I had an 05 RL its mostly aluminum yea no rust mine had 227K. It was beat to heck when I got it but I fixed it up cheap and drove it for a couple years. I loved mine until I wrecked it but it was great only complaint was the oil leak that would spray on the exhaust if I hit the gas to hard, I think it was the crank seal or something down there. Trans and motor are perfect 05 and up. I had to change one of my struts but yeah I miss it.

I'm a Toyota/Lexus guy (I have an IS300), but I still really like Honda/Acura (my dad had a '94 Acura Legend back in the day). I consider them 1A and 1B for comfort and reliability, they both tend to have beautiful aesthetics and you really can't go wrong with either as long as you maintain them and do your due diligence for inspection and research on each specific model. No car is perfect, but Japanese cars just stand above the rest for the least amount of issues over time versus European and Domestic cars.

I still have the original struts on it however one is just starting to leak. So I purchased some off of a wreaked car with 90K they should be good for another 100K. I purchased a 2010 RL KB2 the same blue color with 60K but it was totaled @105K which lead me to my 3rd 2012 RL KB2 with 49K on it. It's a garage queen. Dude, replace the timing belt every 100,000 miles for all Honda products. Everyone knows this. How could you skip over that? Are you that reckless & irresponsible? Maybe you shouldn’t be driving. Almost all US cities offer mass transportation through either a bus system, subway system, trolleys, etc…. That seriously might be in your best interest. Or just spend a fortune and Uber everywhere. At least you could avoid paying car insurance? Just please stay off the roads if you’re going to continue to let the timing belt go unchecked until you have a complete engine failure in your future driving endeavors.

Those cars do have Hydraulic tappets attached to the rocker arms. No adjustment, but there is a procedure in the manual to bleed the tappets in oil (I have never needed to do that procedure). I’m glad this car is getting more publicity because people are missing out on one of the greatest Acuras ever. The first SHawd & little does anyone know, but not only was this the first model to get an aspec trim, but this is what the Legend became and it’s rightfully known as the Honda Legend.
Update: September 2020 it got totaled by a stupid driver trying to run a red-light. Had it since December 2019. I mourn the days when my recent cars break down and ever since then I haven't been able to find a vehicle as bulletproof as this car was. Started everyday, never leaked, never stopped running after endless hours, hell it was so reliable I would just do preventative maintenance just because I would be bored not working on it for awhile. Nonetheless, enjoy what you have while it's yours because you never know what driver is out there to take it away from you. Haven't been able to find one like it since (especially in this used car market now)

If you do the timing belt complete service (timing belt, water pump, alternator belt, cam and crank seal, power steering belt) and the valve adjustment every 100,000 miles or so ,at least 120k then they run forever. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a super cheap job on a v6 but the proof is in the pudding. Depending on where you live the belts tend to last longer but don’t push too much past 120k if you like the car. I’ve heard if the car sat for a long time to just replace them when you get the car so your really wanting one that was driven daily.

Hello Scotty I was always fond of the Acura before I knew a lot about cars I got into the car dealership business I got out of the car dealership business but before I closed down I purchased a 2006 Acura RL the same color as the one you're showing it had 101,000 miles on it one owner it was an Immaculate shape so I purchased it for my personal use. I'm also in New Jersey and every time I change the oil my mechanic gushes over how beautiful it is underneath no rust no issues. When I purchased it I had him replace the water pump and the timing belt. Thank you for your confirmation the only problem that I have had with the car in the 12 months that I owned it is that I periodically get a check TPMS Banner every so often and then it disappears any suggestions as to what I should do? Thanks in advance my son and I love your shows.

I put down a deposit for the upcoming Acura TLS Type S. Can't wait for it to come in!

Much luck and enjoyment brother. I just traded my infiniti for a 12’ TL I want to enjoy it, pay it off and around 2023 or 2024 get into the type S. It gives me time to pay this TL off and for any bugs that appear in the 2021 and 22 models to get fixed. When you get your type s, you should post a video.

I had a 2008 RL. Great SH-AWD and a good car to drive. Poor MPG though. If you can find one, get the 2012 with the 6 speed.

2012 is NOT the same car. Different engine. The 3.7 does not have the same reputation as the 3.5.
