some sort of laptop stand that elevates it to head level so your neck doesn't suffer later down the road. In addition to the laptop stand for elevation, perhaps get a separate full-sized keyboard so it sits under the stand for added comfort to aid in your tasks. Got to look after our digital nomad lifestyle ;) I moved to BKK last year to do short-term real estate biz and am in Thonglor area. Hope to bump into you soon brotha.
Great video Paul! I understand in Thailand, it’s a culture where the girl expects the boyfriend to take care of them. However, what’s your opinion if a Thai girlfriend asks or expect you to help pay for too many things? I.e. bills, items, etc
I think Thai women expect men to pay for bills (if you’re living together), and food and dates etc. But I think it’s a red flag if they constantly ask for expensive lifestyle, gifts, and allowances (like a sugar baby).
Unless you and your girlfriend are engaged to be married, do not support her financially! If you do, there is a chance that both of you could end the relationship but you will not get your money back! Gifts of money at your own will is OK but if it becomes a condition of your relationship then get out!

You are still new Paul and your opinions will no doubt continue to evolve over time and you are surely influenced by the woman in you life. Everyone is influenced by the people they meet here in Thailand and usually that is a very small subset of people who speak English and make their living off foreigners. With over 70 million people here and tens of millions of visitors there is every type of person you can imagine. The only question is whether you can find your group here. Personally I prefer sports, gyms, classes, groups and organizations over online, clubs, bars and shopping areas. My only advice to anyone is take it slow, learn the language and don't fall victim of your own ego. If you are a 2 don't believe that you have miraculously turned into a 10 overnight.

The 8:00 mark is the best perspective actually. I have lived in Asia for 8 years and you hit it on the head. Nothing serious, but just looking for people to hang out with, have fun, party, & meet new people. What are the hotspots in Chiang Mai? Bars/clubs, things to do, restaurants, etc? For Krabi, I'm assuming it's just resorts & stuff, so I'm guessing the only potential there are just other tourist.
Krabi is nice. I visited not too long ago. Really nice scenery landscape. Close to many different beaches and islands to visit. Fyi They do have alot of halal food bc there is more of Muslim population the further south you go in thailand.

Good video. I would add unless you are just on vacation and want a good time, like the video says, stay away from the red light women in Bangkok. They are beautiful and are on social media and often are the profiles that leap out at you when looking for dating in Thailand. They are very experienced in getting your money and they often live lifestyles that would make a far left women in the west blush. They are not the conservative women that most foreigners think when they think of asian or Thai women but they will act that way to take advantage of you. They will also play on your belief that because you are foreign you can get them and date them, even though very attractive. Meeting regular women though this video is very true.
If you date a woman properly in the west, you will find they typically want to be the girlfriend after 2 months, and yes, they do fall in love more slowly. The above mentioned all depends upon if she's looking for a relationship and she has a good history and background. This means it's like finding a needle in a haystack. Thailand it is.😅😂😅
If I'm going to be brutally honest.. South Asian men are probably among the bottom of the list of desired men in Thailand and they(and to some extent, Middle-Eastern men) have a bit of a low reputation here. But! Nothing that can't be overcome. Might need a bit more work, but I believe as long as they can prove that they are nothing like the stereotype, they will be good. I have no idea when it comes to black men.

I think you should make a video about the red flags to look out for. Because, you gave suggestions that can lead men to run into a lot of trouble with dating Thai women. If you dated enough in Thailand then you know there is a high probability of meeting bar girls and freelancers who are on these apps hustling. While you mentioned some red flags, I don’t think you mentioned enough. I wouldn’t recommend dating on Tinder because depending on where you are aka Pattaya majority of the women there are going to be bar girls and freelancers on that app. Even in Bangkok there are a portion of women who are involved in all of that and men should be aware it’s not all sunshine and rainbows as you make it out to seem, likely not intentionally, I get that. But, it should be brought up and men should err on the side of caution & have their guard up until they figure out what kind of women they’re dealing with. Most of the women on those Facebook groups sharing men who they’re dating also tend to be freelancers and bar girls or they know a lot of those girls. It’s mostly used to communicate about those men as clients to those women. I’ve seen plenty of convos from those groups and that should be a red flag if the woman you’re dealing with is in there. This is why I personally prefer Filipinas but everybody is entitled to their own preferences I suppose.
There are a multitude of red flag videos already and they don't seem to help. Besides the more you focus on what can go wrong the more likely something will go wrong.

It is hard to generalize when it comes to dating. It depends on age, looks, personality, confidence and where you hangout. What worked for me during my 20 single years in Bangkok wouldn't work for someone else. There are just too many variables.

I am a foreign woman who is friends with many successful highly educated Thai women who own their own companies, who are in international finance, who are recognized artists, and who are accomplished in their fields. And no, they are not cooking and cleaning for their western partners. They have nannies and other staff to take care of the household needs which gives them the time to pursue their professional and social lives. They would find your point of view regarding Thai women insulting. Of course, this is not your intention I am sure. But please do not forget that there is another Thai woman who does not fall into the category you describe, just like there are different categories of women in all the world. It just depends on which pond you swim in.

Traditional culture is much more complex than sex or no sex. Traditional cultures often have prostitution but that doesn't mean they approve of it or don't care. You are still new Paul and your opinions will no doubt continue to evolve over time and you are surely influenced by the woman in you life. Everyone is influenced by the people they meet here in Thailand and usually that is a very small subset of people who speak English and make their living off foreigners. With over 70 million people here and tens of millions of visitors there is every type of person you can imagine. The only question is whether you can find your group here. Personally I prefer sports, gyms, classes, groups and organizations over online, clubs, bars and shopping areas. My only advice to anyone is take it slow, learn the language and don't fall victim of your own ego. If you are a 2 don't believe that you have miraculously turned into a 10 overnight.

Do you have experience anywhere else in Thailand other than Bangkok? I'm going to Chiang Mai & Krabi soon for my first time in Thailand, and I'm trying to figure out how to meet women over there. Nothing serious, but just looking for people to hang out with, have fun, party, & meet new people. What are the hotspots in Chiang Mai? Bars/clubs, things to do, restaurants, etc? For Krabi, I'm assuming it's just resorts & stuff, so I'm guessing the only potential there are just other tourist.
Krabi is nice. I visited not too long ago. Really nice scenery landscape. Close to many different beaches and islands to visit. Fyi They do have alot of halal food bc there is more of Muslim population the further south you go in thailand.

Good video. I would add unless you are just on vacation and want a good time, like the video says, stay away from the red light women in Bangkok. They are beautiful and are on social media and often are the profiles that leap out at you when looking for dating in Thailand. They are very experienced in getting your money and they often live lifestyles that would make a far left women in the west blush. They are not the conservative women that most foreigners think when they think of asian or Thai women but they will act that way to take advantage of you. They will also play on your belief that because you are foreign you can get them and date them, even though very attractive. Meeting regular women though this video is very true.
If you date a woman properly in the west, you will find they typically want to be the girlfriend after 2 months, and yes, they do fall in love more slowly. The above mentioned all depends upon if she's looking for a relationship and she has a good history and background. This means it's like finding a needle in a haystack. Thailand it is.😅😂😅

If I'm going to be brutally honest.. South Asian men are probably among the bottom of the list of desired men in Thailand and they(and to some extent, Middle-Eastern men) have a bit of a low reputation here. But! Nothing that can't be overcome. Might need a bit more work, but I believe as long as they can prove that they are nothing like the stereotype, they will be good. I have no idea when it comes to black men.

I think you should make a video about the red flags to look out for. Because, you gave suggestions that can lead men to run into a lot of trouble with dating Thai women. If you dated enough in Thailand then you know there is a high probability of meeting bar girls and freelancers who are on these apps hustling. While you mentioned some red flags, I don’t think you mentioned enough. I wouldn’t recommend dating on Tinder because depending on where you are aka Pattaya majority of the women there are going to be bar girls and freelancers on that app. Even in Bangkok there are a portion of women who are involved in all of that and men should be aware it’s not all sunshine and rainbows as you make it out to seem, likely not intentionally, I get that. But, it should be brought up and men should err on the side of caution & have their guard up until they figure out what kind of women they’re dealing with. Most of the women on those Facebook groups sharing men who they’re dating also tend to be freelancers and bar girls or they know a lot of those girls. It’s mostly used to communicate about those men as clients to those women. I’ve seen plenty of convos from those groups and that should be a red flag if the woman you’re dealing with is in there.
This is why I personally prefer Filipinas but everybody is entitled to their own preferences I suppose.
There are a multitude of red flag videos already and they don't seem to help. Besides the more you focus on what can go wrong the more likely something will go wrong.

It is hard to generalize when it comes to dating. It depends on age, looks, personality, confidence and where you hangout. What worked for me during my 20 single years in Bangkok wouldn't work for someone else. There are just too many variables.
It’s easy to generalize because we look in general. The factors don’t all carry the same weight and you control for them. That’s how comparison and generalization it works.
@@villagefarang Generalizations have merit -- high school dropouts occasionally become millionaires, but generally speaking, most millionaires are well educated. In that vein, some Western women are approachable, feminine and worth pursuing. But as a rule, Thai women are MUCH more worthy.

I am a foreign woman who is friends with many successful highly educated Thai women who own their own companies, who are in international finance, who are recognized artists, and who are accomplished in their fields. And no, they are not cooking and cleaning for their western partners. They have nannies and other staff to take care of the household needs which gives them the time to pursue their professional and social lives. They would find your point of view regarding Thai women insulting. Of course, this is not your intention I am sure. But please do not forget that there is another Thai woman who does not fall into the category you describe, just like there are different categories of women in all the world. It just depends on which pond you swim in.

But to your point, successful women (and men) hire staff because they have money. The average Thai working class family probably isn’t able to afford as much staff, so they might resort to the tradition of the woman/mother taking care of the house, while the man works more.

Traditional culture is much more complex than sex or no sex. Traditional cultures often have prostitution but that doesn't mean they approve of it or don't care. They just accept that bad things happen but prefer to ignore it and not shine a light on it. There is so much going on under the surface here in Thailand culturally speaking that it is hard for a foreign to see or understand.
Traditional means sticking to the particular traditions of that culture.

I spent 3 months in Thailand this year. The vast majority of Thai women don’t want anything serious. The biggest problem is that most girls are full time freelancers, part time freelancers or previous freelancers. You don’t want to end up in a relationship with these types.

The best way to approach Thailand is to not enter into any serious relationships since most of them are freelancers, part-time freelancers or ex-freelancers.
