I also checked your blog out since I wanted to learn more about removing the special offers from my Kindle, and surprisingly, it worked on the first try! I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!
Great review. I totally agree with you about getting this particular model. Though I do use the text to speech feature a lot. I haven't done much with audiobooks because they can be expensive. I got the white model to help break up the monotony of having so many black devices and it looks more like a book page. Turns out that the white model doesn't show scuff marks as much either. I got a simple flip cover to help protect the screen, and I agree that the case helps holding the device much easier. The resolution isn't really much of a factor for me either. I don't think the basic models gets the recognition it deserves.

This is the best review ever for the Kindle basic. Absolutely spot on with your observations. This is so much better to hold than the flush glaring screen of the paper white. Can I ask what’s the model of the gel case? You solved the problem with the back plastic plate with that! Lots of grip.
Not sure about the model but I just searched Kindle Basic 2019 clear case and it popped up. 😊

I bought the White, no ads Model recently as an "upgrade" for my trusty old 4th Gen Kindle, still going strong after 11 years and sold on eBay.
I totally agree with what you say about the Basic Model. I just need a decent reader and this fits the bill completely.
I did have it in a case, but have swapped that for a sleeve (for travel purposes, it goes with me everywhere.)
And the White model. Zero fingerprints. If I ever buy one in the future (I suspect they plan to bring one out this year) if there's a white option, I'd definitely go for that option.
Whether it'll last as long as the 4th Gen remains to be seen.

Great review! I think I’m picky as I really didn’t like the logo standing out on the paper white nor the uneven border sizes (just seemed ugly to me and I didn’t like using it). Just ordered this one and it looks more premium IMO and doesn’t have a glaring logo at the bottom like the paper white. And it’s cheaper/lighter/smaller, amazing.

So my question my kindle gen 4 has buttons on the side to turn the page. This one in your video is it a touch screen? And can you adjust the brightness if the back light?
Yes this one's touch screen, you turn the pages by swiping left or right. You can adjust the brightness as well.

Yes I download the ebook on my phone from the browser then open through Kindle app. You must have the Kindle app as well. This works for iphone. You can also email the ebook to your Kindle email address as an attachment. :)

Yes! You can change the font, add notes and highlights, and lookup in the dictionary with a mobi ebook. :D

Yes you can put pdfs but I recommend converting to mobi or epub for better formatting 😄

Yup. There's nothing like a "shut down" option, but you can turn off the screen by holding the power button and selecting "Screen off" :)

Yup, you're not required to subscribe to anything upon signing up. But I suggest creating an Amazon account on a different device as it's faster. Then just use your login details on your Kindle. 😄

Kindle basic doesn't have dark mode. Paperwhite has. :)
Is this still worth buying now? I have a tight budget and I'm planning on buying a Kindle. I've been using my dad's old Kindle Keyboard 3 (came out like 11 years ago) for couple days. I find it suitable for my needs and it's great, except the battery is barely lasting one full day.

What cloud? Your Kindle account? The notes and highlights you make on your Kindle device are also saved in your Kindle account so yes you can also view them on the Kindle app :)

I do use the same website to download my books for my iphone, although if i download them on the iphone with mobi type, how do i do to open it in kindle? because that option doesnt come up !?

Hi! Do you have the Kindle app on your phone as well? If not, download it then you'll have the Kindle option when you "Open in..." your downloaded ebook. Hope this helps!

Hi! Yes, if there's a dictionary installed for that language you can press and hold on a word and you can look it up using that dictionary. Kindle has a couple of built-in ones: English to Tamil, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. Not sure though how to add a new one! :)

Yes! I only turn on the wifi when I'm syncing ebooks, once they're downloaded I go offline. 😊

Yes, for books you can sideload by sending the mobi file to your Kindle email, or transferring via USB using software called Calibre. Haven't tried Calibre though cos it's more convenient for me to send via email.
I have no experience with audiobooks tho so I can't comment. Although I think it's better to listen to audiobooks on your phone than to load them on Kindle 😄
