    Hey dude I believe your problem is coming from the 3rd party LAV you have connected. Try out the unit without it and see if you have the same problem. Stewart and Alina channel has a video talking about this and he goes through different LAVs to test that interference. He found that even some expensive LAVs have interference from the cable.

    Hey man, thanks so much for making this video. I ended up getting the Rode Wireless Go 2 on Prime Day (they're on the way), but then quickly researched these to make sure I'd chosen correctly. I feel like 95% of RUclips would recommend the DJI Mic over what I got, but so many people are glossing over the faults.
    - There's the hiss/interference or whatever that is (deal breaker).
    - The noise floor just seems way higher on the DJI, which is not cool. (The "user experience" can't compensate for that).
    - DJI claim 15ms Latency, but it was measured on a review unit at over 27ms (1 frame) vs 5ms on the Rode (negligible and quite awesome), and I've only found one person who mentioned that.
    Did your next set work out any better?

    • @BryceKoebel
      @BryceKoebel  Год назад +2

      So the set in this video was my second set. I ended up returning them all together. But I have the Fulaim X5 now and they work great

    • @benmcphee4401
      @benmcphee4401 Год назад +1

      @@BryceKoebel thanks. :) I’ll look into them.
      After your video, I did a bit more research and the buzzing is not isolated. Many lavs set it off on almost all DJI mics. The rode Lav go is especially bad. Good mic, but completely incompatible with the DJI mic. Apparently in their attempts to get the range longer, DJI compromised on the shielding and the right channel is basically useless.
      Then there’s the skipping. That seems to be the sign of a faulty unit.
      And lastly, it looks like they can’t accept locking 3.5mm lavs, which rules out many high end mics if you ever wanted to use one. (The rode can take them. They just won’t lock).
      So the DJI mics are good in theory and can work for some people, but they have major issues, and most of RUclips glosses over them or ignores them. Won’t be getting them until a version 2 fixes all that. Hopefully I won’t need them at all.
      So sticking with my Rodes for now. I’ll take a look at your set though in case they’re even better or a solid backup. :)
      Love your work man. Keep it up.

  • @luissinsin
    @luissinsin 11 месяцев назад +4

    Quick update. Although the new firmware fixed the "out of sync" issue where internal recordings would lose 6-9 frames every 2 minutes or so, I decided to sell all my 3 sets and here's why: Currently I'm editing yet another shoot where the internal sync issue happened. 3 people and 6 exercise videos which lasted about 1.25hrs each. I am manually going over the camera audio and the internal audio and manually cutting the internal recording every 2 minutes and re-syncing it to the camera audio. This might seem like overkill, but the last project I delivered to the client had a lot of echo issues and it was horrible. The amount of hours I had to put into the project to correct the issues caused by DJI was incredible and frustrating. Having to do it once again, I find myself angry again for even having to do this extra work.
    Additionally, I bought a Rode Wireless Pro system, and the added screw on adapter for the lapel mic, and the 32bit recording are just features that the DJI cannot compete with. In the last shoot, I did have issues with that one as well where the record button on the Receiver didn't always start the internal recording on the transmitters. (this depended on distance from transmitters & receiver) But now I will just set them to "ALWAYS RECORD". So, as soon as I turn them on, they will record internally. With 40hrs internal recording, it will never be an issue.
    Anyway, if you are considering DJI Wireless Mic, be sure the firmware is up to date, or you'll be pulling your hair out in post. Thankfully, I don't have any. Best of luck to all.

      "Although the new firmware FIXED the issue" that's the first comment of my previous post. So as far as I know, they have fixed it. Yes.
      My complaining was about having to fix things from a previous shoot before they had fixed. (Keep in mind that, that specific shoot happened after I had received my units back from repair with a clean bill of health from DJI who had supposedly fixed the issue. Sadly they had not been fixed at the time.)
      After that shoot, DJI finally release a firmware that fixed the problem.

    @luissinsin Год назад +1

    FYI, I bought 2 sets of these at first and recently a 3rd since I needed more people MIC'ed. I'm not sure if both initial sets were doing the internal skip but I sent them both in for servicing. They came back with a good bill of health, but my very next shoot, the same problem came up. I loose 9.5 frames about every 6 minutes on the internal recording. The audio from the Receiver which is recorded in Camera does not got out of sync of course. Unfortunately, the camera audio should be a scratch track and the internal recording should be the track used. This would avoid any interference on the camera audio. Now I'm having to use the Camera audio as the main track and only use the internal recording when there is static, but it requires me to re-sync many times when using the internal recording.
    Seems like the internal recording should be without issues, but not the case. I've submitted a new case with DJI and now I will have to send all my 3 Sets because I can't be sure which one is failing or if they all are. Bummer. The only two other issues I have with these are:
    1: (which is minor) it doesn't work with all microphones as far as clean audio. Some microphones exhibit static noise as you experienced. Easy fix. get the right mic that works and call it a day.
    2: In the spirit of keeping it as small as possible they didn't provide a microphone jack that accepts the Threaded/Locking 1/8" microphone jacks. So, you either get something that is not locking or you have to use a dremel tool to cut off the threaded part of the connector. Neither is good because it would be better to be able to lock it. I've had issues when filming workout videos where the mic gets slightly unplugged. Wish I could send it in to put locking connectors. I'd pay $$$ to get that fixed even if it created a bump on the unit.

    • @BryceKoebel
      @BryceKoebel  Год назад +1

      Honestly, if you’re charging the most $$$ for your wireless mics they better not have these little issues. I’m sorry to hear that… I recently had a job where the mic was slightly unplugged abs the audio would cut in and out from being quiet and staticky to really loud. I’m really surprised locking mechanisms aren’t required with these types of things considering it’s just a tiny piece of metal that needs to be installed.
      I haven’t purchased these mics since and I’ve been running fully wired. I have too much ptsd from wireless mics 😅

    • @luissinsin
      @luissinsin Год назад

      @Bryce Koebel the thing is that it's not really about the money. I would pay $50 more per transmitter to have the locking feature. It would cost them no more than $1-3 to add it. They could make a Pro version with only that change and add $100 to the price and I bet people would happily pay for it. They should be guaranteed to not have internal recording issues. Fix static from any mic and have locking jack.
      The idea of having internal recording is one of safety. Safety because perhaps some of us don't have a budget for a designated audio mixer. Safety because what we record may be a one take thing. (Say a wedding or a speech) but if you can't be certain that the mic will stay plugged in all the way through the entire day, that feeling of safety goes out the window.
      I'd pay $300 to send all my 3 units in and get them back with those changes. The system is great, the form factor is great. I just want piece of mind.

    • @luissinsin
      @luissinsin Год назад

      One other thing that would be great is to be able to remove the clip on the Transmitters. Not a huge thing, but sometimes it's nice to make it even smaller. Similar to how you can remove the clip on the receiver.

    • @BryceKoebel
      @BryceKoebel  Год назад +1

      Yeah I definitely agree. I think because it’s so expensive they shouldn’t compromise on the tech. Because it really is an amazing wireless system, but you can see easily where they cut costs. For example, when it first came out they had a really crappy aux chord that they replaced soon after.

The Xvive U5 is good with wired lavaliers but the LV1 wired lavalier included is fine but not great and it pops when moving so that is no good. The LV2 worked well but have to be mindful of volume levels like the DJI in a sense but not buzz noise but noise floor creeps up. The pocket wireless is the best I found if using wired lavaliers in terms of wireless mics and using anything other than the included one lol. Dang, well I’m glad that you’re having no troubles! It could have been a defective unit. I am still considering re-buying it as I did enjoy it for the most part. I am also using the a7S3, is there an option for phantom power on this camera? If there is I will definitely try that out.

      @@BryceKoebel This is me but from my other account name. Good point, I use the SONY XLR K3M adaptor on mine some times and that has phantom power but the camera does not on it's own that I'm aware of. I've just heard that type of sound before when phantom was on and it wasn't needed. I didn't mean with this camera and mic. Sorry for confusion. I think you had a bum unit myself. Thank you so much. I thought about an external recorder because I'm afraid of the camera preamps ruin the good wireless system. But I've watched the Sony K3M which seems to be connected in a way that the preamps are not in between anymore. Do you know any other systems that work like that? I'm searching for something cheaper if it's possible...

    Glad I saw your video because I was considering buying both. Most RUclips reviewers are sponsored so if there is an issue they often don't mention it or they only have the device to test for a couple of days so they don't run into these issues. In general a lot of these lower cost devices are not made as well as traditional mics. The issue with the Rode Go is a grounding design flaw. What's shocking is Rode knows about but won't fix it despite many complaints, probably because it must sell well. ruclips.net/video/ecrNTf30vHY/видео.html
    I own a Sony UWP-D21 it's, older tech, big, doesn't record internally, and has only one mic but it has never let me down. I also ran a lav into a Zoom H1 recorder. Again never had an issue but it's more work having to sync it in post. So if you want reliability there are other options that aren't as convenient.
