I've been saying for the longest time, there's enough millionaires/billionaires with enough expendable income, and mankind has enough of a grasp on how to build things right that we could probably have invented a stairway that reaches all the way up into space. I really wish some lunatic would do it, and just leave it unattended and we could all agree "hey, if you're crazy and stupid enough to try walking to space, HERE IT IS!"
I know from experience that it is possible to pass the 8192 barrier and go all the way down to the max depth which is -2,147,483,648 and when that point is reached and you try to go further at least when I did it, my game crashed. And I see you are taking about going up and I think all you need to do to pass the up barrier is to use the warp forward command for example if you were looking up the command warpforward 10000 Would teleport you up that amount, but sometimes it just might not work, but I wouldn’t really know the solution to be able to do it every time.

If I think about this more, minecraft technically can have way bigger oceans than the map of subnautica from random gen. Plus infinite world the amount of water is likely bigger than the map too
Terminal velocity means the maximum velocity an object can attain while falling, you can't go above it unless you have a jetpack strapped to your back and point straight down.

That's what is so infuriating about the ending of subnautica. Alterra makes it seem as if riley OWES them for using up resources on the planet, when realistically speaking, riley built them bases, portals, food and energy sources, platforms, functioning vehicles, a prawn suit for mining, and a functioning spaceship they intercept. Riley is also the reason they can continue their operations on the planet to begin with, in the not-so-near future (though they'll gleefully ignore that, regardless, and cause a galaxy-wide virus pandemic.) They would have to build these things regardless of who got there first, so all they need to do is stake a claim on the stuff that's already built, and riley is, sadly, in no position to negotiate. This is why altera, and the world of subnautica at large, is villainous. They're a dystopian, corporate, capitalist future where no alternatives exist and corporations own entire planets, entire civilizations, at a time. Riley owes them money because altera just decided he did. It's got nothing to do with practicality or genuinely ownership deals. Riley owes them money, because he's a voiceless corporate drone, whether he wants to be or not. The moron knew it too, so he really should have stayed on the planet and just eked out a living, retiring on some sunny sandy beach somewhere, chilling for the rest of his life, letting the planters and vending machines do the work for him. He's earned it. He should have also used the big alien gun as a bargaining chip after making contact in the future. Along with the cure for the virus. He could always cure himself first and repeatedly inject himself with it, until alterra gives him what he wants.
The way you handled everything in terms of what I wanted to see from this video was impressive. Very satisfying to have all my questions and cravings answered
there was a (now patched) glitch that i discovered where if you rammed your seamoth into a cave when it had a bunch of floaters, the game would get confused and launch you to the integer limit, or at least thats what the depth meter displayed (it used to display your altitude above sea level)
i wonder if you can build platforms that high to build some sort of metal sky island thing and put a garden on top of it, i want to build this myself now that i think about it edit: i made a sky garden at 600m bc going higher is too time consuming, one of my prettiest bases tbh

Your video reminded me of something- I remember playing subnatica in 2020 and building my first base and I vividly remember there being animations for climbing and stuff then suddenly a update comes out and there’s no climbing animation doors wouldn’t open half the time, stuff would get stuck. It’s bizarre bases went from being gltich free to sometimes u getting stuck in ur door. I wonder if the animations were causing issues somehow and they needed to disable them

I'm in the process of building a compound in the cliffs past the cannon, right on the edge of the map. Where it is mostly dark, has a tunnel full of uranium, and a wreck that's split in half. Now that the developers put great rooms in, I can house the resources to build it. It's a rather boring part of the map, buts that's why I picked it. Only life there is are flocks of peepers, only two warpers, a volcano for initial power, and reaper that really doesn't bother me. I get a kick out of being a beacon of light in an otherwise dark place.
That base is totally in space when you get to the at least the top levels of it I guess. Also it's higher than the skybox itself which is odd because usually there's a build limit that would prevent you from building over this by eye box. But apparently in this game it lets you do that. I wonder if you can actually still go higher and just continue to click out the game if you get higher and higher
Very cool. I can tell you from my own game that there is a lot more to building 'extended' lengths of corridor than just a few materials and a trip or two. Full credit it's some work. I've managed an 8 KM 'corridor' straight down to the 'warp' at the bottom of the ocean (was much cooler in older versions you had a seabed around 3400 meters, and the 'edge' slanted outward for miles) and there's so much you don't know till you get there. You need deep storage for resources, making temporary 'air rooms' along the way to keep going deeper and not drown, or a new jutting edge out of the side of the cliff that you thought was a straight down drop. It gives a while new appreciation for digging a deep mine. Not to mention the MASSIVE 'base' for reinforcements to support an 8km pipeline.
Who needs the Jupiter rocket, you just make a structure so tall that it'll be hit by an orbiting spacecraft. I can only imagine making that jump in VR.
