My favorite of the 3 is the jig. Been tying my own for several years now and I've caught tons on em. I just caught my first 2 spinner Cohos on Friday and I'm still looking for my first spoon bite.
Just swapped my blue fox trebels to single hooks. 1:02 i still can't find wicked lure ones.. 4:30 Picked up some 3/8 oz jigs for coho last week may get 2 more.. Gonna check out spoons i got a few but bot sure what size to go w
2/5oz spoons are my favorite all around size. Wickeds you might try John’s sporting goods in Everett. I’ll see if I can find where they are locally too
@@HolyMolyOutdoors just a thought I buy mine on Amazon because there cheaper due to shipping vs there website for anyone in Canada but i can’t say if it’s the same for our cross border friends .
@@HolyMolyOutdoors The lures he's talking about are more specifically called the Gibbs Koho, and Kit A Mat spoons. Not spelled "Coho" like the actual fish. The Koho is similar to a Little Cleo or a Prime Lures Glory spoon, but its way heavier and has a heavy thump on the retrieve when you use a standard 8'6". The Kit A Mat also thumps super heavy but its more of a weird fat oval shape.
One of the best ways to improve your success for coho is to make your own spinners. I’ve been making my own for 30+ years. I can make a silver or gold plated spinner for LESS than any store-bought Blue Fox. I have no problem tossing a homemade spinner into places where the risk of losing it is high (e.g., woody debris). I’m losing less than a dollar if it gets hung up. Ditto for jigs. They are even easier to make than spinners. Especially hootchie jigs. In my experience, coho may not “slam” a spinner. Sometimes they nibble it. All you feel is the spinner blade stops spinning. Nothing else. When that happens, SET THE HOOK!
The upper tributary refers to the upper river system. Typically these are the areas that ultimately lead to the hatchery areas. Yes I do sell the lures I make. I have everything on our website. Www.HolyMolyOutdoors.com Thanks for watching!
I'm so torn on what to do tomorrow. I'd love to get after some of that falling action coho. But I already have a whole day of legwork on the Green for chum planned, in the opposite direction....
@@renownriverspnw5314 should be better tomorrow, I'd go as far upstream as you're used to fishing - think they've already pushed through the lower reaches near the mouth, where i was fishing
Some fancy spinners! So Coho for 95% of the time spoons no problem but like this one example morning they were everywhere and didn't matter what color or size spoon I tossed so I put on a #5 or 6 chartreuse blue fox and first cast! They are dancing ON the bay where I go. Just need some rain 🌧️☔ Tight Lines! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎

That’s awesome! Nothing more rewarding huh? Keep it up! Thanks for watching!
We did well with the Wicked lures last week, prior to the rain. First time for me fishing spinners and all of there on the boat had a blast!
Heck yeah! Nothing better than a wicked bite! Way to go

Absolutely 👍 thank you for watching and the support
I was recently given a Okuma GSP-S-962L 4-10lb 1/8th-3/8th, is that too light for salmon and steelhead? I would assume its more for trout.
Sounds like a side drifting rod application out of a boat. I have a g-loomis 1141 that is a 4-8, have caught a lot of steelhead on that
Went to check the river out just below Thomas Eddy & saw a bunch of Coho & chum moving up the river.... So still have some later Coho in the system
Nice! Got to love seeing that
What do you mean by upper tributary ? New to fishing
Also do you sell those lures you make or have a tutorial

Try to not rest your hook onto the actual guide put it on the guide base or the hook holder
@@holdenclark2894 that is a great tip, thank you for the reminder!
