    You can train dog before hand with a cardboard box, put flap into side of box, cut hole on other side, then make a game of them going through the flap. Given them treat each time they do it. Can take a couple of days. However easier when you stick it in the door/wall especially when it is buck freezing outside. Also drilling hole only for dog to not use would be a tad depressing

I think you will feel the same in the next couple of years, the challenge now however is to get your cat to use it, that`s the hard part.... all the best.....mrix

    Thanks for the video. I was wondering why you didn't put a dog door through to your back garden which I imagine is fully enclosed for your dogs?
    To encourage your dogs, who will be wary of the door at first, prop the door open, with you on the outside with a treat.
    Make sure you keep the other dog away ,so. that the door does not come down on their face.

      Hi Ray, firstly it was simply plasterboard which was really no problem getting through by on the other side was basically to rows of bricks, I simply broke them up using a hammer and chisel which done the job, this dog flap has been brilliant and so very reliable, even after 2 years of constant daily use its still working perfectly.... mrix

    Would a simple ramp be easier for the little dogs to use instead of the log steps?

    • @mrix
      @mrix  3 года назад

      Hello I suppose it depends what you mean by ramp, at that angle it could act as like a slide etc, I suppose there are many different idea`s which would work totally, I am still using the logs which still continue to work well, the sureflap has been one of my better buys and I would certainly purchase another one if anything fails on it, thanks for the reply, mrix

    Jesus. This is why buildings in the UK stand for hundreds of years and here in the US a hundred year old structure needs to be constantly reinforced. Why so thick with the brick? Super curious.

      I actually ended up purchasing right angle metal brackets which screwed into the sides, worked a treat to keep the logs stable, this dog flap has been absolutely brilliant could not do without it now, they get to roam inside and outside in safety, thanks for the idea`s, I only just noticed the comment so I apologise for the late response, thanks mrix

      @mrix  Год назад +1

      Hello, you cannot rule out anything I suppose as I cannot say it would be impossible however I do think something like that happening would be highly unlikely but like anything in the world there will always be a case of it happening somewhere, I have never once in the few years I have had the Sureflap had any other animal enter... well none what I am aware of ha ha.... mrix

    I am trying to get my pup to go through when the door is closed. He is doing great when it's open, or even slightly ajar.
    However, once the door is closed, he just will not even try to push it. I tried putting some dog formulated peanut butter on the door so that he can lick it and hopefully push, but his licks aren't strong enough to push past the magnets.
    Another issue I have is that he puts his nose and touches the flap, but sometimes it just does not unlock. I noticed it happened in your video too, like at minute 17:00. It seems that the unit tag needs to be super close to the flap, even when the dog is right under the top inside sensors.
    any tips?

    • @mrix
      @mrix  2 года назад

      Hi Sam, regarding going through the door for me it was simply a case of being on the other side of the door tempting them through by any means possible, just calling them, offering them treats etc, however it did take quite a while of leaving the flap open or ajar to get them completely comfortable, its frustrating to say the least but it will come.
      As for the delay on the door this is quite rare but does happen, on the odd occasion, however they still manage to get through even if they have to backup and try again, 99% of the time it works brilliantly, certainly one of my best buys, its been a god send and not sure what I would of done without it, all the best with yours, please let me know when your dog finally manages to get through the closed door and what finally tempted your pup to go through, all the very best mrix

      Hello good point and one that I also thought of, I think its because the unit it not weather / waterproof and needs to be indoors in the dry, it obviously has batteries to operate the door mechanism and the buttons to operate the various settings, mrix

    bonjour, ma chatière SureFlap Petcare n'a fonctionné que 2 mois et demi en reconnaissance de puce. Le service après vente me dit que ce n'est pas réparable , et qu'elle n'est plus sous garantie vu que j'ai attendu d'en avoir la nécessité (présence d'un intrus) pour mettre en service la reconnaissance de puce. Je déconseille donc fortement ce produit qui s'est avéré non fiable en ce qui me concerne.
