    I just ordered Orbi AX4200 RBK752 from Bestbuy as it was on sale ($349). It has one router and one satellite unit. Hoping this should be good for three story house (two stories and basement).
    Everywhere I keep seeing how main sq ft it will cover. By that measure this two unit package should be plenty for me. But what I am not sure is how good it would be to pass thru the different floors of the house. My modem is on top floor. Need a strong wifi in basement too.
    Saw this at local Costco, but felt three units would be overkill for my needs. After watching your video thinking the great return and support policy of Costco.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 года назад +1

      I would highly recommend buying the one from Costco or Amazon with the 2 satellites for a 3 story house unless you don't need wifi in the basement. I have a two story but due to the structure I need 3 instead of 2. Walls and other obstructions can reduce the speed/connection so the boost from the satellites helps. Best Buy has gotten better about returns but not like Costco and Amazon have. If you just want two satellites then go with the AX6000 it'll have more boost and bang. Hope this helps

      Sorry somehow missed this. For Spectrum 100Mbps I recommend the Nest Wifi. Depending on how big your house is, you'll need various pack sizes. For 3,000 sq ft most of the time the 2 pack is enough but you can always get a 3 pack to be sure.

    I have one important question. Do you know if the connection must be router to each satellites or it could be router to one satellite and satellite to satellite? The packaging image shows the second option, but it could be a misleading marketing image. I currently have RBK 53, also got it as 3 pack from Costco. But I found that if one of the satellite is too far from router, it cannot connect. So my testing is connection cannot be satellite to satellite for RBK53.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 года назад

      As far as I know you cannot do this. One is setup as the router and the other as satellites. I could be wrong but I don't see how the router can be converted into a satellite. With Google Wifi you can just take a 3 pack and add it all as 3 points (satellites) but with the new Nest Wifi and with Orbi 6 you have one designated as a Router.

    Love your reviews. I am looking at what to use to replace my Wifi system. I have a large L-shaped 7000 sqft home and currently use 6 Google Home Wifi 'pucks', each connected to the router through a wired ethernet. I don't feel I really need a 'mesh' system as every access point is hard-wired but the google home system is just so easy to use. Recommendations would be just great! I'm looking at the Costco deal on 3 of these and wonder whether buying 2 packs of these would be a good solution, whether it is overkill and whether the 'router' in the second pack will even work as an access point. Thanks!

      @@Zachus Thanks for the rapid reply. Wow, those 6E devices look great - I like the idea of the 2.5G wired backhaul. They're crazy expensive especially considering more than 3 but they kind of put me off making any changes right now - just wait for that technology to become more mainstream. Honestly, we're going fine with the Google - I just struggle with speeds slowing right down as I move through the house. We have 500MB to the house and I get 350MB through the Wifi when I'm in one place but as I move, it doesn't do a great job of switching from one access point to another. Even though I'm right next to a different access point I can get speeds as low as 5MB for a while before the switch happens. As soon as it does, I'm back up to 350MB, which is plenty for me at the moment. Thanks again.

    Hi @Zachus, great video! Any reasons for choosing nest wifi for spectrum internet (100 Mbps) especially when Costco Orbi is almost at the same price as nest wifi-3 pack and has wifi-6 over nest's wifi-5

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 года назад +3

      Nest Wifi is around $250-270 and the Orbi at Costco runs $429-500 nearly double the cost. I'm not sure what you are comparing but the Orbi is over kill for 100 Mbps. Pretty much anything on the market even Legacy Google Wifi will handle 100Mbps with great ease and you can get that for $200.
      That is why I recommend it. Most people don't want to pay premium prices for no real gain but that's why I do all the video comparisons so you can decide what works best for you

    I’ll be downgrading my Verizon fios internet to 200mbps and switching to RUclips tv. I know the internet speed plan itself doesn’t really warrant wifi 6, but since I have close to 50 wifi devices connected to wifi(most of them are smart home devices), would this be more beneficial? It seems it’ll do a better job maintaining a stable connection between all my devices.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 года назад +1

      Wifi 6 for sure handles multiple devices better even with devices that don't support wifi 6 and it will future proof you. This AX4200 is probably overkill though for a 200MB downstream. I would look at the new Amazon Eero 6 ruclips.net/video/Ekj2KoVtIb4/видео.html or check it out on Amazon directly amzn.to/3yLkKRL
      The only real advantage you'll get from AX4200 is it can handle a lot of devices at once but I really don't think you'll see a lot of difference

      @@Zachus thanks for the response. I know for a fact it’s overkill for 200mbps. Thing is, I may upgrade in the future again. I currently have gigabit internet. I saw the the eero but in my odd way, I’d rather not buy items owned by Amazon. I use their prime membership like crazy but that’s it. Probably cause I’m big into google in thr smart home space so I just feel it’s a competitor.
      My hope is that it just does a better job at keeping my 50 some devices at appropriate speeds and stability. And still gives me the opportunity to hardwire devices.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 года назад +1

      My recommendation is the Orbi 6 AX6000 for what you are dealing with and the 3-pack amzn.to/37UpatE
      For NAS I found this for the Orbi 6, seems like a reset of your NAS Network will cause to ask for a new IP and connect to your Orbi community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-AX/Connecting-Seagate-NAS-to-Orbi-RBR850-AX6000/m-p/1982332#M7808
      This AX4200 is not compatible with NAS from what I'm reading.
      To be honest with 3 floors and that speed if you want a premium mesh system I would do the Orbi 6 AX6000 3-Pack minimum. You get a lot more bang for your $ at that premium speed and square footage and more options. If you don't go mesh, you'll have a hard time getting your wifi throughout your house. You'll have to buy at least 2 routers and have 2 networks hard wired in on different floors to spread it out.
      Yeah a lot of these mesh systems don't have the USB ports like the old days to add HDD, etc... Orbi 6 and AX4200 don't seem to support it directly. Google has never had this since day one either.
      Here's my video on Orbi 6 ruclips.net/video/F-tDUJVwG2k/видео.html
      I only have a 2 bedroom 2 story townhome so the AX4200 killed it for me but when my home is built I'll be upgrading to this but in the 3-pack.
