I just got one, and had to ride it back from the dealer a couple hundred miles away due to current scarcity in the USA. It happened to snow unexpectedly during the ride. This bike handles excellent in low traction situations due to its centralized engine being sprung mass, and big wheels. I doubt any CVT, engine-on-swingarm scooter could have handled so forgiving. Honda should give the customers the option of having a conventional gearbox and clutch. It is the same engine as the Grom so it should be possible. Would also be great if it was available with a longer and taller frame (yes, I am 6'4'' and yes I wish I was shorter...).
One down side you forgot to mention is that on New Year’s Eve, a manager from Japan post will knock on your door and demand you deliver one million renga jo before the morning!
I'm surprised he says it would be better with a cvt transmission, in fact the only reason I would consider buying this is because of the manual gearbox which provides better fuel economy (you can ride at low rpm in a high gear), potentially less maintenance, better control in difficul road conditions or long uphill sections etc. All the utilitarian features that are associated with it depend on it being manual.
Definitely, plus it would effectively make the most sold motorcycle in history into a scooter. I own the cub and the gearbox is brilliant, no clutch lever. Step down gears and with an enclosed chain, it'll last longer than most belts. I have 15000 miles on mine and it's still the original chain and sprocket

You're correct about the environmental impact making the batteries, but this is the same for all electronic devices that need batteries. Some good news is that the LifeP04 battery used in the Tesla Model 3 and Y standard range uses no cobalt , a step in the right direction + this battery has considerably longer life but there's always a catch, the LifePo4 battery is less energy dense so can't provide as much range as the longer range batteries that use cobalt but for electric cars that offer smaller batteries LiFeP04 is a very attractive option. I compared this one to the old one as I own both and did a video. It is 'super' enough to feel different enough to the original but still has broadly the same genetics. I don't think it is built to be as robust as the original.
Best bike I ever brought for comuteing gets me to work and back and so cheap to run I have a top case on mine and I suppose you could put pannier bags on and they are classified as automatic so fine if you have an automatic licence
Hey I know you're comment was 2 years ago but can I ask, are you certain that you can ride these on a full auto licence? It's almost impossible to find an answer anywhere. I passed my test years ago on a twist and go. I know I can ride any auto scooter, or bike with dct, but if I want to ride gears I need to use L plates. But as the cub doesn't have a clutch lever I suppose it falls under an automatic?
I own one '83 6v 50cc(japanese version) and one '85 12v 72 cc(European version) super cubs. Very reliable and rugged machines despite their age with very cheap spare parts. They were meant to be affordable to common folk, something the new c125, unfortunately, is not ( costs 4.000+ €).
I want to buy one of these they're not available to buy any showroom in Australia. Apparently, the last tiny batch they made for Australia sold out months in advance.
i have had loads of cubs over the years but not the new shape. i love the style of the new one. i also like the fact it has brakes that work with abs. a cvt transmission was fitted to a few variants over the years but only on the 50 model and they were not very good. a manual box would be much better and also allow riders to take their bike test on it. i have also rode them on journeys up to 210 miles with no problem. they are really bomb proof. it will be a very sad day when we have to say bye to the petrol engine. i just hope they make a machine that says goodbye in style. i cont ride bikes now due to my health but would i have a new one. too bloody right i would. I LOVE THEM.
Why on earth would you state that lack of storage and no rear back box as a negative? Most bikes don't have storage and with most bikes you add a back box! Also, wishing it was DCT so it would be twist and go??! It IS twist and go! So sorry you have to change gear occasionally. DCT system would have added unnecessary weight and complications! This is meant to be a simple bike for the masses! Just go review an NC750... You'll be happy then.
I've been riding a Yamaha Vstar 1100 Silverado for 15 years and was happy with it. But I am old now and really only need it for light highway and in town driving. The mileage makes it inexpensive on fuel, my vstar get 40 MPG and this is supposed to get 188 MPG. So this scouter is appealing to me though I am 6-2 and think it wont be a good fitting ride. Haven't test driven on yet but my Vstar is for sale which will make it not too much. A top box is necessary to carry food and things which I would have to fabricate one. This scout is on my radar but so is the NMAX.
@@damham5689 these are step-thru. I think it's silly to sell bikes that can't get on the highway. They are good for running around town or between towns, but the design seems intentionally limited. I don't know why that do that. Seems dumb to me, from an engineering view.
Couldn't agree with you more about just updating to fully automatic. I would buy one today if they made that change - as is I'm a little hesitant because I'm hearing some horror stories and I haven't been riding long.
The semi auto box is very reliable, a CVT belt and rollers need replacing roughly every 15,000 miles. Dual clutch is better and gives buttons to change up and down. I guess Honda wanted to stay as original as possible, nothing wrong with that.
We Americans are too fat. On the facts is why. Watch the movie Breaking Away. 'Obesity' of the era was the main character's dad. He would be the neighborhood fatty. Today? "Wow, dad bod in ok shape!" The movie scenes showing crowds didn't require hand selection of normal sized humans. That was our normal fitness back then. Internet and video games. It wasn't the fast food. It is the sitting doing nothing. Social media addiction and video games blobs.
Yeah, it costs an extra $300+. I think the main reason is that we are heavier on average, and the little 125cc is already struggling with me on it. Looks better with the second seat, though.
also naked without the add on milk crate, like the KLR 650, but a lot easier to pick up if you drop it. scooter's wheels disappear into potholes. cub is safer on rough urban roads.
I wanted to use the kick starter in a modified look of the C125, but Honda released the C125 after removing the kick starter That is very disappointing. I am an old and classical enthusiast Does anyone know how to install the old CUB engine on the C125?
Very informative, and nicely shot with lots of different POV. This is more of a homage to the famous original cub than a clean sheet design as you say. A bit of a styling exercise, but what's wrong with that. I've got the red and cream version here in Australia and it's heaps of fun to ride. It's a little underpowered, so you can't take your ego with you. Leave it at home, you'll have more fun 👍🇦🇺
I agree. CVT, Twist & Go, Storage, and I wish it were 250cc instead of 125cc. Just a bit more pick up and go and easier for those short highway jaunts.
CVT transmissions are not as fuel efficient as gears and chain final drive. Where would you put storage without shoving half the engine onto the swinging arm like a scooter and spoiling the handling? If you want a scooter go and buy one and leave the cub alone!
I think the reviewer is missing the point if he wants cvt and under seat storage. Maybe he’s reviewing the wrong bike… Honda already do such a bike: the SH125.

This bike is replica of Bajaj M80 .Bajaj should launch such a bike for Indian bike owners as the above bike is not available in India. OR Honda company should come forward to launch this bike in India.
Can’t believe Honda only gave this thing a 3.7 litre tank - just that fact alone will seriously dent their sales , let alone the lack of storage and the crash box - it deserved to be updated imho
You can carry a tiny can of gas with you. It can go 150 miles + in correct normal riding respecting the machine, not abusing it. The can will get you 150 miles back home. However: There's no such thing electric or gas of a light machine that can't go 100mph that's any fun on long voyages. If you needed a bigger gas tank to piddle about town, you weren't ready to ride a scooter to begin with.
I rather love no wifi USB gadgets at all. In anything mobile. I'm looking for transportation, not what anyone is whining about on social media weenie land.

I compared this one to the old one as I own both and did a video. It is 'super' enough to feel different enough to the original but still has broadly the same genetics.
I don't think it is built to be as robust as the original.
Best bike I ever brought for comuteing gets me to work and back and so cheap to run
I have a top case on mine and I suppose you could put pannier bags on and they are classified as automatic so fine if you have an automatic licence
04:05 It's true, I'm able to ride my Honda Supra X one-handed and I do it a lot
Nice review. I can definitely see the attraction to the Cub but I would really like to see Honda bring back the CB125 to the States.
Or better yet.. the 250 Dream
Or 305
I want to buy one of these they're not available to buy any showroom in Australia. Apparently, the last tiny batch they made for Australia sold out months in advance.
This was designed for noodle delivery riders in japan they would ride with one hand and a basket of noodles in the other hand thats why no clutch
Hello brother I am from north east India I like it so much how can I get it.this honda super cub n what's the price?
I like hondasupercub what's the price?the best bike I have ever seen
Hi Paul … love the bike! My husband just bought his this week! Where’d you find this awesome jacket you are wearing in the video?!
It's a Tucano Urbano jacket, albeit from quite a few years ago. Thanks for watching!
i have had loads of cubs over the years but not the new shape. i love the style of the new one. i also like the fact it has brakes that work with abs. a cvt transmission was fitted to a few variants over the years but only on the 50 model and they were not very good. a manual box would be much better and also allow riders to take their bike test on it. i have also rode them on journeys up to 210 miles with no problem. they are really bomb proof. it will be a very sad day when we have to say bye to the petrol engine. i just hope they make a machine that says goodbye in style. i cont ride bikes now due to my health but would i have a new one. too bloody right i would.
Cute and not too bad Speed wise compared to my classic but needs a bigger tank.
Great video and long live the cub
They need to stretch the wheelbase make it a 250cc to handle highway speeds, and make the seat one long pad to accommodate riders of different sizes.
or ignore you and do what they wish
@@ajjy1110 just suggestions for broadening the potential user base 🙂👍
So you want a CB 250 ?
Sadly no passenger seat/pegs in U.S.A. version. Wonder why...
Just to bad in America we don't get that second seat or pegs at all for the same price everyone other country pays for it
Yeah, it costs an extra $300+.
What jacket is that! Its fantastic
Sir, Could I buy and ride it after passing CBT as a international students for delivery job? Waiting for your valuable answer thank you .
£160 to insure which is nuts comapred to a St1300 =£97 , I guess they get stolen a lot. I wish honda had imported the CT125
In the UK do you need GPS to commute to work? I understand that we yanks suck at geography, but isn’t the UK still an island?
The Human Race is devolving !
It was until they built the Channel Tunnel 😭😅
188 to the gallon, 38p a week road tax. love it
38p a week road tax? That's a steal In Europe the 125cc pay 18p/year road taxes
I wanted to use the kick starter in a modified look of the C125, but Honda released the C125 after removing the kick starter That is very disappointing. I am an old and classical enthusiast Does anyone know how to install the old CUB engine on the C125?
Honda should have lounched in India also.
Agreed 100%
Where’s Carole?
申し訳ない言葉がわからないので、何言ってるか分かりませんが動画見てて楽しかったです。因みに自分はC125の色は昔のC100と同じ水色と紺です。どうぞ事故には気を付けて下さい。ありがとうございます。
Am Kato Richards from mbarara western Uganda am interested in this cub how much and how can j get it let me know oke thanks
Nice jacket. What kind is it?
DAS CLEAN LOOKING BIKE
Beautiful bike… you’ll have to know which petrol stations don’t have a 5 litre minimum fill though 😂
My Dream bike
Low and stable idle. How? Heavy crankshaft??
I agree. CVT, Twist & Go, Storage, and I wish it were 250cc instead of 125cc. Just a bit more pick up and go and easier for those short highway jaunts.
Was enjoying the review until I saw the filtering through traffic which I don’t agree with
Thank you.
Where can buy this back seat and the back seat footrest. I didn't find them on the Honda website.
im 6'4(193cm) will this be awkward to drive for me?
Thanks, just the review I needed. & love to Peterborough
Is there any modes to drop the keyless?
How price
CVT transmissions are not as fuel efficient as gears and chain final drive. Where would you put storage without shoving half the engine onto the swinging arm like a scooter and spoiling the handling? If you want a scooter go and buy one and leave the cub alone!
250cc istiyoruz aynı modelini
lol I'm planning to buy this after Watching an anime made by Honda featuring their Super Cub.
Great so much thanks
I like hoda
I think the reviewer is missing the point if he wants cvt and under seat storage. Maybe he’s reviewing the wrong bike… Honda already do such a bike: the SH125.
It needs a basket on the front for cargo.
Noooooo way would I want a CVT tranny.
The Cubs transmission is perfection.
Just like my Honda ATV .
Four wheeler.
Same transmission.. bulletproof
No storage means a slimmer bike.
carole nash how come you know about motorcycles yet the call centre which is on the other side of the word know the sum total of zero when sorting out insurance
Very nice
no USB?? that sucks
Honda claims 188 mpg. Reviewer says more like 100mpg. Thats a huge difference.
Hi friends I have 6 honda c 70 zero red and blue made in Japan 1982 where I can get a spare parts Organelle and how much price can I buy it Zeroooo I am from Egypt
CVT SUPER CUB C150…🤔👏🏽
ব্রাদার আমার একটা কেনার ইচ্ছে এবং শক আছে কিন্তুু কিভাবে সম্ভবহবে
Vell done !! 🍺 😎 👍
The gear change should be used with toes only ....not your heel
Number One Selling Scooter in the WORLD... But you can't buy them anywhere in the Northeast US. no dealer carries more than one. There are waiting lists years long. I thought we were supposed to be environmentally-minded country... ANYONE WHO HAS A LARGE INVENTORY THEY WANT TO SELL, should contact DEALERS in New England and Especially VERMONT. anyone looking to sell a new one in Vermont can contact me. Thanks.
Fatness and laziness of USA masses means Honda USA does need to target cities and states of less fatness and more disposable income. You'd think NYC and Boston would be direct delivery of containers full. But automakers and electric bicycle movement trying to ban this perfect basic transportation Honda Cub. The Tesla criminals know their junk is overpriced landfill threatened by a $3k 150 mpg reliable scooter. Boycott Tesla buy Honda Cub!!!
Fantastic bike but this seat sucks - if u are tall you cannot take bigger distance from the bar.
Bring for sale in India & Tamil Nadu
Love the bike.... I HATE the lane splitting. So damn dangerous. If you are in a accident while lane splitting, I dont think insurance company's should cover you. I hate it when motorcycles pass my vehicle INCHES away. What am I going to do if they go pass me, scrape my vehicle and keep going? Am I going to chase them?
I like thi bike honda super cub 125 india
Завидую.

No one thought it was a scooter.
Hi!

GDR / IFA "Schwalbe"
This bike is replica of Bajaj M80 .Bajaj should launch such a bike for Indian bike owners as the above bike is not available in India. OR
Honda company should come forward to launch this bike in India.
Make a 150
Can’t believe Honda only gave this thing a 3.7 litre tank - just that fact alone will seriously dent their sales , let alone the lack of storage and the crash box - it deserved to be updated imho
@@Greg-io1ip so wanting to own a scooter means you have to enjoy stopping for gas yes ?
Its a bike not a scooter
@@ToTheRegiment david thats true , but thats nothing whatsoever to do with the amount of fuel it holds
I rather love no wifi USB gadgets at all. In anything mobile. I'm looking for transportation, not what anyone is whining about on social media weenie land.
