@@MrMikey1273 There may be simple explanations that makes sense. 1)People have been checking with preppers (on blogs etc) on what to get. They talk about having toilet tissue a lot, so people stocked up. Also, I'm guessing 2)normally most people don't buy toilet paper often, or a lot all at once. So this time people went out to buy and they bought a bigger package than usual. 3) Toilet paper takes up a lot of storage space, so given that most people don't usually buy them often the stores really did not have a lot of them in storage to replenish the shelves when people started going out to buy.

This woman made me laugh so hard watching her as a child.My family never understood why I got so much enjoyment watching her show, but we only had one TV and they knew when she was on don't bother me or change that channel!! I enjoyed the entire cast even back then I picked up on the chemistry between them and how they would feed off each other to create an entertaining show. Great memories!!!!

I’d like to hear her take too. She still does ads for reruns of her show for MeTV and even some limited touring. I saw her onstage in the DC area (Strathmore theater in Bethesda, MD) last summer and she was great!

When I was very young, I remember hearing my mother laughing out loud while watching the Carol Burnett Show. I would sneak out of bed to peek around the corner to see what she was watching...I think I enjoyed watching her laugh more because I was too young to get the jokes! I just sent this to her. She is 90 years young and I can hear her laughing even though she lives hundreds of miles away.
I know she will never read this, but I love her so much and pray she stays safe and healthy❤️

I have said for years that rude and disgusting aren't comedy, but the tactful and artful delivery of cleverly put together ideas we can all relate to on the slant of ridiculousness is the key. The best humor is the kind that leaves the entire family rolling in laughter where grandma and the children are all there without any shock value. Tim Hawkins has this mastered also.

This was a show not an advertisement. But they did have some cute Charmin commercials at the time. Mr. Whipple saying ; " Please don't squeeze the Charmin."
This is still my favorite comedy show of all time. And when Tim Conway came on as part of the team, it was the best. Also, you get to see authentic stuff from the 70s. We had one of those half round gizmos the pots were hanging on. Also, we had a picture like the one of the old wine bottle. So many things I forgot about.
As somebody old enough to remember that ad campaign....that was hilarious.
I was buying toilet paper made from bamboo (because it’s far more sustainable) my husband and kids revolted....I’m glad to say I got the message BEFORE anyone left and wrote goodbye notes on that stuff...to be honest, it was probably better to write on, than to wipe with!

I remember the show when it was new. I love the commercial parodies. One I wish I could find is for "Ons-A Way" vitamins. Carol is sitting at this huge round table full of food and says "To get all the nutrition I need. I would have to eat all this food, and that's just not good. With just one "One-A Way" vitamin, I get all the nutrition I need. Then someone rolls out this huge vitamin tablet as big as the table.

Carol and her crew had great writers who really embellished her comedic skills, and they all could make such funny skits out of the most mundane things (like toilet paper!) -- I wish we had that kind of comedy today, (we don't -- most of it is sardonic) but we can come to this great old show and get our laugh for the day, so thank you for posting!
