I’ve seen Van and I’ve seen the Chieftains. Unfortunately I never saw them together. I loved hearing their joint recordings. Love Van’s albums from this time in the 80s though Astral Weeks still remains his masterpiece. I’ll stop raving on now……. ❤☘️❤️☘️❤️
I absolutely love this so wonderful song in the Garden...the musicians play so well, the words are so interesting and true. I love Nature. This Beautiful Song must be dedicated to OUR MOTHER NATURE. Thank you All for putting a most beautiful piece together. And I love all the Songs that follow.....
This man may be not very known to the public at large, but he is the real deal. Music is in every cell of his body. One of the greatest soulsingers in history bar none, and I am not even talking about the 300 or more songs he wrote, of which at least 50 are all time classics.
I guess Van is widely known by the broad public, subconsciously, especially cinema goers/lovers, as he has contributed many of his songs to many movies!
Love this live rendition of Did Ye Get Healed. Such an incredibly romantic song which was a new song at the time. It’s wonderful to play when I’m on a drive with my lover.
You're an inspiration to all of us that cannot do what you do.....thank you for sharing that which many of us feel...but are unable to Express...you're a legend ! 😁❤
So many hours of Irish soul mixed with Celtic beauty and folkin' rock that one wonders why so much great live Van concert music remains unreleased. Thanks for this beautiful Van and Chieftains' set, Alan. Peace from Ohio, USA.
Parts of this (first three songs, Carrickfergus, and Goodnight Irene) are among the greatest musical performances I've ever witnessed. There is no one like him. Actually, his singing reminds me of George Jones' (I could pay no higher compliment to either of them), but Van's musicianship and charisma are unmatched. This is a spectacular document -- thank you for posting.
mifraidin1 I just came across this video. Pure Gold. You couldn't more right with your comparison with George Jones. I keep thinking someone might come along and replicate Van & George's voice and style, but no one has yet. Peter Gabriel comes very close and is amazing live. I don't really think anyone will and if they they'll never get the recognition because of all the other crap that passes as music today. Thank god that RUclips exist so we can see these remarkable concerts.
van`s voice is an instrument..totally unique and a one off.....marvellous mix with van and the chieftains..a blend of north and south of ireland with even the sash thrown in! wonderful.
God i love this song, only heard on cassette in hospital in jan '79. Nice to hear it again. And with 'Rave On, John Donne,' a treat. And the Chieftains...where are the snow of yesteryear?
I would’ve loved to have been there… I listen to Van from I was 13 years of age along with probably everybody I knew at the time… great musician, not such a great human being really really disappointed by his behavior during Covid him and a few others Eric Clapton to name one. They both let the mask slip a little more than i cared to see.
With a little equalization (i.e., crank the bass, reduce the highs) this is quite listenable, and a thrill for someone who listens mainly to recent VM shows (because he's still freakin' great) but to hear some of the early NGNMNT material and Rave On John Donne is awesome, thx.
Seeing you in a white dress and I Don't remember ever To be so impressed holding your hand in mine look you in the eyes and follow the prompt You have the beauty of a snow flake.. hold my hand my love and cut the cake.
Amazing version of Moondance. I am blown away. 🍀
The Celtic Moondance a fascinating creation.
My fave version.
Don't leave until you hear the Gaelic music. Can I have just more moon dance with you my love.
Two of my favorites The Chieftains and Van the Man.
RIP Paddy Moloney
Three things that I will miss when dying: sounds of nature, sounds of animals and sound of Van Morrison♥️
Beautifully put (tears)
So true.
Listening to music like this reminds me that there is a loving God. Wherever I’m going in the next round I’m certain the music will be playing.
Amen ❤
Better seek JESUS THE ALMIGHTY

He is well known.
I disagree. Way more than 50 of his songs are classics.
Van is a true artist. Writes, sings, plays all his own songs. He is such a joy to listen to.
A great and loving, Powerful Poet, like from the days of old......
Genius at work. ❤
Incredible
Love this live rendition of Did Ye Get Healed. Such an incredibly romantic song which was a new song at the time. It’s wonderful to play when I’m on a drive with my lover.

When you have been as great as Ivan Morrison you have earned the right to churn our self-indulgent tosh like this
I'm speechless!!! 😊
Thanks for sharing, great show!
Thank you for posting. I taped this concert off Channel 4 many years ago, no longer have a VCR. It's great to see and hear it again

POR DIOS NO ENCUENTRO MI DISCO DE CHIEF......DÓNDE LO PUSE? QUIEN ME LO ROBÓ? LO TIENE YOU TU BE? ???☺😇
Raglan Road followed by Celtic Ray shows how Van mixes his work with the best of Irish tradition and can get away with it.
Not the first time the Ulster Hall has heard the strains of, The Sash My father Wore.
I saw this show at the Albert Hall that year, and it remains one of my greatest musical memories
I'll tell my ma when I go home the boys won't leave the girls alone. Stile my comb, she is preety the girl from Belfast City.
Absolutely 😮

What a brilliant rendering of Moondance - a great alternative to the original. Should have been included on the Irish Heartbeat album.
43:53 .....what a delightful gem!😎
Going to take another stroll down down, sometimes, Irene goodnight, ill see you in dreams. Ramblings out there was, a fine.
