    Beautiful restoration job. That sausage stuffer looks much better and it works like a charm too. By removing all the rust and dirt you have it safe to use again as well. Excellent work.

    Kin in norther Wisconsin from all over Europe, still did fall pig killing and used every bit. The best kielbasa (called ‘summer sausage’ for some reason), blood sausage, head cheese, all delicious. Salted cured hams hung overhead in the dining area.

      Maybe. The problem I had with a grinder was that animal grease and oil dissolved the oil stain in the wood and it leached out and smeared.. Next one I’m baking paraffin into it like a cutting board.

    There are a lot of different designs of hand crafted sausage stuffers. These designs varied with the available materials from crude to complex. I have one that uses a screw like a grape press. It is easy to use and the sausages come out great. Every town had "a guy" who made these and other butchering related tools.

    Ash is a good choice, very dense, will not easily stain or absorb, and I would have left the natural color.

    Vypadá to celkem dobře, až na tu hřídel kliky, která se v ložisku viklá. To bych ještě dodělal. Na utěsnění pístu by měl být "O" kroužek, aby se masová směs netlačila zpět do válce.

      Lo compré por Internet hace muchos años. Sólo tienes que escribir el sistema de recubrimiento en polvo en Google y ver lo que se recomienda para su ubicación. Saludos desde Polonia. PS: En un mes voy a estar en Los Cristianos :D

    Uh oh, I was told "you never want to know how sausage is made" - the damage is done! 🤣 Seriously though that was a nice restoration on a very oddly manufactured piece of equipment. Maybe the gear broke and they had to weld that back together? Either way, great video! Already subbed - sorry I can't do it again! 😁👍

      Greasy meat can let ugly stains on plain wood, so the stain may help a little with that.

    15:07 на "сухую" никогда не нарезайте резьбу, в мягком металле. Метчик может застрять и поломаться, будет лишняя работа. Добавляйте капельку масла и используйте два метчика, для черновой и чистовой нарезки.

    Kind of horrifying to reflect that most or all of that gunk was on this unit, the last time it made sausage. Those interior welds around the output nozzle look like bacteria traps, too.

    It looked like the piston(the pushing part) had an O ring of some kind to seal the tube.

      That's right. I ordered some rubber filament to make a new one, but the pack is still in transit, so I decided to go without the video because it works fine without it. Good observation, though! 😍

    16:56 у меня всё же подозрение, что шестерни стояли изначально не так, как надо. Маленькую с большой надо поменять местами, тогда ручку можно будет вращать в правильную сторону.

    Why did you turn the brass handle on your lathe and then drill and tap the hole on your drill press? I would have drilled and tapped it while it was in the lathe.

      I have a damaged drill chuck. Now, it is the supplies list. Takes time till the new one arrives, so I had to choose the other way :)

    If you are making Brass Handles, suggest, you should give it a rough finish instead of smooth finish. This will help in getting grip while operating handle, otherwise, slight sweating or moist hands and grip will get lost.

    I am wondering if you could have turned those ugly welding blobs off the inside of the gear by using your metal lathe?

      The gear had a significant crack, which posed a risk of further weakening or damaging the wheel if I continued machining it on the lathe. I had to balance between thorough restoration and preserving the piece's integrity.

      Можно, но на один болт уходит около 2,5 часов. Я знаю, потому что мне пришлось сделать 12 для резака Chaff, который я недавно восстановил. В этот раз я предпочел купить их, потому что немного опоздал с графиком из-за более крупного проекта, над которым я работал параллельно. Будьте здоровы

    14:53 заготовка плохо закреплена, сверло "гуляет" и может сломаться, если заготовка сместится. Прочнее закрепляйте заготовку и охлаждайте сверло.

    NEVER put petroleum great grease on food related products. Always use silicone grease. FYI

      Thanks, that's a good point, but there is no direct contact with the food, so I didn't see a problem in this case.

      Да, вы правы. В том, что я использовал, нет ничего химического, что непосредственно контактировало бы с едой :)

      Хаха. Это обычная смазка, но шестеренки не соприкасаются с мясом, только если вы планируете засунуть туда пальцы, чего я не рекомендую делать.

    Этот станок придуман в начале мезозойской эры, как и дыба , изучите принцип работы шнековой мясорубки, хотя и она придумана лет так 300 назад.

    There is absolutely no reason for grease to be put on those gears. They are open. They will not be spinning fast. So the most they need is oil when using.
    STOP putting grease on everything. Grease holds on to dirt which will cause more damage and will look horrible.
    Only if those gears were enclosed completely never to be seen again should you use grease. Since these gears are open, use oil. A food safe oil. Even vegetable oil. BUT NOT GREASE!
