I didnt notice my silent runner in the document but i think its another C class honorable mention 👌 i went from razorleaf, to shieldbreaker to the Silent Runner
You may know this already, but in case you don't, you can join the Crimson fleet through the UC quest line. You'll be asked to infiltrate them as a part of your citizenship applications and destroy them from the inside.
One thing to note about the Razorleaf: It keeps its passive effect forever. Doesn't matter if you delete the whole ship, build a new one, paint it pink and call it the Loveboat, spacers will still flee in terror or act friendly at the sight of it. The fear effect is tied to the ship slot you receive the Razorleaf in, not to any specific part, color, name, or anything else. Apparently Starfield's answer to the question posed by Theseus's Ship is yes.
To add to this, if you appropriately upgrade the Razorleaf it can cost around $36k and can be made into arguably the best A Class offensive focused starship in the game. It won't be good for hauling goods or anything, but it doesn't need to. You want to smuggle stuff, that's cool. Go craft a secondary ship with max storage space that you can craft with a single gun on it and minimum ship requirements and never take off with it. If you swap home ships, store all you need on your cargo ships, swap back and go where you need to go, land and swap, you can smuggle anything, anytime, and anywhere. What you store on a ship that you swap between any ports will stay on that ship even when not using it so long as you don't edit the ship. Once you edit the ship, anything stored on it vanishes because the game is technically resetting the ship. Anyways, a RUclipsr named SwoleBenji has a great rebuild video of the Razorleaf that makes it an offensive powerhouse and explains how ship storage works if you didn't understand my poorly written explanation. Go check that out if you want to keep and pimp the razorleaf for quite a while. If equipped and used properly it hits waaaaaay above its weight class.
Tip for ship capturing: register thru your menu! Never thru a ship vendor! They take a like 20% markup. Doing it youself makes ship selling a viable way to make cash. ESPECIALLY eary game. You do this by being in a spaceport, selecting your ship in your menu, going into the builder and registering from there.
Something to add to that. When you board any enemy ship you want to steal- You can sit in the seat, go to the menu (all while still docked to your primary ship), go to ship, then set it to home Ship and register immediately. As soon as you exit the menu your current ship will undock and start to head home. At that moment you can target your current ship and dock with it, reboard, and make home ship again all without even leaving space. Makes jacking ships quick and easy because you can immediately continue your adventure without traveling to a port.
Got the razorleaf as my second ship, level'd my pilot skill up. Used the razorleaf to steal a class c pirate ship that was fully decked out with all compartments/stations(research, workshop, pharmaceutical etc). Been using that pirate ship for my space trekking since. With full constellation onboard 😊
@@wellwabbit6431It's not a Crimson Fleet ship, but it has that amazing lore that scares off Spacer pirates even if you strip it all the way down and aftermarket the entire thing. I got it early and have flown nothing else since. But I am going to shoot for the Star Eagle until I can level up to C-Class.
@@wellwabbit6431 it was a crimson fleet wraith, dont ask me what level it was. I honestly have no clue. i think i was around level 20 when i aquired it. Has been 10 days since.
Comparing Razorleaf to Eagle is pretty bad - you get Razorleaf from one mission, Star Eagle you need to complete a lot of quests. The best part of Razorleaf is its engine - you can't get them without perks in ship design. You can pretty much scrap the rest and rebuild it with more cargo, particle and em weapons for the cost of buying a different ready ship.
I know that it's been months, and people have found this out, but particle beam weapons on ships are absolutely OP in starfield. Having a range almost as far as missiles alone is great, but the dps each pb weapon has for both shields and hull completely outclasses everything else in terms of wide-scale easy use
What I hope they add to the game is that you can get a walkthrough of a ship that you want to buy. I hate purchasing ships and then getting abroad and finding out it's a mess and only has half of the items that you want on a ship. Basically, the game has you wasting money on ships because of the unknown factor.
@@nathangregory_ save the game before you buy the ship. Buy the ship. If you don't like the ship reload to the save file right before you bought the ship.
@@shiverman8 Ahhh.....that's what I thought you meant. I'm going through a hardcore run and buying nothing at all. This means if I want to get a better ship, I need to steal or hijack one. Also, I can't buy weapons, meds, and ammo. BUT the crafting table will be open for me to use.
@@nathangregory_ I am going to go on a limb and say this is probably a first playthrough? Since you do not know the layout of ships or what to go for. Its your way of fun, I get it, I used to be a permadeath player on a couple of MMOs long ago, its how I got alt-itis. Even now I have an aversion to dying in games that I can't shake. Nevertheless wouldn't it be better to wait to do that on a second full playthrough? It would be less frustrating and you can figure out what would work better with such a playthrough, which ships to go for using the method mentioned by shiverman8.
Do the Mantis quest early, get the Razorleaf and a great set of armor. Then go do the Freestar quests and get the Star Eagle. Then just use those until you are ready to build/buy/steal a C class. The rest of the As and all of the Bs are not even worth your time.
Thanks for this rundown. Two other factors I use for picking a ship is how it looks and interior flow. I do a lot of moving around in my ship and heading to airlock and ramp so if I have a bunch of ladders and such moving from cockpit to exit that's a no go for me. Using your info I plan to save game, buy a ship, do a tour. Then reload and check out a different one.
I use a modified Kepler S. Moving the 2 cargo boxes to the empty slots underneath allows for the cargo capacity to remain the same and makes room for an extra fuel tank under the grav drive and opens up enough space to stuff in a Fusor D402 class C reactor. Put some strong shields on it, upgrade the engines and slap on some high end particle beam cannons and she's golden.
I was lucky enough to use the beginning ship and take over a Va'ruun ship called the Va'ruun Prophecy... looks exactly like the Vanquisher. Has 1100 fuel, 900 hull, 4100 cargo, 876 shield, crew of 6. I upgraded the 21 C reactor to a 30 C reactor and im still messing with weapons on it but its an absolute beast and is my everything Starship right now
in my first play through, just a few hours in, i went to see what a Frackin station was and found a Va'ruun Hymn parked there. One of the coolest ships looks wise, i was so happy and used it for a long time.
Spoiler: the Narwhal is far from the best C-class. It's just the easiest to get. The actual best is the Renegade 3 which only appears randomly (really annoying) at either Paradiso or Neon vendors. But if you see it for sale and can buy it you should, it's an absolute unit of a ship with 40 Reactor Power, 2k base shield, 6 crew slots and 30LY range with default settings. If you hate the look of it you can keep in all the amazing components and build around them as you don't need Starship Design to move them once they are assigned to a ship. Just DO NOT DELETE THEM. Downside is it'll cost you half a million credits easy to purchase.
it seems a ship builder outpost pad can also have the renegade ship. you just have to delete and rebuild the pad in order to cycle the inventory, but it seems you need a high enough level to get version 3 to apppear.
The Renegade(s) can spawn at literally any vendor. I had it spawn at The Red Mile when I decided to randomly look at the ships that were in stock there. Low and behold it was present.
One of my favorite ships in the game is the Taiyo Mako. It is SO small & cute. I even built a custom one with better storage & 4 crew (even used the Razorleaf as the base because I enjoy the passive effect)
I love my Mako, have been wishing I had grabbed the Mako II when I saw it, but now I can't find it again. I upgraded the weapons on it to some pulse weapons, IR lasers and railguns and use it pirate raiding. I have the biggest A-class reactor, but have thinking about going B-class for more munch.
The annoying aspect of the crew capacity is that even if you get a ship with more than 4, you still have to reach the final tier of the social skill tree to have more than 4 active crew on any of your ships.
Shield breaker is decent, when you get to class C I recommend the narwhal at taiyo, i got an auto laser turret on the back aimed rearward so i get chased and do damage still
That's what I did in my first playthrough, but now I like leaving the Frontier alone and buying my own ship. Never again will Sarah hold a free ship over my head ... Vasco she has a point though.
ShieldBraker is good for her unique turrets at B lvl and engines. I upgraded it to C with 36 reactor and added shielded capacity to 3000 (The more shielded space you have, the less possibility to be detected). Maxed out Particles and EM. It’s a beast now. However you can only install four engines on Shieldbraker, but five on That free Rangers ship. I don’t understand why engines with torque of 18000 it comes with gives more speed vs engines with 21000, but that is off topic.
The Shieldbreaker holds a special place in my heart. It I was my first class B ship, and it’s the ship I used to lead the assault on the Key for the SysDef quest line, would recommend a million times over to anyone who prefers premade ships.
I got the Kepler S to lead the assault on the Key and used the money I got there to buy the Shieldbreaker. So the Kepler S is special to me....(that being said, I sold it immediately...rs)
For me it was the Achilles. It was my favorite until I found out I can customize beyond weapons. Then it became something else entirely until I got a Va’Run ship that’s modeled after the Galileo
I’m a big fan of the Silent Runner. Sold at HopeTech, It’s more of a mid-to-late game ship. It does have the most cargo you can get from a stock ship (6000kg+), it has powerful auto-turrets, reactor, shields, and grav drive. All around great ship if you have a couple 100,000 credits, you’re a hauler, and you don’t want to feel to bothered by combat.
Hi, thank you very much for the video and spreadsheet. Great work! I just wanted to add a note that i did pick up the crimson wight without doing the crimson fleet story. I love it. It felt relatively early in my play ( I have done more exploring/adventuring). Sorry did not keep track where ( did not know was usually a story unlock) i was was scanning planets and saw a spaceship wreck marked on planets surface. After landing to investigate I heard a boom and saw a spaceship landing in distance. My hand scanner showed it as a "ship landing" so went to investigate. I had a pop up mission when got there to clear the enemies and take possession. sorry to be winded trying to provide what info i can. Thanks again!
I generally design/build my own, my favorite base is one of the Pirate class B ships. It only costs 19k to register but comes with the really good Deimos cockpit which costs 45k by itself. I need to try a build with the cockpit with stairs.
Great video, a shame that I am a year late to seeing this, but it's always great to find a content creator that goes the extra mile with a spreadsheet to view as well.
Razorleaf is awesome for one reason - it's side most engines, you can have planty of cargo, fuel and weapons, and full speed with only 4 power to engines! It's the best ship in the early game for modifying!
The space ship tier doesn't start until you custom change a ship, you get insane power and that is just by slapping on nothing but PAR weapons on it, as that makes it cut down any enemy, like the throwing melted butter into the sun.
Or the "free" variant in the Crimson Fleet Ghost. It is easily capped in space and often shows up on planetary landing sites. Just run up the ramp and BAM!
Something of note with the Warwolf is that it can be difficult to find another ship that has the longer range jumping that some of the main quest requires if you aren't investing in piloting
Got a starborn guardian IV at level 35 halfway through the campaign by running up to it as it landed near me as i had landed to. You have to get to the door at the top of the wing before it does the final placement animation an you get a .25 second window of entry.
@@gregphipps7082 yeah ive since found out its really just a roll of the dice, some people can get it and some cant. People literally called me a liar an im just chilling like "dude what" as hundreds were like oh yeah me to
I had a Class C UC Autobahn fall in my lap. I was on a level 75 planet and it landed at a fracking station within my view. I went over to it, but no one was there and the door was locked. So, I picked the lock at made it my own. Since it was free, I upgraded the engines, reactor, and shield generator. The weapons it had were solid enough. I may do another round of upgrades on it when I hit level 60 and all parts become available. I have access to everything in vendor inventory it's just that the game only puts certain items into vendor inventory at certain levels.
I also like the va'ruun revelation, ecliptic claymore, and crimson fleet banshee lines of ships. Higher tier ones like the revelation II vs revelation I are obviously better. You can only get these ships through boarding in space or landed on planets. Some ships come with parts that require specific skills. You can tear down one of these ships and rebuild it around those parts if you want even without the specific skills required. But you can't take the part off and place it on another ship without the skills unlocked.
I found a Claymore and did pretty much an entire rebuild once I had some serious credits. It's base systems needed some improvements but overall it was a fantastic C class to start with since it was free and gave me basics to go off of.
I look for a Claymore in every playthrough. It's my favorite C-class to upgrade and modify. I did manage to add a Va'ruun Revelation to my fleet last night, and I agree that it's fun as well. I sold the Razorleaf as soon as I got it this time because I already had a Claymore. Matter of fact, my entire fleet in my current game (except for the Guardian and the Frontier) consists of stolen ships from Va'ruun Zealots, Spacers, and Ecliptic. But then again every crew member this run is wearing a swimsuit, too, so... yeah. All aboard the SS Seraglio.
To get the Kepler R, I found it was a little more finicky than just saying to go with the big budget. I had to play around with the dialogue with the design team. And ultimately, I discovered the deciding factor when I completed the quest for the 6th time by save scumming to get the Class C ship was to have them meditate at the end instead of compromise.
@@dsx968 yeah, I'm sure there's more than one dialogue path that gets you there. I was getting a little frustrated, because everything I was reading in Reddit and other guides were saying you have to get them to compromise. I finally just tried the meditation and it worked.
So, the conditions you need to meet are: going with the large budget, then telling every member of the design team you love their idea and it should be included in the design. I’ve done the quest twice now and I always lead the “team building meditation” at the end and I’ve gotten the Kepler R both times, but I’ve seen some say that you can compromise and still get it. To be safe though I’d just follow the steps I laid out and do the big budget, telling every team member their idea is great, lead team meditation.
Just so y'all know. You can actually go back to the simulator and redo it. I did it a while back. And needed 9 more ships to max out piloting. I went to the sim, and it let me go in and do it. I've heard a bunch of people say once you do it, you can't go back. But you can.
I never struggled with ships. I did the star eagle mission early by accident because i have no idea when df i even started that questline. Couple hours later, boom im on star eagle. I threw a bunch of points in tech so i wasnt losing much ship fights. Because of that, i never had to spend any money and before i knew it, i had enough money for narwhale and by chance my piloting was maxed. What a game
I'm using a Crimson Fleet Banshee that I disabled and boarded. One of my family members is rocking the Wight II. You do not need to do the Crimson fleet missions to use the ships, jsut disable the engines in a dogfight and board them. Your companions have no problem with this and even help.
I'm in the same club I had to go "Kill" a wight and disabled it and took it over. I'm LV22 and been using it since LV17. It totally blasts everything into space dust especially since I replaced the lasers and ballistics with a double Particle beam setup and added a scan jammer to lower the chance of contraband being detected as I don't always remember that I have it, since you can sell the contraband at somewhere else than the Crimson Fleet. Oddly enough I first got the ghost from them and then upgraded to the banshee and then the wight, only ships I've ever bothered to get all the others just became dust.
Oh man you haven’t seen what a House Varuun Class B ship does! I stole a very cool ship of theirs (landed on a planet) and it’s shield/fire power are absolutely insane! I faced two class C maxed out pirate ships plus 2 class B fighters, of which I took all of them out at ease lol
Crimson Fleet ships are some of my favorites, which you get access to in the Deep Cover quest line. Crimson Fleet also gives you some hilarious crew member options...the way they insult people you are fighting.
Thanks for the guide! The Frontier's hull and shield are a joke. I bought the Marathon first, but didn't like the cramped feeling inside and having to walk up the ladder. The War Horse is the perfect upgrade to the Frontier if you like that layout. Now I'm much better off in space battles, have more ship storage, and it didn't cost much compared to some options. I'll gladly fly it until something better comes along on my playthrough. Cheers!
I’m level 33 and still sticking with the Razorleaf. Maxed it out as much as I can with 74 Par, 39 Par, and 4 EM. Shield is 1540 with specialist crew. Cargo is all hidden at 1850kg. Got all the cool widgets from the Crimson Fleet missions which I don’t know if you can get elsewhere. Speed is 150 and 86 manouverabilty. I can destroy and capture anything so far in seconds. Cherry picking your crew helps buff shield, weapons and engines. Basically I don’t see a need to move to a class B. Actually looking forward to meeting some higher level ships soon!
I have one nit-pick. You never comment about how woefully under-powered some of these are. What good is all the weapons, engines & shields, if you can't power them all?
Aww, you left off the ship that's so bad it is cute. The UC Prison Shuttle you can get from the Crimson Fleet chain. I'm sure most people just sell it.
I personally rebuild the "Razerleaf" into a Class B that takes on major class C and class M ships by myself. This is the only ship for me. good video, don't worry bout the haters... chin up
Great video and not sure if anyone else has commented about the Starborn Guardian ships being something you can steal. I lucked out and had a bunch of them land close by and practically land on top of me. I quickly ran to the door before anyone showed up and just kept spamming the A button and now I have the ship before going to NG+ This seems to be easiest on planets with temples, just bounce around from what structure, life sign, anomaly, etc. and eventually they start landing nearby. GL
On the econhaul, I stole one from some spacers and after some upgrades, it was my mainstay until I got my B class piloting which by this time I had the skill I managed to overwhelm a bounty hunter group and capture an Aegis ship. Thanks to you I will watch for a Narwhal to capture.
I heavily modified the razorleaf , I am 37 and destroys ships lvl 60 , I don't know if turrets are good because to turn them off you have to power the node down completely and I always board ships so the last one needs to stay up, I only use pulse lasers and an emp and just melts everything
I got the Crimson Fleet Wight from a randomly generated Tracker Mission where I boarded the ship and took it over. It was after I had already joined the Crimson Fleet and added a 15,000 bounty but was worth it overall I think.
So, just a note. I was able to boars a guardian iv without going to the unity. Just have all the artifact pieces in your personal inventory after they are put into your ships hold. They weigh nothing.
Just found out there are a few mkIII ships, the vanquisher and crimson fleet wight being two that do have max level 40 reactors, i don’t know if they’re unlocked in a new game plus a or just from being a high level
i think the Razorleaf is supposed to be underwhelming. in lore it's OLD. it's like getting a beat up old car that is nonetheless classic. the game (Bethesda) want you to tinker with it because you can strip it down to nothing and build a different ship from scratch and that ship SLOT will always have the Razorleaf passive. the Star Eagle is the shiny, new, modern ship. it's GTG. Razorleaf NEEDS work. it's like the armor, it looks good and it's legendary. but it comes with, i think, 1 or 2 mods, the boostpack is basic. you have to upgrade the suit too. the Mantis isn't space Batman. the last Mantis was like a sad old space Batman who held onto the mantle way too long and now most of his gadgets are out of date and only work half the time. that all being said, you can never get the Razorleaf as good as the Star Eagle can get. probably not as good as the stock Eagle. EDIT, not and keep it looking original anyway.
That Ecohaul you showed I stole one from a place on New Altlantis was a farm or something on the planet. But was called a USEC EcoHaul. Just had to pick the lock on with i think an advance lock, no one was aboard so i just took off and got the ship. I use it to visit my mining outpost to sell my extra marials. Good little ship for a certain hauling role if I dont wanna take out my large cargo pirating A-Class ship I made.
Practice flying in the UC simulator till you can beat the final wave. The mechanics of thrust vectoring is SUPER useful as is the final perk that gives you instant lock on break which you can cheese with boost skipping. You can cancel boost by tapping decelerate and keep your boosted forward momentum. Break any missile lock and use angular velocity to lose any lasers then thrust vector and hit them with all you have with lock on. Doing this basically gives you high uptime boost as you can always save some to break lock and get your speed up. You stack the perks like the one I mentioned and the lower enemy damage when you are locked on and you can keep your shields against 4-5 enemies. IF you can keep people off your shields a B class can be kitted in a way that you have max speed and maneuverability with less than 1000 mass with 1200 storage and six members who boost your subsystems. You are untouchable and can go toe to toe with anything except some Tier 3 alpha strikes with EM which will get you to your hull but a quick regen and boost skip and you are in firing position. I The best base canvas for a B class is the Celestial II for a max performance build. Staying at top speed and under 1k mass two banks of turrents and forward firing dual 107 mauler autocannons carve up hulls after your auto turrets melt down the shields while you get into firing position. PBO 100 auto neutron turrents or disruptor 3320s both work and a mix of both is what I use. I only control the forward firing auto cannons which can be swapped out for something with longer range but the the way these feel I feel like I am piloting the defiant from star trek. You can strip off 20-30 mass removing some of the cosmetic pieces keeps you comfortably under 1k at 850.
I agree with most things said here but Id invest in a stronghold. You can take off the struts behind the front bumpers, then add the best engines in the game. Mine has particle weapons up front, which are maxed at 4. EM weapons maxed for disabling ships and 3 missiles 280Bs, that I rarely have to use. Is slightly less maneuverable but has an infirmary, Workshop, captains quarters and crew one. 9 crew, maxed shields and a 40 reactor. It basically melts anything in front of it. You can do all research and mods on board. Id invest in one of them and put the wide bridge on it from demos. 10k cargo 480 shielded.
Shields are the esiest to sort out, if you decide to join Vanguard and just do the introduction quest, you get access to the Vanguard shileds, wich are some of the strongest in the game so just replace your old shield with a Vanguard and you are set. Also, if you want EM weapons, go steal an Ecliptic ship that lands close to you, they usualy come with EM at start.
There’s a unique version of the Pterosaur you can get towards the end of the Freestar Ranger quest line by boarding that comes with a pretty cool paint job.
One thing worth mentioning is the way how you can rank up your pilot skill fairly easy and fast. Just start the UC-Vanguard questline in New Atlantis. Right at the beginning you will be tasked with an evaluation of your flying skills. Thus you have to use the inhouse flight simulator, located at the lowest floor in the building. This simulator session has you fight enemy ships, divided in tiers up to tier 6. After beating the first simulator session and reporting back to the questgiver, regardless if you pursue the Vanguard questline or not, from now on you can use the flight simulator as often as you want to. And every ship you destroy in this simulator counts for the piloting skill challenges, meaning you can rank up your piloting skill in a very short time without going into space and fighting real enemies - at all (provided you have enough skill points to raise the skill ofc.). I raised my piloting skill from class a to class c ships in about 45 minutes. I hope this tip is a bit useful and good luck in the starfield!
Narwhal is a complete waste of money. By time you have that much money you should be good enough to steal a really good ship and then modify it in the ship builder. That will get you the best ship in the game
Narwhal might be silly looking, but it is almost impossible to lose a space battle in it. Its an absolute tank and you can equip it with even better particle weapons and turrets. I threw another 100k in upgrades on it.
Great work and comparisons. QUESTION: Is the Constellation Hab the only one with a special room for Vasco? I'd prefer to keep him from getting stuck on the furniture. A note on the Keplers from the quest -- Those aren't the only variants. I don't know all of the factors, but I have seen people get at least 6 variations. The 1st Kepler S I saw was actually a Class A that looked like a shaped brick and had over 2k Cargo. The streamer listened to his chat and immediately loaded to try other options and got something like the Kepler R featured here. Never got to see the interiors. Also, I keep hearing people say things like doing the chant vs having everyone trim their design will determine S vs R. Not true. Seems to be 1 data point out of several. You can totally do the trimming and get the kitchen sink budget. Not sure if the S model is the only one with major shape options (probably), but I would love to see someone dive into the variations. Now that I'm "below the fold," it should be noted that the "end" ship gets upgrades as you keep touching Unity. Pretty minor, but they do happen for the low-low cost of everything you've built up.
I stole a UC Chimera III C class and i love it. I upgraded fuel, added cargo and more engines and its a beast. It has a 38 reactor which is nice as im only lvl 30. Only downside is i got a massive bounty for boarding and killing a UC ship but still cheaper than buying one.
Regarding the "Overdesigned" quest line: If you finish the quest line for the best outcome, you don't end-up with an either/or scenario, you end-up with compromise. My Kepler S came with a Crew of 5, better shields and hull than yours.
So, here it is, its the future, they have starships that can travel light yeara in seconds. Robots that can do almost anything. And yet, not a single quad, electric or fueled, or even an electric all terrain bike??? Or how about a drone pod where you can launch a drone from the comfort of the cockpit to do the probing and resource recording???
I’m actually a fan of ecliptic ships. I run into them consistently, stole 2 bayonets and modified them, they became my early game ships. I had them spawning consistently on mars. Later game I got attacked by bounty hunters, disabled the ship and stole it, I think it was called a claymore, idk became my new ship. I won’t lie most of these ships have better stats then either, I like them because they are easy to get ahold of even early game, I like the straightforward layout, and I just really liked the way the claymore looked. Narwhal was definitely my favorite ship on this list though, you can’t beat that reactor.
I’ve found some really good high level ships from random encounters i got a class c ship with pretty strong base weapons with a massive hull and almost maxed out reactor and I reduced some of the mass and added some cargo and it’s overall a great ship
Hi all, currently level 90 and 380 hours in game. Fly to level 75 moons, land. Wait for NPC III rated ships to land. ( or savescum) Jet pack up to the roof and then scan ( F key on PC ), it tells you the rating level ( I, II, III, IV ). Only IV I have seen are all small class A, not worth it Drop down and enter ( if door is locked, its basically a free ship for you ) Best ones are UC Civil shuttle III ( Abys Trekker ), UC Reef III ( huge powerful container ship ), LIST or Colonial ships ( all big container ships ), Pirate Wight III, UC Galbank III In space, try get Renegade or Vigilant ( very cool , expensive Freestar ships ) - only in space board, as on planet they are dialogue bound, you can not capture landed Freestar. UC Galbank III ( Super OP ship, very expensive with great loot, level 40 reactor but only 4 crew slots, low cargo ) These all have level 38-40 reactors, powerful guns etc. Use as base ships to build your own or sell for easy 20K+ profit plus cargo ( pay off any bounties at your base mission terminals, rinse repeat ) Use stealth to one shot enemies ( remove suit or the Starborn suit is best ..super quiet ) and you can do a take over without any bounty penalties Best guns are Class 3 PLA turrets + 3x PLA shooters ( kills any ship in game in less than 5 seconds, doesnt matter how many you are up against, nothing can touch you, they have a 3.2K range and will kill things before you can even target enemy, missiles are garbage and with only two weapon sets, you have energy pips to spare * Don't waste your time staying with the Razorleaf or Star Eagle, those are gimp compared to a III Class C ( depending on the weapons you get or can unlock ) Class B shield 1500 are best ( low mass, very big shield ) Neon City engines are the best *Ship skills and skilled crew are OP ~ get them ASAP ! *Always unassign crew first if you have more than the ship you are about to capture can handle, or you will lose them in the Mother ship change over
I like the guardian ship, but I also wish there was a way to upgrade it. I loved my narwhal and modified heavily to have all the shielded cargo capacity. Need to go get it again.
It's funny because I got Econohaul for free...😅 it landed near me on some random planet, UC colonists looking for spare parts (a common random encounter). I told them I didn't have it and then I stole their ship.😂
I did something relatively similar. Saw it land and nabbed it while the crew were out getting a tan. Easiest steal ever. Not even a gun shot needed. Great ship overall but lacks decent firepower against multiple tough enemy ships. Since completing the Ranger quest the Star Eagle has been my go to ship. It rinses most ships without getting a scratch…..but the interior layout is huge and confusing (easy to get lost inside) and there’s no research or workbench stations so you can’t work on anything inside. Fab ship though and will do me until I’m able to build cat c standard ships.
"The Razorleaf really isn't that easy to modify for better stats" I modded my Razorleaf into a class C combat monster with 75 damage per shot (both shield and hull) at a fire rate of 6.33, 1500 shields and 29 reactor, without disrupting the basic shape of the ship. The only thing I couldn't improve was the cargo capacity. And that's not a problem because you can exploit a bug to make any ships cargo capacity effectively infinite.
I’m so excited. Been playing for a couple weeks now. I’ve just been grinding missions and looting. Finally got my max pilot and max ship designer skills. I have 350k creds, I’m thinking I’ll save to 400k then start building. I want to make a smaller star fighter type ship.
This thing is a nightmare. This ship has nothing going for it except the shield. 2200 fuel, who needs that? You can jump from on side of the map to the other with 800. And the interior, what a nightmare!
No, best reactor is 40 (the Sf sheared flow). Using a perk you can increase the amount of juice you get from a reactor by 5 increasing the SF energy output to 45.
You don't need to side with the crimson fleet for that last ship just if you wanna buy that ship. You can still come across them in space and liberate the ship from the pirates
15:10 Not necessarily. You have to make two choices. Go with big budget and do teambuilding for Kepler R ship. I did big budget and compromise and got Kepler S ship. Was disappointed.
The whole mantis quest felt like it underdelivered. I got one of the weirdest looking armor sets in the game and a ship that is about as hideous as they come. The interior and exterior and landing bay placement are fine examples of the biggest gripes I’ve got with ships
You mention the Crimson Wight 2 as an honourable mention, only because it's locked behind the Crimson fleet quest, but there is an identical ship available from New Atlantis called the Crossbow.
The Next Level engines and weight of Razorleaf when you mod it correctly make it a better offensive ship than the Kepler R. You can obliterate everything at range. The weight also gives you jump distance of a good B class ship. I'm still using it as my fighter.
The only benefit the Razorleaf has over the Kepler R is maybe the passive effect that causes attackers to flee/become passive. Beyond that the Kepler R is better in almost every way, especially if you complete the previous Walter quest “All That Money Can Buy” diplomatically by suggesting Stroud-Ecklund and Slayton Aerospace collaborate. That unlocks the SAL-6830 engines, the most powerful engines in the game. Slap them on the Kepler immediately and you can have a full hab suite of every kind, full weaponry loadout AND ~10,000 cargo capacity while maintaining mobility in the mid 90’s.
I modded the Razorleaf to look like Space Batman's ship (Batwing), while still having the core still look like the Mantis' ship with extras built on it.

I didnt notice my silent runner in the document but i think its another C class honorable mention 👌 i went from razorleaf, to shieldbreaker to the Silent Runner
You don't have to do the crimson fleet quests to get a wight. Most of my fleet in the mid-game were captured pirate ships.
Here man your an actual legend making this spreadsheet that's you 1000% got yourself a new subscriber keep up the good work man👍
You may know this already, but in case you don't, you can join the Crimson fleet through the UC quest line.
Not sure if tgis is beneficial as wr gonna be missing exp but makes ne wonder once modding tools are avaible if we can create unique effect shit etc
Loveboat 🤣
Totally gonna rename it the ship of Theseus, thanks bro LOL
It makes no sense why they would make a ship like that. I would never use it for that very reason.
Well thanks man didn't know that. That'll make my pirating waaaaay more profitable now
Something to add to that. When you board any enemy ship you want to steal- You can sit in the seat, go to the menu (all while still docked to your primary ship), go to ship, then set it to home
Ship and register immediately. As soon as you exit the menu your current ship will undock and start to head home. At that moment you can target your current ship and dock with it, reboard, and make home ship again all without even leaving space. Makes jacking ships quick and easy because you can immediately continue your adventure without traveling to a port.
@@joshuaowens570 God I wish i knew this before i did the grind for max level ship command
Don't even need to be in a spaceport. Can always do it from menu
Cool Thanks man! that's a great tip!
What’s a full constellation?
@@CallsItLikeISeizeIts meant all members of the organisation with that
Is it a crimson fleet ship? If so which lvl is it
@@wellwabbit6431It's not a Crimson Fleet ship, but it has that amazing lore that scares off Spacer pirates even if you strip it all the way down and aftermarket the entire thing.
I didn't know.. I'm glad you kept describing why particle beams are so good even though you thought everyone already knew 😂
What I hope they add to the game is that you can get a walkthrough of a ship that you want to buy. I hate purchasing ships and then getting abroad and finding out it's a mess and only has half of the items that you want on a ship. Basically, the game has you wasting money on ships because of the unknown factor.
Use a save file?
@@shiverman8 Explain.
Can u not tour before buying?
@@CallsItLikeISeizeIts Nope, you have to buy. But as beckyp says, do a quick save before purchasing.
@@fabiandonvil It works, I just did it. Got the Renegade 3 on first try. I'm at level 74.
Fairly sure it's base shield is 1300ish but it's a unit nonetheless :D
The class ranks are weird to me. They feel backwards. Like A should be the best while C should be the worst, instead of how it is.
Agreed
One of my favorite ships in the game is the Taiyo Mako. It is SO small & cute. I even built a custom one with better storage & 4 crew (even used the Razorleaf as the base because I enjoy the passive effect)
It’s amazing for a neon based character, give it the best engines you can and it’s amazing
Yeah I was pretty salty when I got the star eagle and learned real quick that more crew space does not mean more crew yet
I just kept upgrading the frontier until it became the final frontier. Then I bought shield breaker and upgrading it as I go. Not class c yet
That was a great presentation Sir! I LOVE that spreadsheet :)
I really like the design of the watchdog series of ships.. something about that shape and the way the engines rotate just feels great to me.
Or the "free" variant in the Crimson Fleet Ghost. It is easily capped in space and often shows up on planetary landing sites. Just run up the ramp and BAM!
@@nolgrothand if you are high enough level you can buy the hellhound version of the ghost.
I guees I got lucky. I was able to finally enter after it landed. First time in over 100 tries
I had them compromise and still got it. When talking to them all earlier you have to be positive in your responses and not dump on their ideas.
Other than pilot c is there a level requirement to fly Kepler r
How did you miss the Silent Runner cargo ship? It has a 34 reactor, *6060 cargo space* and 30 LY jump.
EDIT: Forgot to add 975 shield and *1164 hull.*
Where is it?
What’s it’s actual name
I think it’s in hopetown
@@x67th It's actual name is ... *Silent Runner.* Go figure.
@@randyq378Where did you go to find some good ships to steel ?
@@PreadyxI've mostly stolen them from bounty missions. But idk this guy

Ship's name?
Crimson Fleet ships are some of my favorites, which you get access to in the Deep Cover quest line. Crimson Fleet also gives you some hilarious crew member options...the way they insult people you are fighting.
I usually do my part to go for the crossbow 3. I love the ships looks, and it's got mostly everything I need.
Incredibly useful, especially because of the included spreadsheets, thanks!
I have one nit-pick. You never comment about how woefully under-powered some of these are. What good is all the weapons, engines & shields, if you can't power them all?
You're not supposed to power them all
You're supposed to use power management and switch to what you need in the moment.
@@KaitouKaiju I seen plenty of designs where there is enough power for everything, including at least one point for the Grav Drive.
Aww, you left off the ship that's so bad it is cute. The UC Prison Shuttle you can get from the Crimson Fleet chain. I'm sure most people just sell it.
I also don't see the Wanderwell from the Kid Stuff Trait.
I quickly ran to the door before anyone showed up and just kept spamming the A button and now I have the ship before going to NG+
This seems to be easiest on planets with temples, just bounce around from what structure, life sign, anomaly, etc. and eventually they start landing nearby.
Thanks for being so thorough saved me a lot of heartache
Thankyou for all these infos about ships it helps alot on how to have a good beginner ship.
The best base canvas for a B class is the Celestial II for a max performance build.
I love when flying Razorleaf i get those reactions, like Rejects beg me to let them go and even payd me. The terror in their voices is priceless
Actually I boarded and took a Crimson Fleet Wight and love it. Replace the engines with class b engines and bump the reactor and it's a great ship.
Thanks for this video. Can you do a video of how you upgraded the Narwal sometime as I like the look of yours very much
One thing worth mentioning is the way how you can rank up your pilot skill fairly easy and fast.
Nice spreadsheet, but surprised you're missing Mobility and Speed numbers for each.
29:50 I was able to hijack one off the ground in my first play through. I got to it before it finished landing and spammed the entryway.
you can get the starborn ship without doing new game +, gotta use slow motion aid and speed aid steal it when it is landing near you on a planet.
Hahaha... I saw it once, I thought it kinda weird ship, never saw it again so far. I wonder if it will fly away after stealing it.
Their doors are blocked with kinda mist or whatever so u can't even enter .....
I put a cargo hab on my ship, he uses that to power down, can talk to him there.
@@manofwar556 The Frontier comes with a "Ballast Cargo" module placed behind the landing bay. I think that's the 1 I'm looking for.
Loved the Pelican, that was the first ship I actually bought I had enough for the narwhal but I didn’t have the skills for it lol.
The moment i saw a spreadsheet i hit like and subscribe 🤓
U can also find the narwhal in space if u happen upon the crimson fleet with the exact same stats, maybe even 1 more stat to distribute...
Can you do a video showing how you customized your Narwhal ship please?
So, here it is, its the future, they have starships that can travel light yeara in seconds. Robots that can do almost anything. And yet, not a single quad, electric or fueled, or even an electric all terrain bike??? Or how about a drone pod where you can launch a drone from the comfort of the cockpit to do the probing and resource recording???
Empyrion Galactic survival has these things, maybe check it out, great game.
( or savescum)
Jet pack up to the roof and then scan ( F key on PC ), it tells you the rating level ( I, II, III, IV ). Only IV I have seen are all small class A, not worth it
Drop down and enter ( if door is locked, its basically a free ship for you )
Best ones are UC Civil shuttle III ( Abys Trekker ), UC Reef III ( huge powerful container ship ), LIST or Colonial ships ( all big container ships ), Pirate Wight III, UC Galbank III
In space, try get Renegade or Vigilant ( very cool , expensive Freestar ships ) - only in space board, as on planet they are dialogue bound, you can not capture landed Freestar.
UC Galbank III ( Super OP ship, very expensive with great loot, level 40 reactor but only 4 crew slots, low cargo )
These all have level 38-40 reactors, powerful guns etc.
Use as base ships to build your own or sell for easy 20K+ profit plus cargo ( pay off any bounties at your base mission terminals, rinse repeat )
Use stealth to one shot enemies ( remove suit or the Starborn suit is best ..super quiet ) and you can do a take over without any bounty penalties
Best guns are Class 3 PLA turrets + 3x PLA shooters ( kills any ship in game in less than 5 seconds, doesnt matter how many you are up against, nothing can touch you, they have a 3.2K range and will kill things before you can even target enemy, missiles are garbage and with only two weapon sets, you have energy pips to spare
* Don't waste your time staying with the Razorleaf or Star Eagle, those are gimp compared to a III Class C ( depending on the weapons you get or can unlock )
Class B shield 1500 are best ( low mass, very big shield )
Neon City engines are the best
*Ship skills and skilled crew are OP ~ get them ASAP !
"The Razorleaf really isn't that easy to modify for better stats"
I modded my Razorleaf into a class C combat monster with 75 damage per shot (both shield and hull) at a fire rate of 6.33, 1500 shields and 29 reactor, without disrupting the basic shape of the ship. The only thing I couldn't improve was the cargo capacity. And that's not a problem because you can exploit a bug to make any ships cargo capacity effectively infinite.
I’d like an engine attached to a cargo hold studded with turrets. And a sign on it that says “Leave me alone or die”.
I just bought the War Horse. 28 reactor and good shields. Replaced everything else. Great ship.
I use a ship named: [UC] MULE. It is an class A ship and i pick it up on an planet or moon.Fuel 200,Hull 531,Cargo 1460,Crew 2.
Great guide friend, helping a lot specially for me that started the game now.
I’m so excited. Been playing for a couple weeks now. I’ve just been grinding missions and looting. Finally got my max pilot and max ship designer skills. I have 350k creds, I’m thinking I’ll save to 400k then start building. I want to make a smaller star fighter type ship.
You had me at spreadsheet! Sub earned!
Stronghold is a beast especially when you upgrade the weapons but a serious down side is the amount of ladders in that thing
This thing is a nightmare. This ship has nothing going for it except the shield. 2200 fuel, who needs that? You can jump from on side of the map to the other with 800. And the interior, what a nightmare!
Just so you know 36 isn’t the best reactor in the game. There are ships that start at 38 and 40 and the best reactor you can buy is 50 I believe.
No, best reactor is 40 (the Sf sheared flow). Using a perk you can increase the amount of juice you get from a reactor by 5 increasing the SF energy output to 45.
@@pragmaticeagle4832 I have a reactor that starts at 46 or 48 I am over 100 and I know what I am talking about
You don't need to side with the crimson fleet for that last ship just if you wanna buy that ship. You can still come across them in space and liberate the ship from the pirates
I knew the shieldbreaker was special the moment I saw it. I bought that bad boy and I’m waiting for the money and levels for class c
15:10 Not necessarily. You have to make two choices. Go with big budget and do teambuilding for Kepler R ship. I did big budget and compromise and got Kepler S ship. Was disappointed.
20:24 of course they got a lot of bang. That's why it's a vacation place. There are no Pirates. I heard it like 200 times from the guards..
20:42 * oops
The whole mantis quest felt like it underdelivered. I got one of the weirdest looking armor sets in the game and a ship that is about as hideous as they come. The interior and exterior and landing bay placement are fine examples of the biggest gripes I’ve got with ships
I personally bought the dragon fire and rebuilt a lot of it and perfected it. And everyone talks about the renegade 3 but I can’t find it anywhere
I have that ship surprised it’s not one of the top ships in this video..bought it in Neon.
@@joekenny7553 that’s where people say it is but it’s not there for me. What level are you?
@@triplethreatgaming8583it isn't consistently sold anywhere. It randomly appears sometimes and not others.
You mention the Crimson Wight 2 as an honourable mention, only because it's locked behind the Crimson fleet quest, but there is an identical ship available from New Atlantis called the Crossbow.
The Econohaul class A ship is the 1st ship I acquired by theft on surface of a moon. Stole it from a grp of miners.
Thanks for sharing the spreadsheet!
I modded the Razorleaf to look like Space Batman's ship (Batwing), while still having the core still look like the Mantis' ship with extras built on it.
Great list!! Definitely gunna check some of these out
