Godzilla doesn't eat people. Certain Godzillas target humans specifically. But that isn't until GMK 2001 from the millennium series after the hesei series. Millennium series is less connected except for 2. But they all tie back to the original. Great video y'all I got a little emotional watching y'all watch this. This was my first Godzilla movie as a kid. Seeing Godzilla become mainstream when it was such a niche thing when I was young is amazing. Please keep on with the hesei into the millennium series

I remember watching a different English dub of this when I was a kid, with American scenes and Raymond Burr. it’s weird cause this one must be more modern, but the voice acting seems souless compared to the other version
This is not Godzilla 1985! It's 84's The Return of Godzilla. 1985 has American filmed scenes with the same American actor Raymond Burr who appeared in the Americanized Gojira called Godzilla King Of The Monsters in 1956.
I definitely suggest watching the Godzilla X Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS (Kiryu Saga Duology) from 2002-2003. It’s a standalone sequel to the original Gojira and Mothra (1961). A very underated character-driven series of films for both the humans and Monsters. 💙💙
The version called Godzilla 1985 with Raymond Burr changed the way the Russian nuke was launched. In the original Japanese release and this dub, the Russian boat captain died trying to stop the launch and it was an embarrassing mistake for the USSR. In Godzilla 1985, the Russians deliberately launched the nuke and the captain's last act on Earth was pressing the button to destroy Tokyo. The people who did that version really wanted to make Russia look evil rather than incompetent. If there's one thing the 1985 version does better, it's turn the guy who made himself a fancy meal to 'celebrate' Godzilla into one of the great comedic characters by just writing random dialogue for him to say.
Godzilla 1985 is a very underrated classic it's a great movie definitely a worth watching , have u guys reviewed Godzilla final wars or Godzilla vs destroyah
Order doesn't matter too much for the most part, most godzilla movies are fairly self-contained, but release order is usually fine just in case. For Showa the must watch movies are Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, Godzilla Raids Again, Destroy All Monsters, Terror Of Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla vs. Monster X are a good set. For Heisei, I mostly concur that it's probably best to watch all of them in release order. Heisei has more of a connected story than showa, to an extent (it builds into a finale, but each movie is fairly self contained.) The millennium era has fewer movies over all so I'd say it's fair to just do all of them that you can. Then you get into the Reiwa Era, which has even fewer movies, to the extent most people just refer to the movies individually, those being Shin Godzilla, the animated netflix trilogy, a few Short Films shown of various G-Day events, and most recently, Minus One. That last one was a huge release and was the first godzilla movie to get an oscar, so if you haven't seen it I definitely recommend it. Of course, parallel to the reiwa era releases the US started the Monsterverse with its own godzilla, which are fairly good as well.
Sorry to say, but this is NOT Godzilla 1985. This is the English dub of The Return of Godzilla from 1984. The 85 version has Raymond Burr in it alongside other american actors that were spliced into the movie. Unfortunately, the 85 verson is hard to find on physical media as that version has never had a "proper" dvd relese for modern audiences due to legal issues. However, I would encourage you to keep looking and see that version for yourself as well. It's a great companion piece to the original 84 version. Still, this version is amazing and powerful in its own right. So I'm glad you at least witnessed one half of this movie's stunning legacy.
The scene where Godzilla shoots down a chopper and then causes a whole highway full of traffic to explode in a chain reaction was so freakin crazy! He's a mass murderer!
The American version of most Godzilla movies is the funniest, largely due to the dubbing but also the most ridiculous due to editing when it's bad. This one's one of the better dark and serious ones.
You're watching the WRONG movie ! This is NOT GODZILLA 1985. This is THE RETURN OF GODZILLA with the International Dub by British actors constantly pronouncing it as "Godziller."
34:55 what's so hard to understand they're distracting him till the super x arrives. It's not hard to understand. 45:29 no the reason why he's attacking is because a volcano woke him up. 46:36 your gonna have to understand that godzilla doesn't eat people, never has never will. What gave you the impression that he eats people? 49:10 tell that to the innocent people he trampled and burned during his rampage. Did you missed the part where he grabbed a train roared at the people inside and throw it back to the ground? 50:31 this movie is a sequel to the original 1954 movie. Ignoring all previous movies after that one. The godzilla that attacked in 1954 is still dead. This is a new godzilla. 51:50 this is not the first movie where he's in color watch 1962 king kong vs Godzilla. The 3rd movie in the franchise and second movie for the showa era Godzilla. The second Godzilla of that series and the main Godzilla for that franchise and the one who fought the most enemies
One of the rules Toho has about Godzilla... you will NEVER see Godzilla eat a human being unless you're watching a fan film. Godzilla does not eat people. Ever. Also... I've been a HUGE Godzilla fan since I was 3 (back in 1975!) I've seen all the movie numerous times.. If you want to keep doing reactions to Godzilla movies.. If you haven't watched Godzilla Minus One yet... you NEED to watch it!!! Also... watch through the Heisei era movies.. then check out Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah - Giant Monster All-Out Attack.. Also.. the Gamera trilogy from the 1990's (Gamera, Guardian of the Universe.. Gamera 2 - Attack of Legion and Gamera 3 - Revenge of Iris) are GREAT kaiju movies and many people say are superior to the Heisei era Godzilla movies.. And the actress who plays the girl who has a psychic connection to Gamera was Steven Segal's daughter. I would LOVE to see someone reacting to those movies since nobody else has!
The Heisei Era of Godzilla films is a continuity unlike the Millennium films So if you're doing more reactions, you want to follow the continuity after this Godzilla 1985 (This movie) Godzilla vs Biollante is next Then after Vs. Biollante, the films go in this order Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991) Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth (1992) Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II (1993) Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla (1994) Godzilla vs Destoroyah (1995)
These are the most interesting Showa Era movies: Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster Ebirah Horror of the Deep Son of Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Godzilla Vs Hedorah Godzilla Vs Gigan
I know this is my third comment LOL But to answer your question, watch the next ones in English as they are only dubbed. There are no changes done to the movies. Start with Godzilla versus Biollante that will answer many questions
This is a very political movie, I don't see many movies where the prime minister is a main character in the story. It's good to see as in real life world leaders are usually going to be the most important figures in a crisis.
As I am watching this, I can see that it is a different version than I saw (Dubbing voices are different, they are saying different things, and there are added scenes) I wonder if there was a Canadian edit? I'm serious. For instance, the professor said he was looking at the genetics of a vinegar fly, in the version I saw, he just says "Genetic Mutations" and the other guy repeats it in a way that shows he is pretending to understand, but has no idea. Also, when the girl finds out her brother is rescued, there are a lot of added scenes/dialogue that I never saw. Does anyone else know what I mean?

watch the Heisei Era Godzilla series 1985 - 1995 Millennium Series 2000- 2005 was made after the 1998 American movie was made. Toho Hated it so they made the series to kill off the knock off

I hate to say it but you did not watch "Godzilla 1985." What you watched the european English translation of "The Return of Godzilla". Which isn't bad infect it's closer to the Japanese"Return of Godzilla" "Godzilla 1985" was a complete Re-edit by Rodger Corman, with added American scenes staring Raymond Burr. Unfortunately because of license issues "Godzilla 1985" has not seen a proper Blue Ray release. You can find it through bootleg somewhere. It is worth a watch because it's almost a different tone and paced movie. As a kid I use to rent it at my local video store on VHF tape. Some people will say its inferior to the Japanese version but I feel the pace is better in the American. But the original does have some scenes that had cool visuals cut out of the '85 version. Similar to the Original Godzilla of 1955 Godzilla king of the Monsters with Raymond burr. The Japanese is more darker in tone but the American version was the film that made it popular in America. Which made more money and popularity. Hope you do watch the True Godzilla 1985 it will feel like a different film and is a good to compare.

Nature has a way, sometimes, of reminding Man of just how small he is. She occasionally throws up the terrible offsprings of our pride and carelessness... to remind us of how puny we really are in the face of a tornado, an earthquake, or a Godzilla. The reckless ambitions of Man are often dwarfed by their dangerous consequences. For now, Godzilla - that strangely innocent and tragic monster - has gone to earth. Whether he returns or not, or is never again seen by human eyes, the things he has taught us... remain.
There's also a 1985 version starring Raymond Burr.
They said this is Godzilla 1985, but it actually isn't. It is an English dub of "The Return of Godzilla" (the 1984 Japanese version)
The eras of Godzilla are:
Showa 1954-1975
Heisei 1984-1995
Millenium 1999-2004
Monsterverse 2014-Present (American)
Reiwa 2016-Present (Japanese)
Also the heisi series have some great soundtracks btw
I definitely suggest watching the Godzilla X Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS (Kiryu Saga Duology) from 2002-2003. It’s a standalone sequel to the original Gojira and Mothra (1961). A very underated character-driven series of films for both the humans and Monsters. 💙💙
The cadnium was working for a while there!
Btw, Godzilla survived falling into the Volcano cause he just walks back out of it in the next movie Godzilla vs Biollante
In my opinion this movie, the original and Godzilla Vs Biollante make a perfect trilogy!
Also a sorta rule in Godzilla and that’s he can’t be shown harming children or eating people
You're watching the WRONG movie !
I wish I could watch all the Heisei era movies and be done with the Monsterverse.
This is actually the dubbing of the original Japanese version. Not the 85 American cut.
Yes there is a family of Godzillas
This version doesn't have Raymond Burr in it! The one I have has him in it.
The Heisei Era of Godzilla films is a continuity unlike the Millennium films
So if you're doing more reactions, you want to follow the continuity after this
Godzilla 1985 (This movie)
Godzilla vs Biollante is next
Then after Vs. Biollante, the films go in this order
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991)
Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth (1992)
Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II (1993)
Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla (1994)
Godzilla vs Destoroyah (1995)
Still the best Godzilla movie
These are the most interesting Showa Era movies:
Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster
Ebirah Horror of the Deep
Son of Godzilla
Destroy All Monsters
Godzilla Vs Hedorah
Godzilla Vs Gigan
The Soviets almost took more lives here than Godzilla did.
Unfortunately you got a redubbed version, not the original 1985 audio... MUCH better voice over in that one!
Pretty good start to the heisi era the next film is Godzilla vs Biollante
you should watch the first one of course
Godzilla has parasites, just as lethal as the big guy
Some Showa Era recommendations:
Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
Ghidorah: the Three Headed Monster
Invasion of Astro-Monster
Terror of Mechagodzilla
I'm a big fan of the Showa Era I think it's a little underrated.
You gotta have Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla before terror of Mechagodzilla
There's some improvements with 1985, sub and sea louse are much better. Steve Martin's narration I'd also great. 85 needs to be persevered too.
I know this is my third comment LOL But to answer your question, watch the next ones in English as they are only dubbed. There are no changes done to the movies.
Start with Godzilla versus Biollante that will answer many questions
50:28-Only in the 1st movie does Godzilla actually definitively die
You're blatantly spoiling 3 movies for them man.
@@ExtremeWaffleEater You're right. I'm sorry. They asked a question, and I was too intent on answering it to think of spoiling things. I'm sorry
We all make mistakes, you should delete your comment
@@ExtremeWaffleEater I edited it.
This is a very political movie, I don't see many movies where the prime minister is a main character in the story. It's good to see as in real life world leaders are usually going to be the most important figures in a crisis.
Recommendation: Toy Story and Inception.
Ok, as I am watching this, I understand what is happening: this is NOT Godzilla 1985, it is an English dub of the Japanese version of the movie. In Godzilla 1985, many of these scenes were cut out, and other scenes were added with Raymond Burr, and some American soldiers in a bunker including a young redhead soldier that made snarky, sarcastic comments.
Godzilla’s not dead, as discussed he can live forever, but he can also be killed .
Though you've got to admit, many of us as kids thought Godzilla died when he fell in the volcano
@ I watched Godzilla and Mothra: Battle for Earth before I watched this when I was a kid, so after Godzilla swam all the way up to Mount Fuji, I figured he could survive anything.
I see. Yeah that would make come to the same conclusion to be honest .
That’s not the same English dub that I’ve seen of G1985 on my original VHS
The next movie I recommend is Godzilla minus one then the monsterverse Godzilla movie ❤
PLEASE REACT TO THE REST OF THE HEISEI GODZILLA FILMS
watch the Heisei Era Godzilla series 1985 - 1995
Millennium Series 2000- 2005 was made after the 1998 American movie was made. Toho Hated it so they made the series to kill off the knock off
Y’all should watch Godzilla 98
Didnt die there a sequel to this godzilla lives godzilla Vs. Biolante.
They already have seen the 1954 original.
Godzilla: The Showa Era | Best Movies
Godzilla (1954)
Godzilla Raids Again (1955)
King Kong vs. Godzilla (1963) | Original Battle
Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster (1964)
Invasion of the Astro-Monsters (1965)
Destroy All Monsters (1968)
Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973)
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)
Also these greats as well:
Rodan (1956)
Mothra (1961)
Both are definitely must see!
I think the next movies in the Heisei era get better than this movie. When Godzilla starts actually fighting rival monsters.
They hyped up the Super X in every scene where it showed up. Thing's music was always blaring.
I vote for watching the next movies in Japanese
