Thanks for making this video, Dave. As someone, who likes taking exhaustive notes on everything, it's nice to know I'm not alone. Ha!
Having said that, I realize there's a degree of neurotic behavior to wanting to journal every little detail. But, hey, whatever works. I guess I just gotta check in with myself as to whether or not the journaling or logging is serving a purpose, or if it has outlived its usefulness.

Been training for 8 years and have never had a log book. But i believe if i did i'd be a beast. Going to add a log book when i start training again next month.

I think you’re onto something. If your goal is to constantly beat the numbers from previous workouts, you get sucked into trying to beat those numbers at all costs. Maybe one day you’re just tired, however, you have a set number in your book that you have to beat. This, I believe, can set you up for injury.

The notion of reading someone's journals seems invasive. I suppose one may feel a license to do so, if the person was an intimate relation.
I was a huge fan of the rock band, Nirvana. Years after the band leader, Kurt Cobain died, someone published his journals in book form. When he was alive, I had listened to all his music, seen all the videos and available interview footage, and gotten a hold of magazines and whatnot.
And, yet, when I saw the book at a Barnes & Noble, it felt wrong. I didn't touch it. It didn't seem right.
On the other hand, Marcus Aurelius' journals were not meant to be read by others. Yet, many of us have derived so much wisdom from his journals for almost two millennia, although he never intended for anyone to read his journals. The book we know as Meditations by Marcus Aurelius', despite being a canonical text of Stoic philosophy, is read incorrectly, if we read it as a didactic text. As Professor John Vervaeke (Univ. of Toronto; Awakening From the Meaning Crisis) reminds us, the best we can do is see what he did and learn from his methods, more so than from his conclusions. The wisdom of his conclusions, which many of us take as valuable teachings of wisdom, are valuable. But we would be missing out on a lot, if we confine ourselves only to that.
