Hi Burra Beats, I have the P-6 and really enjoy it. My main reason for the purchase was a feature the 404 and MPC don’t have: the different sampling rates. Combined with the adjustable lofi fx amount, it sounds amazing (Dibia$e was joking the P-6 might make him retire his 202, to give you an idea of how it sounds). I know you already own a 202, but the P-6 has other cool features: it’s super portable, take it with you, plug your phone via USB or use the internal mic, and you’re ready to sample and make a beat. Like a PO-33 KO but better. Auto-chop and granular are fun. Resample is the default mode. The step sequencer is better than the 404’s, and I love step parameter locks (Elektron style) & probability mode. Not trying to sell you a P-6 😅 but I can’t hide I love it.
No opinion about the Move as I am not a “clip launching’ or Ableton Live fan. I am starting to see a lot a people comment about their move stopping turning on or becoming a brick after a couple of days so maybe it’s safe not to rush to get the first units.

I have the Akai MPC One and it has adjustable sample and bit rate through Air Lo - Fi and Bit Rate reduction through the sample editor . They are very good. And I even use Air Flavor Pro.

@@EdwinRagland-x9v you’re right these effects sound amazing. It’s a matter of personal preference, I like the character of the SP202 and SP1200, which I kinda get closer to with the P-6 (especially using the old school trick : pitching up the record, sampling, then pitching the sample back down).

@@kernelpaniiic That's why I use them. I try to get as close as possible to the Sp1200 sound.

The problem with this is that the new MPC's do not sound great, and flipping samples like this doesn't instil any music theory. You'll have no idea what key or scale you are in.

that was the whole point… Sample plus drums… very rare the beat maker was actually trained in music theory. Whats your point?

As someone who has owned and have used pretty much every MPC from 60 to One, the new MPC's will sound exactly as good or as bad as the person using them wants to / can make them sound. Figuring out and controlling the dynamics can be a hassle in most MPC's, and I find that volume dynamics is what makes or breaks the "quality" of the the beat and the sound often.
Also, technically music theory is present in all music making, whether it's consciously applied or not. And honestly, the vast majority of the time theory is not necessary. I only use theory when I need to solve a problem I have when making music, whether that's composing or making beats. And even then I only use whatever theory I need for that particular problem.
People have different ways of approaching music making. Some people come at it from theory, some people just vibe. Some people combine both in different quantities. All of the above are perfectly valid. If it sounds good to you, it's good.
