- Demetrious Johnson advanced to the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix semifinals with a scintillating submission finish over Yuya Wakamatsu at ONE: A NEW ERA. Making his debut on the global stage, "Mighty Mouse" knew he was in a tough bout as the Japanese phenom's slick striking repeatedly caught the flyweight legend. However, Johnson pulled away in the second frame taking down his Japanese opponent to the ground. Scrambling to get up, Johnson capitalized on Wakamatsu's mistake and locked in a tight guillotine choke to force the tap and secure victory on his ONE debut.

I love One Championship, but seriously guys you need to stop zooming in on the fighters. What they are doing with their feet is just as important as what they are doing with their upper body, maybe more so. This is a really big problem with filming combat sports, you cant reinvent a best angle and distance to film a fight from, its just the way it is. You gotta see every part of their bodies to appreciate what they are doing
Spot on. It's exactly what I was thinking. One FC fights don't look good because they're poorly filmed. The cameraman should take in consideration the other things that appear on the screen. There also should be more light and they should film in 60p because the motion blur makes it hard to make out what's going on.
foot work is incredibly under appreciated in most combat sports. It's a damn shame

I love how one of DJ's coaches goes to pick him up at the end and DJ tells him to stop. Japan truly has a culture built on respect, props to both fighters.
That weird sort of ankle pick reversal at 1:43 was clean and this guy is young by MMA standards. Makes you wonder if the talent gap for UFC and other organizations is really as they say it is because DJ is in the GOAT conversation on some analysts lists and this young guy gave him a run. Salute to both fighters.

My opinion as just some random guy on the internet, ONE's talent in the lighter divisions is superior to the UFC's. Once you get to 155 or 170, that's where UFC really picks it up. Above 170, there's no question that UFC is the industry standard.
can sone explain to me why people is saying this? it seemed like a clear victory for dj, he was attacking for the most part and he ended it in just one and a half rounds. So to me it seemed like a pretty clear victory it just wasn't completely one sided.

Mighty mouse went from Best flyweight to bantaweight fighting bums in some japanese promotion cause hes afraid to fight in ufc after loss to henry.
Infinite DJ isn’t fighting bantamweights, the weight divisions work differently at ONEfc. And the flyweight division is more stacked at onefc.

Yeah, One fans already knew that, but this is good to see for the rest of the world and winning over UFC fans.
It's because ONE doesn't test for PED's like the UFC. These Japanese fighters will have been taking PED's for years whereas DJ and Eddie will have been clean and only just started to take them, they won't have gotten the benefits of them yet.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I hated seeing such amazing fights being classed as second rate to UFC. This and the Alvarez fight proves that One FC has top calibre fighters.
j b the UFC has been around since the early 90s and only started testing for PEDS in 2015 through USADA. One Championship was founded in 2011 and started testing for PEDS in 2018 and expanded in 2019 through WADA. Who do you think takes PEDS more seriously..?
