- The judge in Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial dismissed the case after agreeing with the actor's lawyers that prosecutors hid evidence that may have been linked to the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Western movie “Rust” in 2021.

This prosecutor blew it from the initial charges, when she tried to charge him with something that wasn't even a crime at the time it happened. Just rookie moves from the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an ethical inquiry at the New Mexico state bar association. And believe me, that special prosecutor didn't quit because she disagreed with the judge. She quit because she disagreed with the DA - who looks like she broke the law here.
They will just relocate her to another state
It happens all the time in New York to Florida
It wasn’t even a realistic charge to begin with.
@@FrankBria it wasn't a realistic charge, the da grandstanded. She charged Baldwin with manslaughter bc it was his set as producer and basically said he was responsible for the lack of safety. That is like charging a CEO with fraud if an employee creates an investment scam that goes south, arguing that lax policy allowed this to happen. That kind of thing has basis in civil court, not criminal. If it did there would be a lot of ceo's in jail for crimes subordinates perpetuated.
why aren't these corrupt prosecutors locked up? ...... caught red-handed and let go.

Not corrupt. Inept. They blew a slam dunk case.
How
@@bennyhotsteppa9388no way this was slam dunk by any means. He is not responsible for this by any law imaginable.
She can be. The judge brought that up.
This case against Baldwin should have never been brought to trial. Baldwin was not the P.A on set, neither was responsible for the props. Total waste of time.
Maybe so but it seems safety took a back seat . I still wonder what does the union have to say about this ? For example I'm told there should have been a safety shield in front of the camera. There's stories about cast and crew firing live rounds for fun..did Baldwin take part or know about it ?
It was a very weak case. I don't believe him that he never pulled the trigger but there was a professional armorer that handed him a loaded gun on a movie set with live ammo brought in by her. This is 100% on her
You apparently do not understand that the ammo presented in this case was not even from the set of RUST, right?
New Mexico DA did their own tests on the gun and got it to fire without pulling the trigger, and only by pulling back the hammer. The gun had been modified, and there’s no way he knew that. Also, the armorer did not hand Baldwin the gun, it was assistant director Dave Halls, who took a plea deal. That’s 2 people who were supposed to check the gun before handing it to him.
100% agree with you. When its procedure for them to call out "Cold Gun on Set" yet you are still suppose to handle the gun in manner as if the gun "may be hot" makes zero sense.
And lets not forget that this is a movie set. The actors are handling these guns in ways that on a gun range for example would be not acceptable. They are drawing them aggressively... pointing in multiple directions and pulling the trigger is many cases.
The only thing I will ask is if there is instances of "Cold Guns" being used on sets... why isn't there multiple guns used and some of them designated as cold guns with the firing pins removed? You think this would be common sense for safety.
@@iandalcourt3384this is a gun capable of firing live ammo. Treat all guns as if they are loaded. If he’d done that, she’d be alive.

@@MrT13you can’t really CGI pulling the trigger
The man had no responsibility for ensuring that the gun was loaded, and on a movie set there is zero expectation that a gun would be loaded with live ammo. It's absurd to believe he did aything wrong, and the blame lies squarely on the person in charge of the firearms on-set.
He knows in fire arm safety when you are using one YOU are the last line of safety precaution. Baldwin knows that and ignored it.
Yes! So many lies, as if tRump wrote this himself (if possible). These false accusations should be prosecuted! Lock them (prosecutors, et al.) up.!

#1 rule of gun safety is that the person HOLDING THE GUN is responsible for keeping it pointed in a safe direction AND knowing the status of the gun (loaded or unloaded)
He's an actor in a western, it is his job to point guns at people. The whole "he should have checked the gun himself" argument is ridiculous. There is a person on-set whose job it is to ensure that guns are not loaded with live ammo and they failed to do so. This fiasco is their responsibility.
I know a lot of people hate Baldwin because he's a progressive, but if you're actually Americans you need to understand that a ruling against Baldwin would undermine the role of the armorer and place legal responsibility upon the actor that they should not have, because they are not licensed or trained for it. Armorers are there for a reason.
The prosecutor, the investigator, the crime scene tech, were a nightmare. The tech couldn’t remember anything. The investigator talked in circles, and the prosecutor should’ve known better. The prosecutor getting on the stand pretty much hung herself.

Being accused for the accidental death of a friend is the epitome of being harassed by felonious prosecutors is wrong.
Not so sure a certain ex-president's hand isn't in this!
Unless you are Donald Trump. Then malicious prosecution is ok
He is responsible. By their own rules and guidelines, any person who is in a position to operate a firearm on set is required to safety check the gun and it is forbidden to point any firearm at another person, even one that is loaded with blanks. Those rules were in place while filming. He violated two major safety rules and as a result, a person was killed.
