So wonderful to have this. Paddy Moloney, Derek Bell, Martin Fay, Gay Byrne are no longer with us: all wonderfully talented people who added so much to our Irish culture and heritage. ☘️💚🎶
I'm watching this video in October 2021 in the middle of Covid. I remember IIT back in 1987 It's still riveting viewing. Paddy Moloney has died recently. God rest him!! His music with the Dubliners will never die. This is what I would want in Heaven!!
Paddy Moloney and John Sheehan from the Dubliners know each other well as far as I know they were in the same class at school and had the same teachers ..!! And often played together @@Rungrandad

great musicians in the chieftains...some fabulous arrangements....samhradh samhradh was beautiful with the arrival of spring, summer, autumn then dying away as winter approaches...can hear the birds singing.....
I saw the Chieftains on their "Tears of stone" tour in 2000. Every one of them signed my CD inside booklet after the concert ---Derek refused, so I just wanted to have a chat with him but he just walked away. :/

Planxty motzart shows how well Irish traditional music mixes with classical music and Gary Moore's over the hills and far away shows trad mixes well with heavy metal too.
Look what can be achieved when protestant and Catholic come together . Fantastic music stories and craic . Derek Bell is a legend some character sadly missed along with Gary Moore RIP
Gary Moore is fantastic . As is the song over the hills and far away. The chieftains also appeared on a song With ultravox called all fall down. Another class song. Video is on RUclips. It's worth looking up
Those Friday nights watching aul Gaybo doing his thing were fantastic. Especially these anniversary episodes: Chieftains, Dubliners and even U2. Look at the pathetic dross that Turridy has made out of the current late late: hollywood celebrity tv interviews, finishing off with the usual weekly hard luck story. All for the salary of 500k
May I ask what year this was recorded? And I hope Paddy was half an hour in heaven before the divil knew he was dead.😢 What a truly brilliant musician and band.
I Met Christy Moore In Lisdoonvarna When I Was A Teenager. I Ran Away From Home And Rode A Honda 50 To Doolin Through Westport In The West Of Ireland. I Gate Crashed The Lisdoonvarna Festival All Those Years Ago. It's Obvious That Christy Moore Has Not Changed.
A lot of people thought my late dad was stuck up or above it all but in reality he was just reserved. He would talk to pepole and he'd a killer sense of humour but he didnt show it to everyone just, to those he was closest to.
Absolutely incorrect. Rock n' Roll is based on Irish musical timing derived directly from Irish traditional music export to the USA from the 19th and 20th century.
Genius of Irish music, all of them, thank you .

Evoking music of the traveling minstrels and troubadours of yore. Beautiful and nostalgic. Very grateful for this music and dance tradition.

As a pure television production that was incredible and put together for peanuts. US and UK TV pros look in awe
The video Paddy Moloney mentions for over the hills and far away is on you tube. Search for the song title.

Sorry but I just can't abide mixing rock 'n roll with traditional Irish music. Elvis Presley and the tin whistle just don't get on together.
