I also have an 06 TL purchased brand new. I am at about 320,000 miles and still runs good. It is a great car and expect (or hope) to have it for another 5 years. I have changed oil on time. I may have not been as good with regards to transmission fluid, but have been changing it once a year lately. I recently changed out the suspension systems and it runs smooth. I watched your videos regarding changing out the struts. I also changed out the timing belt and water pump. I am now changing out the sound system. Some of the speakers had some cracks. New speakers, subwoofer and amplifier made the car sound better. I will be changing out the receiver and I expect it to sound better, as well as having android auto, streaming bluetooth and back camera. It takes a little bit of work and cost to keep it running good, but its better than paying the cost for a new vehicle (especially now days), at least for a little while longer.

Forever 2008 Acura TL Type S Owner here. 83,000 miles. Picked up a 2006 Toyota Tacoma a few days ago. These two vehicles will last me a life time. The TL will be my weekend car, aka polish a tire and drive it 10 miles and park it.

Traded my 06 TL in on my current '16 F150. One of the best cars I've ever owned. Love my truck, but sometimes wish I could've kept the TL. That thirst for "premium fuel" was the only downside I can recall. Nice video! Thanks for sharing your insights and repair how-to's -- you've helped me several times navigate repairs on my daughter's '13 Impreza.

I'm trying to take better care of my TL. I've only recently got the DIY mechanic bug, but all these youtube videos have helped a lot. I'm at just over 170k miles. It feels like it doesn't run 100% smooth. So far I've done front brakes, oil change, 1 transmission change, and I just changed the spark plugs. I plan to do a lot more, but hopefully she stays with me.

I have this exact car with 128,500 miles on it and love the car. Well designed and manufactured. Have had a few issues like the Bluetooth causing a power draw and the drivers lock actuator stopped working. Also the purge solenoid died and the a/c fan motor seized. All fixed by me after watching your videos! Thanks much - you’ve saved me a bunch of money!

    Nice Video !
I have a black 2005 TL with the 6 speed m/t . These also came with Factory Brembo front brakes and Limited Slip Axles .
After owning this car for a while I sold my Z28 LT1 Camaro and my 5.0 Fox body Mustang .
This car does everything I need .
Its about as fast as my 2003 S2000 was but it rides nicer and not everybody is trying to race me all the time .
I dont drive it in the salt ravaged NE winters to help it last longer .
I dont do any hard launches but I do like to get into the triple digits when I have an open road to do it on .
As far as the Hands free device , instead of removing the fuse , You can just disconnect the overhead module . All you need is a screwdriver .

Love my ‘07 TL. Bought it when it was 3yo. The bluetooth battery drain problem is real. My windows also opened on their own when the keyfab battery was dying. Had to make about $700 in repairs at 100k miles and 13 years to pass emissions, otherwise repairs have been minimal. I park outside in the sun, and sadly that’s wrecked my clearcoat. If I could buy the same car again when this one stops running, I wouldn’t hesitate - maybe a slightly smaller, lighter version with a better turning radius for my city life lol.

07 Acura TL Type-S owner. LOVED the car. Got a vibration issue with the motor mounts I couldn't live with, so sold it, but hated to do so. One problem with the Type-S is the front brakes. They're aluminum calipers with STEEL screw holes. The bolts will seize due to the different metal interaction, so find yourself a good machinist and he can repair them so you don't have to buy new calipers. Great summary video.

My 08 TL is at 116k from when i bought it at 99k miles, besides the fact that I crashed it, it has been nothing short of an amazing car! really can’t see myself in another car for a while until it shits the bed. One thing I wish was better on it is dealing with the infamous gas guzzling for 91+ octane gas. Other than that, It will be my #1 for a long time

100 % agree with changing the trans fluid every year in the beginning of the summer, so the car will run in the hot summer on clean trans fluid. I am doing the exact same thing here in Canada for my 2008 MDX. You will hear a lot of people saying "you are wasting too much money". Noooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, the trans fluid from Acura Dealership costs me 100 bucks, and another 30 bucks for the mechanic to drain and fill !!!!!

I’ve had a few TLs and currently an RDX. I change 3 quarts and filter on these transmissions and no problems. Honda should be more insistent on a 30k flush and filter and they never would have gotten a black eye with them. The filter flow decreases as clutch material builds up. Then pressure goes down… then you spiral into heat / slippage / further clogging. Bulletproof otherwise!

Do yourself a favor and get the jetpack kit from the dealer. About 100 us dollars. It'll probably save that trans 03 was the worst year for the 5 speed automatic.if your trans has blue bolts then it's done internally.

  • @user-wf8ol5hv6k
    @user-wf8ol5hv6k 13 дней назад

Id say the 99 is the most reliable because it's the last year they offered the 4 speed auto which wasn't plagued by the issues the 5 speed autos have. Probably the best 5 speed automatics you can use is the baya trans found in the 2007 accords.

Man i'll tell you though, we had a 2000 or a 2001 tl and It made it to 280k miles, but I'm not kidding you it went through 3 transmissions, and after it went the third time we decided to part ways.

2013 TL FWD Advance owner here, I bought it new and now it has 89k miles. It's been a great car, interior and exterior still look perfect and the engine still runs like new. Not to mention not one squeak or rattle anywhere and it's so quiet. I just bought a low mile 2022 MDX Advance to replace it, but I'm already having second thoughts on selling my TL because I can't bear to part with it. Acura makes great cars.
