Lol tbh mate even views are low for this one atm so maybe it’s just not one that people like 🤷♂️
I don't know mate, I cant see how anyone would not like this type of content after all we are getting a pro painter showing how to do this and it's free!! what's not to like 😲😣
Have to say Tony, I’ve been painting cars for over 40 years and every time I watch your videos I learn something 👌👌👌
Wow buddy that’s awesome to hear yano wish I’d had the chance to work with guys like yourself when I started mate with all those years of knowledge
As good and SIMPLE an explanation as I have seen...to the point. Getting that VERY light coat on those decals seems to be the secret to coating over vinyl decals.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you !!! I just bought new vinyl to replace my mustangs cracked racing stripes BUT the new ones don’t have as much of a shine that I would like them to have so I decided to try a high gloss top coat. After watching your vid I am confident enough to attempt this over the vinyl. Thank you again !!!
Thanks for the tips. i am just about to do a similar project. And your info really helps me to get the courage needed
Love when you do bike parts as that's what I'm into. I'm learning a lot watching you Tony, keep it up and keep it between the hedges.
Lol thanks man and I’m have more bike content soon mate too we do a lot of them at the shop
You are a LEGEND. I am just about to start a guitar build and was needing to put a decal on and this tutorial was a life saver. Thank you!

How fitting that I came across (not literally) this video.
About to place decals on a Ducati tank.
Cheers bud.
Currently busy with a project and had Fish eyes on the Vinyl application. It is clear i went to heavy on my coats from the beginning. Thanks for the tips. i am going to redo this and will try give feedback tomorrow.
Glad the video has helped and let me know how you get on
Watched this video and did a full colour change on my cbr f4 .. never painted anything before of this magnitude but I did everything you said .. my bike look’s immaculate and the finish is impeccable.. everyone as commented on the finish .. your vids are mint
Sadly I wasn't able to watch the premiere but I set a notification so I don't miss this vid. And just as I expected, as usual an awesome vid with a lot of helpful tips!
Thank you so much for helping us being able to achieve better results 😉🤙
Your welcome mate that’s what the channel is all about fella

Make sure your guns mega clean when flow coating over white or black mate
Just what i wanted to know if to lightly rub down the decals but ive got it sussed now thank you very much also your very explanatory for the novice which is great.
your welcome Stephen and hope its helped mate
Thanks for the video brother. I'm redoing a 1970 Bonneville that I've had for more years than I care to remember. I bought a set of factory decals for the whole bike. I want the seamless painted on look and you made it possible. Cheers from Alabama USA.
Your welcome Brady and greetings from across the pond
Love all your work Tony....keep it up
Thankyou man appreciate that buddy hope things are going well for you mate
Hello SWC!
Really helpful this as juat repainted a mountain bike frame and was scared to lacquer over the vinyls
Glad it’s helped you Ben 🙂
Good to see more videos again from yourself mate really enjoy them keep them coming
Nice to hear mate thankyou and there’s plenty more
@@TonysRefinishingTV how u finding that multi mix mate, ive been using dynacoat and absolotely hate it so ive just ordered some of this multi mix on your reviews, i just hope drying times are good as i dont work in a booth like yourself and therefore dont have the luxury of a bake cycle 🤣
Yeah it’s good mate no complaints ya from me so far fella
Your finish looks outstanding, a true pro!
Never saw this before, adding clear over decals. Thanks for posting it, man, Great work !
Your welcome and Thankyou for watching
That's the way I've always done it. It's really not a lot more work for the excellent result you get from doing it that way. Take care and have a great day.
Awesome always good to see others that put that little Extra effort in and you to have a nice week
Like the way these tips are straight and to the point... thanks.
Great video and even better timing just about to start you guys rock it
I’m painting my fairings as we speak. Glad I stumbled across this, I’ve left the primer to go off over night and today is going to be colour.
Nice mate hope all goes well buddy
@@TonysRefinishingTV haven’t got a booth, so I’ve got two chairs and a bar to secure the fairings. Bit low for me, so back is hurting! Haha
Lol we’ve all been there mate hanging parts however we can
Perfect timing for my first time
Thanks for the tips, going to do my first decals on an old Yamaha oil tank.
Good luck!

Thankyou man really awesome to hear it’s given you inspiration to do more fella get out there and smash it buddy
Great info at the right time for me. Just doing this for the first time.
Glad it was helpful!
I used to put gold and silver mix in my clear coat only on extra special jobs I found mixing different dusts give a special fin
Yeah they can give a nice little added sheen over the colours mate if you add a spot in to your mix
Great video, have a major question. Whats keeping the clear sticking to the decals. Without adhesion promoter or scuffing them, will the clear peel from stickers?
Does this apply to spraying parts that don't have decals as well? As far as sanding down after 3 coats and then hitting it again with 2 more coats of clear?
Love watching the bike stuff, i want to do a spray job on my bike but wasn't sure how to go about clear coating over decals so this video helped a lot! Liked!
Awesome fella glad it’s helped mate
Another boss job tony, the videos and content are just getting better and better, please keep em coming mate
Good to hear mate that’s why I’ve just built a whole new editing setup mate so I can make more and better content for you guys and hopefully make the channel blossom abit lol
Great shine on that Tony, really is a glass like finish, top job, I'm sure the bike owner will be made up with that job 👍
I hope so too mate lol 😂
Great info for us "gunless wonders" - I can scuff up 2k gloss base with 1000 grit, apply vinyl and clear over. Many thanks.
Glad to help
Wow, your paint work is really top notch, fantastic video and looks so easy to do (for you). Great stuff.
Thanks David
So glad to see you back at it brother.
Thankyou fella
Great Video, really helps, as I have a project that requires this type of work!
Your very welcome mate
Stunning job Tony! Thanks for sharing and explaining in detail. I learned a lot from your videos, which has helped my work improve immensely.
That’s awesome buddy so glad they help you guys
I did this on a honda for a customer.something satisfying clearing over a decal :)
Oh yes definitely mate looks awesome and so much more practical too
Anot good video. I worked out the p1000 is just 1000gritvwet n dry. Good to see how its done.
Absolutely stunning finish Tony. I’m learning loads from your clear and well presented videos, thanks buddy 💥👍

@@TonysRefinishingTV NP, keep up the great work!!
Thanks man I will
Thanks interesting video seen videos on flowcoats from other utubers a long time ago but you explained it really well but as always made it look so easy don’t be fooled 😀
Lol thanks mate and for me it’s gotta be more than a video buddy if it doesn’t give you guys some insight or knowledge it’s just a random upload
Very clearly explained and excellent camera work.
Thankyou Dennis I try my best
whats up with the fish eyes on the black
Really good video, looking to do some stencil work on art projects 👍
Nice mate and Thankyou
Everyone has their own ways of getting their best results. Personally I used to do it this way. But I've found that it's not necessary to sand smooth the edges for it to look fantastic. I just switch from using a production clear to a glam clear. Put on a dry tack coat, then 3 more coats gradually thicker. And just a little nib and rub. People are amazed at the shine results. And if I can hold onto the parts for a couple extra days to gas off. Add a couple coats of ceramic gel wax. Adds a touch more depth, but I mainly do it because customers suck at keeping it that way. And the ceramic wax helps them keep it fresh.
What these steps be useful for painting over a sticker for an embossing effect?
Just now seeing your channel and was wondering about my predicament. Freshly painted tank, fresh 2k clear, fresh cut n buff, was looking beautiful, just like a pro... then I scratched it doing a photo shoot. Grrr !! (among other four letter words lol). Going to put a 1 inch(2.5cm) sticker on it to cover the oopsie because I can`t match the color cheaply...Should I sand the entire tank to re-clear or could I get away with just sanding the area the sticker needs to cover and just clear that little bit ?
Nice work and thanks for the info!
Got some recording console panels with decals I'd like to clearcoat.
Beautiful paint job that will last a lifetime cause it was done right!
What brand of clear coat do you use. Your jobs always turn out great.
Great job! Going to do clear over decals soon and this was wery informative, thanks!
Your very welcome mate thanks for joining us
Hi Tony, another cracking demonstration bud👌
Thankyou dongil
Really useful video. I’m looking forward to using these tips when I do my next job! Thanks!
Glad they helped mate
Another fantastic result Tony, great content sir
Thanks fella good to see you hear again to mate
Thanks for the vid mate. Informative as always. If love a tidy new hoodie. I swear to never wear it whilst welding. Would be my only good hoodie going without holes throughout
Lol well if it gets up to 1000 likes mate then you might just get your chance fella
Nice, i am doing clear over my Ram Heads on my Ram truck.
So would the same rules apply for vinyl wrap? I plan to use a mixture of vinyl and paint on my helmet amd bike. After everything is done, I can just clear right over the vinyl amd paint?
Just did my bike with your video turned or awesome thank
Glad it helped!
It’s nice to see a job done right and more really impressed 😀
Lol thanks mate glad you enjoyed it
Saved this video. I am looking for ideas for when I DIY paint my Harley
Glad I could help
Great tutorial, thanks ! Could you advise on doing the same to a Pearl paint from the start?
Awesome I'm gettin ready to do a flow coat on my truck hope it turns out as good as your tank
Great to hear fella and hope it all goes well
I've been watching all your videos and I've done some regular paint jobs but now ready to do something custom. im using some powder pearls and flake. Fingers crossed
@@lynchscustomauto8427 let me know how you get on mate tag me in some pics on insta or something
Great video and job as normal Tony thankyou for taking the time to help others.
Your very welcome mate thanks for watching
hi, like my bike has some stickers on the fairings, I would like to cover them with gloss like it was done on the tank, can I do that?
nice one man. Great as always. Perfect timing as just about to do the same in my MBT I just resprayed.
Well I’m glad it’s come of use mate always good to hear
Great video! What did you do to prep the paint before laying the decals down? Did you say you sprayed some 2k Clear Coat first before laying the decals? Thanks for your time ...
I prefer to base and clear or 2k gloss then ideally wet flat that woth p1000 before applying the decals
Lovely finish on them mate, I would of loved to watch you putting on the base coat and applying graphics ,but we can’t have everything can we , well done and great job as usual 👌
Il be doing more involved videos mate like this from now on so next time I get some il film it all mate
a little late just seen this looks great ,how long does the decals last under a good quality clear ,better question is how long does whole thing last before you start seeing cracks peeling etc?
Awsome as always tony
Thanks David
Great video as always. I have struggled a lot with clear coat. Watching tons of YT videos to learn. I have had sags, peely as hell trying to get that wet finish, got too careful and ended up with a coarse dry finish, I've had pinholes and solvent pop, you name it. I have seen guys smashing clear on, going full fluid, full everything and get good results. Not me. Until I started listning to you instead. I have learned so much from your channel. Now I don't stress, take my time, start with 2 turns out on the fluid, try to mimic slowhand, and it's getting there. Thank you for these videos!
Honestly mattias comments like that mate make all the hours of editing n filming worthwhile buddy so glad my videos have helped you out mate
@@TonysRefinishingTV Keep them coming. I'm just a hobbyist doing custom paint in my garage for friends. If I could, I would pay you to work for you as an apprentice. At 54 years of age.. 🤣
Lol that’s funny 😂
@@MatteLson66 you will have to get in the queue mate as I asked first and I'm paying just to queue up 😁🤣😉
@@JohnWD40TC02 LOL 🤣🤣 I bet the queue is long..
Always something new 😜 awesome job like always and very useful video👍😁
Thankyou mate and I’m trying to mix things up with as much new content as possible
This is very helpful. How long do you let the first layer(s) of clear sit before flatting and adding the decals?
The master at work again 👍
Ah your too kind man just a painter sharing his knowledge mate that’s all
Always great information from your videos and l love your channal stay safe
Thanks husky and you too
just what i needed in using 2k clearcoat over decals on a rc boat
Glad we could help
Very helpful! Have you ever done a bicycle frame? I have an all satin clear coat black Trek with a silver logo, I would love to tape and put a purple tinted clear coat over them, but I don't know how it would turn out?
Nice, I've dragged myself away from the garage, you're vids are a welcome relief from grinding down welds 🤣 👨🏭
Did someone mention free hoodie 🤔
They did mate lol so make sure you got the like button
Great video once again, awesome finish on that job . If I was the customer would be so made up with the work you've done. Have a cracking wk end. Until next time 👌👍
Thanks fella appreciate the nice words mate and you too buddy enjoy your weekend
Great finish again mate 👏 love a nice clean flow coat !
Thanks fella and nothing better is there man
What's the best wait to paint a machine without painting over existing decals (decals are writing, not square decals, so hard to mask)
great work on that love the shine, nice footage
Thanks buddy
Another great tutorial Tony. I would like to see how you laid out the decals though
Coming soon in another bike video mate I wasn’t going to film this one tbh but thought it would make for a good video and I’d already fitted the decals like a muppet lol
Can you apply the decals to the base coat then clear as normal?
Informative as always. Thanks Tony.
No problem mate glad you enjoyed
How do you degrease the decals before clear? Silicone cleaner?
Good video very helpful. Would have been good to have seen the process after colour went on.
I’ve got another bike video coming soon so il include it in that one
Great video now since it's all done do you wet sand again and then buff or do you buff without wet sanding
Yes I’d wet sand and buff again for the ultimate finish
@@TonysRefinishingTV ok great, thank you
No problem at all mate
