As I sat down to work on the annual Metal Christmas arrangement, I was combing through lyrics and found:
"Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
breathes a life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone cold tomb"
...And I thought DANG that's actually pretty metal. So I found a fairly neutral, non-hallmark-y version of the song, and my brain went
"WE ARE THE SOOONNNNS OF WINTER AND STARRRRS WE'VE COME FROM A FAR BEYOND TIME"

The disconnection between the lyrics of a song like this and the performance is mind blowing 🤯. I’m not against certain music styles, but there are borders… this is one for me 😅

Edit: 2nd time around watching and I really here the sons of winter and stars arrangement in there. Sounds awesome. Like others were saying I think we need a full metal Christmas album from the whole Spires band, I want a real drum sound from Chris so badly and Peter can rip some bass lines and even throw the upright bass in there! Awesome!
