To be fair, Mitch was steamrolling his way through most of the comp so I can understand him having the confidence to lift that last stone. I think we were all surprised when he couldn’t do it, but it was still a great end to the competition. What a show!
I think people enjoy the humble camaraderie that strongman is known for and Mitch is a bit more vocal regarding his own abilities than some are comfortable with. Combine that with him surpassing seasoned (and loved) competitors to dominate the field in a mere couple of years has probably lead to some seeing him as disrupting the natural rhythm of the sport. In reality most fans likely understand that he’s helping elevate and evolve the sport and will likely inspire other competitors to greater heights.
Because to a lot of viewers think strongman is meant to be about big, fat, 200kg+ guys picking heavy things and Hoop has come in and turned that on it's head showing that a lot of what the strongman vets did/do is just plain wrong. He's brought a more scientific, newage approach to the sport and people don't like being proven wrong.
Hes not even cocky, he just makes firm predictions based on his ability. Like a cocky man would chase hafthor and Bobby on the deadlift, but he knew they were stronger and chased third. Confidence and realism
As I predicted. Mitch hooper is just in a league of his own right now. Being back to back in the heaviest strongman comp with a much more competitive opposition has just proven his wins were not a fluke
I think it is 410 lbs. Note, besides not being perfectly spherical (which actually may be helpful), I think they had to lift it without tacky. So that is what really makes it tough.
@@drslyone 100 percent my God that looks heavy but all about the technique like you said I just feel bad for mu boi Martins seeing my hero fall like that I'm still with him
Hooper did great, just got a little cocky at the end, with that much buzz and knowing after the first lift the win was his, it just went to his head for a moment, hopefully that moment doesn't blight his win, 10 seconds of 🤦 does not undo months of prep and a weekend of good performance.
Impressive work from Hooper again. Wonder why the competition is not closer when the guys are on top of the game but still one guy can dominate event after event. Hooper is explosive, strong and has a lot of stamina. I would hope that in the future arnold strongman classic goes back to being heaviest competition. More static lifts, squats and bring wheel of Conan back. Now it is just awkwardly heavy and boring to watch when 70% of athletes can't even finish one rep or one lift. And I would criticize rules that in overhead press you can incline bench press and not actually have the stone over your head. Others tried to press it overhead (like the event says it is) and Hooper just bench presses it and doesn't lock the lift over his head. Is bench press overhead press if shoulders lock? No. Same thing as in last Rogue invitational with the log. Tom pressed it clean overhead when Hooper just locks it over his chest. So really hope they change rules. Now it just feels they can decide who wins by choosing events suitable for one dude and modify rules to suit that guy aswell. Someone said that Hooper doesn't lock the overhead press over his head because of shoulders. So guy has a weakness he can't fix = fix the rules so he can win.
Some fans of this sport can be really petty. All the strongmen I've seen apart from the whole Eddie, thor thing get on and cheer eachother on, so why do people get nasty on their behalf?
Typical bendy boy, leans back and chest presses a stone that is supposed to be over his head not his chest. No wonder he couldn't break the last stone off of the ground, no power
1 The natural stone pick is a grip issue. 2 You aren't supposed to put the stone directly overhead with a full lockout as you can drop it on your head 3 Everyone with a braincell leans back on strict presses to engage some chest
@@Joe-wt6eh 1. Weak as piss 2. It's called an over head press not a incline chest press. 3. Everyone leans back mildly, then stands up straight. Not Rubber boy. If he wins the next Shaw classic he will get my respect, but not yet 👌
Congrats to Hooper, well deserved. As long as he is around he gets most of the W for sure.

Next time hopefully still injury free will be prepared to do it.
Tbh if he wasn't like 110% sure he can lift it confidently, it's undersrandable he wouldnt want to risk an injury if he already won

Congrats Mitchell, and thanks for not insisting ur 30 man entourage get priority seating.
Wah wah wah. Salty can't
@nolan564 salty about what? He won and doesn't require 50 hangers on to do it.

Hooper continues to be amazing.just shows how good mateusz shoulders are though.
Exactly...he couldn`t even move the stone.
Lift Heavy. Be Kind. He doesn't just say it, he lives it. That message to his daughter, tear to my eye. Keep being the inspiration you are, Moose!
Mateusz 2 nd again. Tom breaks the curse. Mitch wins once again.
LETs GOOOOOO
Mooooooooooooooooooooose!
I don’t get it, why people dislike that Hooper is cooky sometimes. He has a full right to do it. He is just better than everyone else 😂

they mistake confidence and cockiness. 99% of the time, those are unaccomplished losers.

What a disgrace
At least they laughed it off😅
He tried to make a moment. A little showmanship is always good. Even if it doesn't always work out it's more fun than not trying at all.
You mean they didn't just give overrated Thor the trophy?
I think Thor should just focus on deadlift alone and setting new records, looks like his pressing has really suffered since the pec tear.
Thor is not overrated he is back from 3 year + strongman break with a torn pec and still nearly one. Look what it did to martins
