I've probably watched 20 videos on youtube trying to figure out my problem. This is the best information I've found out of all of them. Thanks so much bro!
Thanks for the simple, informative video. This past summer (central, triad of NC) was brutal with drought. It was nearly impossible to keep up with watering. Now, cooler temps have showed up and I'm back on the watering schedule. You're right, my grass is recovering!
@brianfolding40 Awesome, after this rain and cooler temperatures, I think everyone's lawn is gonna recover. Make sure you keep seed on hand just in case
Thank you for that tremendous contribution that you have left on your channel, I have San Agustin grass and I am as stressed as he is with this heat wave. Greetings from Katy TX.😀
Generally, at least here in Denver, only KBG can go dormant and look dry and bounce back after a month of looking rough. Everything else if you dont water for 2 weeks in the summer and it turns dry it will be dead. It will not bounce back. I have had this happen with tall fescue and rye.
@@Kenneth_R Your on point. If it's hot enough and you don't water it, it will be toast. That's why it's important to look and see before the fall gets away from us 👍🏾
Good stuff, Polo! I have the same dilemma with my neighbor's yard that I mow. She hates to water and wants her yard to look like mine. I stepped up the watering to bring some life back into my yard after temperatures started coming down. I tell her that I'm just watering, but she thinks I'm doing more to keep my yard up and not doing the same for hers. LOL. Oh well! 😳😳
Well explained video. We had a tough summer here in NJ and even though I dethatched last yr I have to do it again. I battled fungus and heat stress all summer long. The lawn is thick but the roots pull out easily. Any suggestions? Thanks
Can I apply some BioAdvanced Grub Control to my dry patches this weekend? I have cool season, Kentucky Bluegrass in Zone 5b. Or should I wait till Spring 2025? Thank you so much, Guru Polo!
@yannip2083 Grubs will create brown patches in your lawn. When you go to those patches, you can pull them up very easily, and normally, you will see some grubs somewhere near. So if you see this, yes, you can use bioadvanced grubs control, BUT Acelepryn is your BEST option
Gm, I have a question. I have these white round patches that came up in my yard. I did get it out but they came back the next day. Goggle it and finally found what looks like it. It's saying it's mold not for sure. It's only in one spot but I did notice others are coming in that.same area. Grass is growing though it and it's driving me crazy. I have a picture of it but can't spend it on RUclips for some reason. I first thought it was from the birds but it's not. From what I'm saying can you figure this one out! 😅
@susansmith7071 If it's slime mold, it will go away. You can make it out. It may come back. The ultimate thing is that it won't harm your grass. It MAY turn the grass under the mold yellow due to the fact it isn't getting any sunlight, but it won't kill your grass. Slime mold NORMALLY will pop up after heavy rains right after a long period of dry weather.
EXCELLENT video! How timely! This is EXACTLY what I need to learn today. Thank you so much, Polo, THE BEST LAWN GURU!

Hi Ken, How to know the difference from Tall Fescue vs Kentucky Bluegrass ?
What grass type was in this video ?
@mrBDeye There were several grass types in this video, BUT Tall fescue typically has a wider grass blade than Kentucky bluegrass
good stuff thanks
@mantooth-cw2rv Your welcome sir
Do you recommend running a manual aerator for the first few years of a new construction home? The soil is pretty bad and compacted.
YES, at least the first couple. Aerate it good, too. Go north, south, east, and west
Polo knows dormant grass . 💪🏻😎
