Especially moderators are nasty. The controlling of speech is one of the worst things you can do. Creates echo chambers making the divides 10x worse.
True moderators AREN’T the nasty ones but usually the people operating as or even just tagged as ‘moderators’ are actually just normal people who partake in the group or forum or whatever and obviously have some sort of bias. This is what ultimately turns each group/forum (and then later the entire platform in some cases) into echo chambers. A true moderator would be someone who is totally unbiased towards either side of a topic and should apply the rules of the forum as well as the general rules of decency without hesitation. Obviously AI would make a fantastic moderator once it’s smart enough to be able to.
