I just try and get by with my mark six starborn ship, not very good defense wise in my opinion because i prefer very tanky ships but its great offense wise in my opinion. It may just be my favorite ship, i hope when dlc comes out or something they add more starborn benefits like maybe higher tier starborn ships starborn is my favorite content.
Totally agree with you about the class "B" ShieldBreaker. It's a lovely ship. Probably my favourite ship, so far! And I almost brought the Stronghold but went for the Narwhal instead.

I haven't played the game; haven't even watched any _gameplay_ videos, just shipbuilding videos, but my favorite would be the Silent Runner. I love cargo ships and then would modify it with those auto-firing turrets.
@@jamescopeland6802 You should do the Mantis quest. When you complete it you get one of the best A class ships, the Razorleaf.
I have a Sparrow I bought in Neon (from Tyko or w/e?? The first ship vendor you introduced, comes with fee power wheels if your interested :p j/p) at under 75k it's the best ship I'd found by far!! OFC if you're in that market you may as well liberate random (hostile) ships you can find, either at abandoned spaceports or in dogfights.
I feel like some attention should be paid to the interior layout. I had picked up the Pegasus, and ended up hating it because it was a maze inside.

Just press the button to go straight to cockpit when you enter, and when you leave press the button to go straight to outside, the cargo is usually right in the cockpit, i find the need to use stations like research station and modding stations is rare personally so i don't need to navigate my ships for that.
I know what you mean. My favourite ship so far is the star Eagle.
@@bl4zerunn3r89 The star eagle is a good choice its at the very least in my top five favorite ships if not top three because of how versatile it is and how light weight it is despite how decent it is in so many areas.

Yeah the reactor and well pretty much everything about it are impressive especially since it’s A class. Interior of it is really nice too

I’ve got a narwhal as my primary ship, I upgraded the storage by a ton by removing the spine under the middle launcher and replacing it with a Galleon S204, then adding two Galleon S202s right behind and back right the middle launcher, making it look like a bit more of a “humpback” design. Upgrading all 4 engines to nova 1050s is pretty much mandatory due to all the added weight tho. I personally swapped the turrets for vanguard star seeker pulse lasers and this thing will shred through enemies in seconds.
best starfield ship video out there. for sure. I checked 10 guides/videos. yours was the most accurate. I tend to the same ships as you do. Wanted to buy the shield breaker, the dragon fire was also in my sights instant.
Thank you to put it from A to B, saw many videos talking about the best forgetting that people just started and need to get skill points etc anyway.
Kept my Frontier (heavly upgraded, but kept the silouette, mostly, it's a Frontier but Bigger (class B).
Bought the Dragonfly after finishing the SysDef side quest, added some good Engine (base maneuvrability is 30-ish WTF).
Added some cargo and I'm at 5k + cargo capacity XD, with 70 maneuvrability and easy access to the rooms (love that you can access a single room upstair directly from the cockpit and you can go downstair from there too.
The Narwhal is a cracking ship! My fave so far
Personally a better or atleast equal ship in A class is Warhorse. It looks like frontier but has a beefer reactor and bigger rear hidden cargo. If you like frontier's look but want a good ship asap Warhorse imo is an amazing pick.
I’ve been running the Vanquisher III. I like the cargo room. I do some rearranging of weapons. I like to have good emp weapons to shut down and board ships to sell.
Narwhal is the only ship you will ever need. It makes space battles super easy.
star eagle has great offensive and its the best in my opinion for taking over ships with its em gun it comes with. take out shields with lasers, then hit the weapons 1 shot each and then the engine.
The best ship is the one that makes the interior a breeze to navigate. Make it easy to get to the cockpit and a bed and the hatch to go outside. You can fix anything else. I use a Varuun Prophecy II with Vanguard shield and Vanguard Obliterators. Huge cargo. Tanky. Kills everything. I've learned the proper route to get around but I'm probably going to rebuild it to make it a bit easier.
You can make any ship easy to navigate with the right build
Just got the Stronghold have upgraded weapons, doubled storage and engines.
Ship looks good happy with it I'm on level 22 so not gone into designing my own ship yet.
Have plenty of credits and not cheated at all to get the money would only spoil the game.
Playing on normal skill which is bit easy probably play on very hard next play through.
The Autobahn 2 is the best I've found so far at lvl 55 it's got 34 reactor 30 jump and amazing cargo and offence best C class I've found by far
Yeah I have a Shieldbreaker and I used it a ton. It is the first and for right now the only ship I have bought. Been spend my credits on modifying it over time.
I love my Shieldbreaker with upgraded shield (UC/Vanguard one I believe) and modified missile launchers, which does not require any ship engineering talent. It's the best credits alone can buy.

I bought a ship called musarame for 240k I think in paradiso or somewhere in Sol. It’s b class 27 ly jump range and has weapon systems that are waaaay better than shield breaker along with similar hulk and shield capcity. Honestly i have both ships but recommend the musarame I feel so safe in it

I noticed you said the Narwhal has a decent hull... from what ive seen it has by far the best hull.
It does and reactor...wish I knew how to add more weapons to it.
I added 3 extra turrets and a couple habs to star eagle and its pretty nice too. Free from the ranger questline too.
I don't want to get into ship building yet and have 500K so wanted to get a ship. I'm torn between Narwhal and Abyss Tekker. I gotta add cargo capacity to the Abyss but it just looks so sexy and that weaponry goes crazy.
My favorite ship so far is the Razorleaf, modified with additional habs and cargo pods. Still early in my playthrough (only level 15) so I don't have access to B and C class ships yet, but I plan to keep upgrading the Razorleaf per the lore of the ship until it's a monster.
I turned the razorleaf into one little chubby monster. Cramp in 5 into the ship that looks like a little jigglypuff and its always fun trying to move when 4 npc is cramped and blocking your way.
The Ranger quest ship, Star Eagle, comes with bonkers reactor and engines. So if you want to go bigger while still in A class, the Eagle kinda makes Razorleaf obsolete. But Razorleaf isn't bad for that compact fighter style. Low reactor power just means you can't power a huge weapons battery and everything else as well.
With limited power it's best to go for burst type particle weapons in 2 weapons groups, and just go about 30-50% power allocation on them. Burst type means it has full fire rate even with just one power bar, but it "fills the magazine" slower. Which is just fine, as having full dps on all the time is sort of unreachable anyway.
@@wtfronsson There is one I saw in neon last night, last ship I believe, and it has a decent reactor on it.. Asside from the passive buff of the razor leaf, the reactor is the most important thing. Everything else can be built around it. The ranger is badass but you have to complete a whole quest line.. Which i might jump on tonight anyways!!
exactly what i done aswell. My Razorleaf was a class C monster at the end of my first playthrough.
I sold it as soon as I got it. Might come to regret that later.... but my Pterosaur needed a new engine 😁
Personally, my favorite is the Roanoke. I think its an underrated ship that nobody really talks about. Its not strong but its so huge and it doesnt take a lot of modifications to make the interior amazing cos of its size, and it can be stacked with weapons. I upgraded my Roanokes engines, added more particle beam lasers and missiles and it tears through enemies.

If you don't want to put 4 points into Starship Design I think the best bet would be the Narwhal for the big reactor and shield. Scrap everything you don't need and build yourself the most OP fighter being able to power all three weapon slots to the max. Put Vanguard disruptors, missiles and autocannons on it and watch all the enemy ships go boom!
I managed to get myself a Narwhal from Ryujin Industries in Neon. I changed the weapons so it can melt the enemy away _(It has a 36kw reactor so can handle almost anything.)._
_But there is one huge downside to this ship._
*I hate it's interior and I hate having it's opening ramp way at the back of the ship.*
Whenever I get to the ship and press "E" just to go inside and go to the workstations, I'll spend ages trying to figure out where the workstations are. And when I've finally found them and done what i was doing there, when I try to get to the flightdeck, I'm running up and down ladders for ages trying to figure out where the heck that's gone 8-((...
However. I'm very tempted to go to a ship services person and totally dismantle the damn thing keeping just the reactor, weapons and the cabins and then rebuild it. But in the way I want it to be.
It'll end up looking bloody awful, but at least I won't get lost inside it 8-))...
And before you ask.
*_I used to play Avorian and every ship I built there, ended up looking like a Borg Cube regardless of what I tried to do! Hideous. But very practical._* ;-))...
The best thing about the Narwhal is the reactor and grav drive as these are very high level and can be hard to get without grinding XP and levels.
The reactor and grav drive are amazing on this ship, but what really sets it apart is its defensive capabilities. This ship can take a beating.

Yeah, Narwhal has one of the biggest reactors in the game…let’s you max out particle beams and engines AND shields…the thing is a beast
I bought it because I was using a 29 reactor still. Went to modify it and realized I had unlocked a 35 reactor at some point, so I just upgraded my original ship instead
Love the shield breaker but the laser turrets kind of suck cuz they really only do well against shields (hence the name shieldbreaker) I’d recommend replacing them with particle turrets or just getting rid of the turrets altogether if you go with that ship
Outside of bought ships, one of the best ships in the game to steal is the Ecliptic Claymore! they have like 3200 storage standard and they are decent size. I've had mine since level 20 or so (i was lucky and found one early in my game) I've added more storage when needed and as my skills went up i've added more power/bigger engines/better jump drive. and its got one of the best cockpits in the game!

Shieldbreaker is insane, no modification needed. Longsword is great to upgrade to a C class ship.

No one’s said this but I got the econohaul and I’ve just been upgrading it and adding better guns and more rooms and stuff great ship for average everything that you can mold to your liking
I also used this all the time till I finally build one myself.
I only visit the ship vendor to get ideas for how to build out the handful of pirate ships I've "repatriated."
I have been using the Narwal and upgraded the engines and weapons to make it a Flying Fortress with 95 mobility 😝

Where did you upgrade the engines? I just bought the bad boy last night. Feels a little sluggish, but I love the look and it’s crew capacity.
@@ChristianDeLarge I rearranged the back half by getting rid of the fuel tanks on one side and putting one large one (650 fuel) on one side and the generator on the other. I had to add small rear wings (Deimos I think) to hold the engines I chose in place which ruins the overall design aesthetic slightly, but it allows 100 mobility with 130 speed and 3 engines for 8 power
@@davejohn255 I think you need shipbuilding 2 for the weapons I chose. The roof and front end of the ship have equipment mounts standard but you can put them anywhere you want
@@samvenable9898 - Yeah. I can’t seem to comprehend the ship building aspect of this game. But that’s alright. I’m not looking to min max everything. Fortunately the Narwhal has been fine in every dogfight on normal difficulty that I have played. If I start to get smoked, I’ll just dial the difficulty down a notch for the space fighting. No point in not having fun.
As a cargo guy, my favorite is the Silent Runner. I just add some minor upgradesvto it.

Crossbow III (Neon) and Wight III (Crimson Fleet) are by far the best offensive bought ships in the game, but you need to be level 60ish to purchase them.
i bought the sielnt runner, modified it and now it can pack some serious punch. my cargo hold is almost full lol, i need to give it another overhaul more storage!!! lol
I haven't played Starfield, but I really love the idea of a cargo hauler with weapons plopped on it. 🙂

I was using the Razorleaf and made it a C class ship that has an abundance of weapons. The con of it is that it doesn’t have much power to it and the fuel isn’t the best. Now I’m jumping between a ship I made and another ship I overhauled completely
Feel like the CF Ghost 3 is the best A class, small crew but shielded cargo, strong shields and its weapons are great for dog fighting
I took a stock Hamerhead into Kryx and didn't have any issues clearing the pirates that came out to greet me. I may opt for faster firing weapons but we'll see. Cargo is 1640, jump 26 ly, shields 525, and fuel is 140. It may end up being my daily driver.
I took the Razorleaf to Kryx stock. I got shredded repeatedly. This is why I'm here watching this video because I'm almost a c class pilot.
Gimme the biggest reactor and things that shred enemies.

Im finding it hard to give up my modified Shieldbreaker. I like the aesthetic as well which doesnt help.

I got enough credits and Shielbreaker it's there on my finalist. Looks real good, Interior seems nice. Wonder if I should do that one or Class C ships like Narwhal or Abyss.

I’m still running with the Razorleaf. I hate companions so crew size is a non issue.
Can you use all of your ships simultaneously like as an armada?? That would be pretty sweet, like have BIG cargo ships, glass cannon destroyers and other defensive ships etc ofc you'd have to hire pilots but... most companions talk about their old ship so they have piloting skills for at least the little ships.

Razorleaf is good but no bed and lower tiered. Pirate ship is a beast. Stronghold is my favorite.
Razorleaf DOES have a bed ... to the rear and to the left ... storage box right underneath it.
Look at the star eagle. It has great stats for being a quest reward. Class a, 29 reactor, 900+ shield, 2508 cargo, 16 jump, and has a value of almost 399000 credits.
The a in Aegis is silent and if it helps the word Aegis comes from Greek mythology
I just got the dragonfire for free but the vanguard version, took it over in a high LVL star system. It's called the vanguard destroyer
The Narwhal is likely going to be the only way to get a really good class C reactor, without having high player level. Or let me know if you found other ways.
Ship modules sales are not only gated by your Ship Design rank, but also player level. Which is kind of a bummer since you get fooled into rushing your design rank, but then find out it actually doesn't unlock you the juicy stuff you wanted. You need to grind levels too, which is absolutely not something I want to be doing with my character. I'm trying to enjoy the game, not farm for MMO raids.
I've also used the narwhal a bit and modified it to have more cargo and connecting habs. But I've noticed the narwhal struggle with landing spots, it does not go into my landing platforms and if I try to land on a POI where I can see a dedicated landing spots, it lands 4-500m away and I'll have to fast travel again so I don't have to go on foot while the ship stays where it landed
@@Ivrus i've had that same problem when returning to my outposts, even though i select my outpost as the landing spot, if i hit the button to jump right out of the ship, it'll put ME in the outpost, but the ship will be 400m away... it's a pretty minor annoyance, but odd.. it's done it with different ships, i think even with the frontier / upgraded starter ship..
@@briwanderz in my NG+ now, I've just upgraded/changed the frontier when I've had cash for it instead of working from a bigger ship. It lands on my landing pads now and not 500m away like the narwhal used to
I have over 2.5 million credits and I'm still perfectly happy with the FREE Kepler R.
I'm altering my ship cooonstantly. Haha Can neever be truly pleased with the layout, bot completely. I need a one stop shop, is what I feel like. Haha
make an outpost, build a ship landing pad with ship builder. THAT ship builder will have almost all the modules. almost. the manufacturers headquarter for each ship company has a few modules available you can't get at the outpost ship builder. mostly the bigger habs.
I like building ships but I don’t like having to jump around with random parts on the ship to just have to delete those parts and add the ones I actually want later on
The Galileo has some design flaws. Only two engines are a bit weak for it's size and the two big fueltanks do look great, but they are too heavy and should be swapped out for a better mass/speed/jump ratio. Also you really don't need that fuel capacity for a class A ship. Actually it's a decent ship in every other regard and i got one myself.
Dumb question:
Sometimes I upgrade weapons and it stops shooting. Is there a setting to make sure auto stuff continues shooting? If I buy a ship with an auto weapon I just don't upgrade the auto weapon because I can't figure out why they stop working when I do. It gives me a message about not being able to shoot them manually if I try to click but will not shoot at a screen full of enemies.
Dragon Fire is still my favorite ship
The Narwhal, the Orca III and the Watchdog/Crimson Fleet Ghost.
I would also go for the DragonFly.
Thr crimson fleet wright is the crossbow and the dragon fire is also the ecliptic something can't remember the name the ecliptic is better, style and weapons also free.
I really wanted to get the Dragonfire but by the time I had the money for it, it disappeared from the vendor :(

Best ship you can buy IMO is Dragonfire 2. Particle Beam Turrets are OP.
Step 1: Get piloting to Class C
Step 2: Get Ship Design to Max
Step 3: Steal a Class C ship or Buy the cheapest one you can
Step 4: Make your own ship that puts the rest of these to shame.
Dragonfire is amazing. I'm using it as my main ship atm.
I think its your characters lvl that determines which ships are available to buy

Why does the Narwhal in Starfield only show 1700 cargo? I thought it was available with 3300 cargo?

Had the frontier , razorleaf (Mantis) , Star Eagle and now at level 20 the Narwhal. Need a vid on modding it for weapons. I don't feel I can fire enough...Unless there is a keybinding I am missing. The auto particle beam fires itself so my left mouse button does nothing and the right mouse fires slowly.. Hope somebody does a vid on adding weapons on the Narwhal would like a manual particle beam.
if you want to replace the suto firing (turret i assume) with a manual firing you can just use the "upgrade" button instead of the full ship editor, then select the weapon and upgrade (or downgrade even) to whichever weapon you want, laser, particle, missile whichever..
@@briwanderz I missed that the G key fires a weapon. Still a little fuzzy on which weapon is which.

None of the ships I have did I buy. I took one ship over for a mission. One ship I took because it attacked me, one I got because mantis, the other my parent, I got my best one from Walter and my worst one from Barrett. And I stole a ship in a random mission because that what they wanted me to do lol
i hate being well actually guy but you can turn any ship to smugler ship by buying sheilded cargo and jammer at redmile.

What happens to all your stuff stored in cargo hold if you switch to new ship
stuff in the cargo hold, and even stuff just sitting around IN the ship will transfer to the cargo hold of the new ship... some have said stuff in the "captain's locker" does not transfer but i can't confirm that, to be safe you could make sure it's empty.
I like the UC ship interiors the best, the Taiyo ones like Narwhal are all dirty inside with ripped up furniture-I don’t get the design choice there like you bought it brand new for half a mil creds

My a class galileo at technician doesnt have the III behind the name, its much lower too. How do i find the III?
level up... ships (and other stuff) is based on player level, some stuff doesn't unlock until level 50-60.. the galileo will probably be replaced with galileo II at some point, then eventually galileo III. (or just get the first one and upgrade it yourself)

it's in the title "best ships you can buy". and the best ship you can buy isn't in the video either. it's a rare ship vendor spawn called Renegade. the Renegade 3 variant is the best ship you can buy from a ship vendor in the game.

Wish I would've known I was gonna get one for free or I would've told them to fuckin send it on the budget 😒. I got them to agree so I still got the class C but idk if it has all the bells and whistles.
