    Thank you for publicising this. I'm a Marilyn fan from the UK and I visited Fifth Helena Drive in 2004. It is really peaceful and the fans are very respectful of the other residents. I hope to visit LA again with my daughter in a couple of years and show her many historical landmarks connected to Marilyn and other great Hollywood stars. I'm ready to sign any petition to stop this demolition happening and I know many other fans around the world are too.

      The land is worth more than the structure. Again---it's all about money, and resale value. The thought is: Why have a home built in 1920 when you can build a new mansion and sell it for tens of millions of dollars. It's a shame but, I enjoyed riding past Marilyn Monroe's, Betty White, and Danny Thomas's homes. Many of these celebrity homes are now considered "tear downs".

    I don't understand why they would buy the property just to tear it down. If they just wanted land couldn't they have found land in Brentwood without Marilyn's house on it??

    • @roachtoasties
      @roachtoasties 8 месяцев назад +1

      I doubt there are many, if any, empty lots in Brentwood that are shovel ready for development of a large home.

    • @user-ei9tu8go4g
      @user-ei9tu8go4g 8 месяцев назад +6

      @@roachtoasties It doesn't need to be empty land, obviously. They could buy another property that they like in Brentwood with another house on it that they could tear down. Why tear Marilyn's house down?

    • @beautybonvoyage8624
      @beautybonvoyage8624 8 месяцев назад

      Sometimes developing can get out of hand to where it seems like a waste. Every couple of years when someone wants to build something new they just gonna keep buying the same land over and over and tear down whatever is there and rebuild? At some point it gets weird...MM's house is one of those things that they can save and find some other house that might be falling apart to knock down.

  • @larrybruce4856
    @larrybruce4856 8 месяцев назад +37

    It's all about money. It's too bad the city couldn't purchase the home as a historical landmark to preserve it. I have taken tours past the home and past the home of Danny Thomas and Betty White whose homes were torn down recently for new mansions to go on the property. The thought now is why keep a home built in the 1920's 30's 0r 60's when you can build and sell a mansion for millions now days. It's all about money and profit. I'm surprised at how many 10 million dollar homes are currently considered "tear-downs" to be replaced with a newer, bigger mansion selling for tens of millions of dollars.

      Are u kidding me?! They are both equally iconic, Duh! Marilyn for Beauty The Kennedy,s , Famous Actress, Died young in a Mysterious Way! Sang Happy Birthday to the President Kennedy, legendary and Iconic performance, Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend , the 7 year itch when her dress blows up, Lucille Ball was a Innovative, creative woman, she had a interracial marriage to Desi Arnaz, she was the first woman to have her own show and production company, Desilu Productions, she had 3 shows following I love ❤️ Lucy, she was the first woman to show a pregnancy on television and she was a comedian, so they are both EQUALLY LEGENDARY AND ICONIC, but the story was about MARILYN MONROE NOT Lucille

    The owners just wanted to yank everyones' chain and drum up a trillion dollar buy-out that really wouldn't have the teeth without injustice and outcry.

    The current owner bought it and he can do whatever the heck he wants with it. That lady down the block should come up with the money and buy it from the current if she is so desperately trying to save it.

    Well, it is private property. I wouldn't want someone to tell me I can't rebuild something I own. These organizations should have purchased it back in 2017 to preserve it.

      It should have been declared a landmark like other historical homes. This is our history. This is what LA is all about. It’s insane to me that someone would want to destroy it or could be allowed to. Who ever it is I hope they are haunted by pissed off spirits. That person will never get a moments peace! 🖕

    The new owner is planning to build an ice cream parlour and factory the would provide great moments for many people and would generate more income than an empty house 🏡 turned into a museum .
