It uses a single 18650 battery. A Single AA would not be long enough or powerful enough to run it. But don't bother. Despite the one in this review being able to, there are several reviews stating it can't even burn paper, personal experience included.

Personal experience was... just a really bright green laser pretty much. It couldn't set paper on fire whether focused or not. Didn't even feel slightly different shining it at my own arm.
Notes:
Dynamic Laser Pointer by Dynamic Laser Co.
It is Made in China.
The keys are super cheap. Some buyers have gotten broken or bent keys upon delivery. But don't worry your pretty little heads because a quick shove and turn of a screwdriver or anything narrow enough to fit partially into the gap and rigid enough to twist without deforming will unlock it.
Screwing out the "Focus" on the front end is, exactly as he showed. It doesn't narrow the beam, but widens it.
If you've used 18650 cell flashlights, don't put the Positive end in first like those. Positive faces the cap.
Eye protection is good if you are just messing with it because the surface you point it at can make you see floaters for a bit if it's close to you, I used my normal sunglasses though which was good enough to not see floaters.
Final thoughts: Cool, bright AF Green Laser. Did it live up to the hype here or on other people saying it had the ability to set even a bit of paper or your own self on fire? Not even remotely. It's just a nifty $24 laser. The $100 one they sell that looks different might, but I wouldn't bother wasting the money myself.
