    Terrain response actually came out in 07. I have an 06 myself. Makes me a little sad that only one year later they got all that. Haha.

    • @FatAmericansGuide
      @FatAmericansGuide  2 месяца назад

      Good to know! Was it all models, or just the higher spec? I thought I had seen some 2007s without it.

    • @joshxkerrigan
      @joshxkerrigan Месяц назад +2

      @@FatAmericansGuide I’ll chime in that all 07s in the US had terrain response. They have the extra set of vents on top of the dash, different heated seat controls, new cup holders, and an electronic parking brake became standard, among other smaller changes. The 06 has a manual parking brake and the old ignition barrel location (on the center console, not on the steering column).

    • @FatAmericansGuide
      @FatAmericansGuide  Месяц назад

      @@joshxkerrigan Good Stuff! I should have researched the Terrain Response a little more - I was going off my increasingly Presidential mental faculties... I knew about the extra vents, and I like those chunkier knobs. I prefer the quirky fold out cup holder, a proper hand brake and the key barrel in the console over the dash. I'll be honest - I am kind of 'jones-ing' for a 2007 - Just so I can name him "Bond... James Bond.(007)" Thanks for watching and chiming in!

    Pretty impressive how many miles you have managed to clock. Do you have a code reader? Curious if you did the paddle install yourself and how often your dash lights up.

    • @FatAmericansGuide
      @FatAmericansGuide  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the kind words. I do have the GAP IID (Gen2 I believe - Purchased July 2016) I think they pay for themselves in no time. I did the paddle shifters myself - it is not a hard install. the worst part is getting the airbag off. I think I filmed some of it... just not sure where I saved the footage?!?!? After 11 years of tinkering and swapping this part and that - I really don't have many issues. Back in probably Feb or Mar, i was chasing a vacuum leak. Ended up replacing the intake seals and the rocker cover gaskets - big job, but 'while I was in there' also did spark plugs and injectors. The TPMS is on the fritz - but I used the GAP to disable it. One of these days I will take it by Discount tire, get the sensors refreshed and turn it back on. Glad you liked the video - thanks for watching!

    • @FatAmericansGuide
      @FatAmericansGuide  2 месяца назад +2

      Rodney - thanks for the comment! I have little or no experience with the LR3/LR4s - Do you subscribe to LRTime on here(www.youtube.com/@Vera_and_Christian)? They are "Disco 3 and 4" aficionados. In Europe, I believe our LR3/4 is their Disco 3/4. I have a buddy up the hill who bought an LR4 for his daughter. I can see if I can get it and take it on a drive. Less luxurious, but many of the same engines and components.

      Texted my buddy. Happy to let me do a review, but his daughter is a camp counselor and won't be home until mid-July. But keep an eye out for the video by the end of July hopefully

      LR4 are good in the US compared to Europe spec - we only have the V6 3liter diesel here and they are known for crank issues. the US have V8s and are pretty good overall. best most practical car I've ever owned - even with the risk of the crank :). Go for lr4 over 3, much improved imho. A Gap IID tool for diagnostics is must - have saved my $$$ and is well worth the investment

      @@FatAmericansGuide Thanks for the thoughtful reply! I haven't watched many European LR/RR videos as diesels seem to be the predominant choice of engines over there but I'll check LRTime out. From what I gather doing my research, they dropped the Discovery name in the US for a few generations to distance themselves from the issues faced by the second gen. It seems like the sweet spot is any model with the 4.4 engine. While I consider myself reasonably handy with a wrench, replacing the timing chain doesn't look like a good time.

    What major thing you have done for this engine?

    • @FatAmericansGuide
      @FatAmericansGuide  2 месяца назад +1

      Over the past 11 years really I have spent more on the suspension than the engine. When my daughter was driving it we had to replace some coolant line that looked like an octopus. Of course they bought Range Rover brand. It seems like it was about $900. The biggest expense that I can recall was the air conditioning compressor. I also had to replace a fuel pump and starters and alternators. That was before I figured out the ground (earth) strap was bad.
