Its truly hearbreaking to think that these people are waiting for their loved ones and instead of seeing them, they heard a devastating news. I was in Singapore airport when one of air asia flight from Surabaya was reportedly missing. And then they also told the people to go to the information desk. I remember that my heart also sank eventhough I wasnt waiting for that flight, because we all know that it means bad news.
Six years later on this same day June 1st I was waiting for my stepdad to arrive from Britain, and instead got a phone call from the police. He was dead, minced by a train. It's something I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Just watching the video gives me that "sick feeling"...I remember getting it early in the morning back in high school on the morning of 9/11 when they announced "All teachers please hold your students" over the school intercom....You know that "somethings wrong" feeling.... My condolences to those poor people and their lost loved ones....
On what planet can you fly a jet plane at 35,000 feet with the nose 12 degrees up in the air? Possibly only Venus because the atmosphere is a lot thicker there.
yeah man...this must be a horrible experience...imagine, you talk with your loved one just a couple hours before the take off, and go to the airport to pick him/her up , and it is written there "delayed -retarded"...and they announce the ppl to tell them that AF447 has "dissappeared"..in the HUGE Atlantic...They dont say "they´re dead" but they use the word "disappeared" - which in that case can only mean "death"..even if you survive in the "mid Atlantic" this is also "death"...
just got back from a trip. At the time i arrived in my hotel, i heard the news. It gives me the creeps to realize that, what if i am on that flight? this is one of the most horrible news I've heard since it was my first time to ride a plane.. My prayers for those who have lost their love ones.
This flight AF 447 was after this disaster transformed into flight AF 445 what i´ve used to fly 3 weeks ago and...hm, i admit, it was strange feeling when i´ve been thinking about. R.I.P. ...228 unfotunate souls. But i am sure the´ve already found their peace. It is now harder for their families.
one thing I don't get...Air France knew already at night, that something went terribly wrong with AF 447. They received the ACARS failure messages, and the plane did not make any contact with African ATC. Why did they let the families and relatives come to CDG the next morning? why didn't they realize earlier, that there was no hope anymore for AF 447? If a plane sends failure messages from a thunder storm over the Atlantic and doesn't make any contact with ATC, what did they think what happend?
horrible, but i am affraid we will never know what´s really happen to the flight 447. We can only pray for the peace of the souls of the victims...and pray for the families, which have lost their beloved.
Air France officials stated in a report (which was later mentioned on National Public Radio) that the aircraft went down after a pitot tube failure. This would have caused the pilots' instruments to malfunction - particularly their attitude indicator, which some call the "artificial horizon". May the victims of this terrible accident rest in peace.
R.I.P. to the passengers and the Crew. Still...this is going to be one of the most Interesting Aviation Incident. Sensationality aside, such a Plane as A330 does not fall out of Sky by a Straight flight, it withstands the Atlantic turbulences. on that night were 12 alike aircrafts were flying, none reported such great air activities which would bring a A330 down. I am looking forward that they find the black boxes.

@Pvjinflight - when you get a chance Google "Single Event Upset" or SEU. Then you will see why the computers went mad on flight 447 the same time the solar flare occurred.
