This video is a RUclips masterpiece! Your rather subtle humor - the part about the uncle and his will, the admonition not to bring your own flask, etc. - had me laughing out loud at numerous turns while watching this.
Honestly a video advising a few styles like waltz, tango, swing and general slow dancing wouldn't be half bad. Bonus points for practical advice on how to find lessons in your area (google, dance studios, theatres and facebook groups and such).

Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

I always go by responsible drinking. This is because a few years ago I started drinking a single glass of wine with my dinner on occasions despite drinking underage. But I'm glad it happened because it keeps me in a good light and it counteracts the culture of Australian youth, that is binge drinking the day you turn the legal age of 18. Even with something as informal as beers, I sip on them in moderation to embrace the brewery.
Very timely video. I've seen many good employees tank their careers at holiday parties through inappropriate behavior or choosing to drive while intoxicated. Also, it's a good idea to refrain from taking drunken selfies. It's one thing to have a few too many, it's quite another to document your boorish/drunken behavior for all to see. Happy Holidays!
The rule I have at my home is anything is open to welcomed guests but if it looks fancy, don't mix it. Me and a friend love a glass of something good with a cigar or maybe some quality moonshine (meaning it came from a distillery not cabin Joe.) Over all I found your videos and fell in love with them. Well done sir.
In my opinion drinking really differs from occasion to occasion, at business dinners I obviously limit my drinking. Yet, from experience, I can say that most people don't hold back at networking drinks, I've seen some high end business man go quite far and it always stays within the group. So I'd just look for what kind of people are at whatever place you're drinking at, if your familiar with the group you're probably familiar with their drinking etiquette.
If you want to make sure the bartender keeps you in mind, even when it gets busy, spark up conversation with them in the down time, especially about the specific products or even the bar concept in general. Guests who seem genuinely interested in the establishment or the beverages do get more attention from me and I tend to notice them more even when it's very busy.
A man does as he pleases with respect to himself and those around him. I was pleasantly surprised he didn't dissuade from so-called "girly drinks". These videos give some decent advice on etiquette but the hallmark of a real man is confidence and security in one's self. If you want your fru-fru beverage, so be it. Others be damned.
The amount of people that are rude to restaurant or bar staff is unbelievable. My advice, NEVER work in a restaurant or a bar. People are rude and don't care about you. Occasionally, there will be guests that treat you with respect and acknowledge that you're busy and working hard. However most of the time, there won't be.
As a person that usually enjoy bars and drinks alone, I can guarantee that tipping (even in europe or elsewhere where not tipping isn't frowned upon) and being friendly totally pays off. I get free drinks at my bar all the time when the bartender accidentally makes the wrong cocktail or use the wrong alcohol, then they ask me if I'd like a perfectly fine cocktail that was mistankely made. I also frequently get free drinks if they just happen to feel like it. Usually if I spend 40€ on drinks I get 50€ worth of them. Also bartenders are good company.

Mr. Schneider, Gentleman's Gazette is my favorite men's style channel and you in particular have inspired me with the confidence to really begin dressing like a gentleman despite having such a late start at it in life. My new "proper" wardrobe that I have recently begun putting together as a result of the newfound inspiration is still quite basic at the moment but, while overwhelming at times to decide which and what and how to purchase next, I am utilizing a lot of your tips and guidelines in considering all of my pieces, current and future. I really appreciate all of the work you put into your channel and your videos. In particular, being a casual history enthusiast I appreciate the related historical backgrounds you give to different pieces in so many of your style guides. Above all else though, I appreciate the general guidelines you give for incorporating classic men's wear from the traditional and timeless perspective. Thanks for all that you do for us simple men out there who need a helping hand in this arena. Cheers!
Hello, Sven! Slightly unrelated, but I wanted to say that I quoted one of your articles on a paper that I had to write about one of my ties, so thank you for being a reliable source! I got a first on it!
Always when I'm at a classy bar, I always order a Sidecar or a Green Man. Most of you might know the Sidecar, but for those interested, Green Man consists of Jameson (2cl), blue curaçao (1cl), one egg white and lime (or lemon) juice (2cl) mixed together and served in a tumbler.
After almost 50 years of being a Scotch man, I am now an Irish Whisky drinker, on the rocks, and may get hate mail on this one, but I really like the 10 year old Bushmill's.
Lime and soda looks good. Many of my friends don't drink anymore because they are parents, or they are driving. The favorite for them around my place is 1/3 cranberry juice and 2/3 ginger ale. I serve it in a crystal wine glass type water glass so it's still festive. A note on whiskeys -- try Wiser's. It is aged for 8 years and is very smooth.
In a crowded bar in the US, it's a good tactic to give the bartender a very generous tip after the first order. You will get priority when you come back for a second order.
A number of people either think or comment, that most things in these videos are absolute standard and obvious, not worth mentioning. Let me tell you from personal experience, these things are absolutely no standard, we have all been brought up differently and have inhereted different guidelines. I have had some experiences with roommates for example, that left me speechless while it didn't even cross their mind, that they just failed "the standard" (my standard) miserably. Always remember, you might be on the other side of the equasion before you know it, the only way to protect yourself from that, especially as a gentleman, is to always be respectful, polite, attentive and maybe a little reserved; depending on the context of course ^^
My 18th and 19th birthdays became so messy I gave up drinking for ten years, only the odd one but I became the designated driver instead. A few months back I went on holiday with some friends and I got super drunk.. Hearing the stories of me dancing for hours when there was no music, and apparently I am a "really funny happy drunk".. Thank god my friend found me passed out over a staircase of the hotel opposite our villa at 6am.. (we tried to ride our bikes back but one of my mates threw me in a taxi because I kept falling off) but I will only ever drink 3 beers if I go to a gig but I don't go out out anyway unless it's an occasion..even then drinking isn't my thing, just watch out of the strawberry daiquiris, they can be lethal while on holiday in a hot country! Haha nice video again!
For those unaware, the history of the Manhattan is quite interesting. The original recipe consists of 2oz Rye, 1oz sweet vermouth and 2 dshes bitters. 212 being the area code for Manhattan. Why Rye whiskey? Though the drink is named (and created) after Manhattan, the drink was originally made using canadian whiskey (Like crown), not an american whiskey. During prohibition (around the time that this drink became prominent), while much of the whiskey supply in america came from the south (led to the start of NASCAR), in New York it was far easier to obtain whiskey from the north.
On a Christmas Eve years ago, I once stood next to Cowboy's great Michael Irvin and his cousin at a large packed bar. They had the bartender use a can opener to make a small hole in the bottom of a Red Bull can, next let a little out and refill that amount with several shots of Jagermeister. They held that up to their mouths and popped the the top seal and shot it within seconds. After several they wished everyone a Merry Christmas and off they went.
Most bartenders can't make an old fashioned to save their lives. If they can, they typically don't have the ingredients as basic as they are. The old fashioned is my go to drink.
When you want to turn down a drink, or even an invitation, it's best to avoid any explanation. Explanations invite conversation on the topic. People try to "help" you fix the problem, instead of letting your preference stand.
Great Video, i really like your style, have you ever played in a theater? A little correction: Im working as a bartender in germany and we do as well enjoy somebody who tips, its common to tip around 10%.
My standard drinking is a gentleman is don't drink it all the gentlemen like not even wine cuz you know it's people say it's gentlemanly to drink but I don't think it is 5 different standards of gentlemanliness than most to if you're considering against when if you don't drink you know I don't drink alcohol
I have two thoughts about what I have learned as a 63 year old “gentleman”. As the Boss when you must drink with coworkers, buy the first round, socialize and go home. No good comes after the first round. Tipping. If you are 2 or 3 people tip $10 or so the first round, 4 or more tip $20, always cash, this will show your appreciation for good service and guarantee it throughout the evening. If you leave a generous tip at the end of your evening you are only thanking them.
Good thing you threw up on your friends leg and not your pleated chino's, or brogue oxfords. Maybe a " How to throw up like a Gentleman" video might be helpful.
My choice of drink is usually either a dry martini with a ratio of between 6:1 and 10:1 gin to vermouth, or a single malt scotch and I will usually drink 1 or 2 an hour at most and usually drink water to alternate. Learned from a casual New Year's gathering at my house a couple of years ago when I got so drunk I had no idea what went on after 2am that night. Something I'll never do again.
Does remind me of a magazine piece I read years ago. Apparently, English and German tourists were rubbing each other the wrong way and the little fued had spilt over into the newspapers. The Germans were accusing the English of drinking “from sun up until fall down”! 😂
number four is usually the one I've had the most trouble with.. a simple glimpse of somebody taking a drink is enough to make one follow suit sometimes . it's easier done than said to take drinks without realizing it .. being so caught up in the aspect of the social part of it one may be unaware of their own actions (impulse)

My standard drinking is a gentleman is don't drink it all the gentlemen like not even wine cuz you know it's people say it's gentlemanly to drink but I don't think it is 5 different standards of gentlemanliness than most to if you're considering against when if you don't drink you know I don't drink alcohol
Gin is an underrated spirit, it's quickly become my favorite spirit once I was exposed to good Gin. Barr Hill and Joust Gin, so good
I have two thoughts about what I have learned as a 63 year old “gentleman”.
I like that 90 % of people dont take these videos seriously
Any video on the cards of how to "pass wind" like a gentleman?😄😄
Yet another great video, to the point and perfect for this time of the year, thank you.
6:04 In germany it’s expected to give 5 to 10 percent
10-15% in gehobenen Bars
Der versaut mir hier mein Trinkgeld
Nope, dont say anything if u dont know. In Germany no one tipps anywhere. Und ich weiß das weil ich in deutschland lebe.
In my experience does "tipping" in Germany depends in where you live. For example is it usual to tip in cologne
6:17 that look.....digged through my soul!
😂
Does remind me of a magazine piece I read years ago. Apparently, English and German tourists were rubbing each other the wrong way and the little fued had spilt over into the newspapers. The Germans were accusing the English of drinking “from sun up until fall down”! 😂
Wonderful series ! Amazing this has not been explored previously.
Your attire looks great. It’s just a little too loose fitting. Having it tailored to fit a little bit more snug (not tight) would look better.
How to enjoy life as a gentleman
How to burn your savings like a gentleman.
Excellent video. Simple. Subtle. Gentlemanly ...
number four is usually the one I've had the most trouble with.. a simple glimpse of somebody taking a drink is enough to make one follow suit sometimes . it's easier done than said to take drinks without realizing it ..
being so caught up in the aspect of the social part of it one may be unaware of their own actions (impulse)
I'm done this one and ended up on the floor too many times at 20 - 25 age
