Using a laser pointer in someone’s eye really needs to be punished much more severely.
You'll get arrested if you point them at planes
Yeah a 2 year prison sentence and $10,000 fine
Is it considered assault ? It should be honestly because you can blind someone like that
Like maybe toss them into the field and have everyone throw baseballs at him

I would argue then that he should not be referred to as a “fan.”
Me too. Miscreant came to mind.
I've heard the etymology of "fan" is an abbreviation of "fanatic".

That green spot was huge. I can’t imagine the laser was that close.
Probably just a low quality laser pointer
That light he found wasn’t even green though
I had a laser like that (still have red and violet from the set but the green self-destructed), and it had not so great collimation that would easily have made a spot that big from 100 feet away. And then I gave a set to my mother, and _her_ green laser would have been a spot an inch and a half wide at the same distance. So all you can really hope to determine is what direction it is coming from based on where it is and how it moves, but you can't guess the distance based on beam size when dealing with cheap pocket lasers because they're inconsistent as hell.
Usually a light beam expands from a source, like a projector needs to be far away.. so who knows
its still completely blinding
I was a victim to a laserpointer as i was driving with a helmet - It completely blindsided me, i emergency braked my scooter, had to take my helmet off and was blinded for a good 2 minutes.. worst experince ever - Never found out who did that and after 5 mins i was ready to drive again.. insane!

As an airline pilot, I cannot express how dangerous and egregious this is. I’ve been lazed once in flight and it is really scary. You vision is completely flooded and you have to look away instantly, which is really bad if you’re close to the ground (takeoff/landing).

Not really.
At first I was going to say this is a bit extreme but then I also remembered that they could blind the players so seems reasonable.
I've worked with lasers. Green lasers can permanently damage the retina leading to blindness. Also the size of the ladder spot is dependant on the focal point of the lasers lens. It could be in the lowest first row of seats or from the last row in the nose bleed section.

Lol I remember they were like $40 a piece when they first came out they ripped us off good 😂
Laser tech here:
Laser pointers won't show on the screen unless the guy is pointing it to the camera, they're directional. For it to show on camera it needs to either be directed into the lens (which would basically drown out the screen) or it needs to reflect off of something (like Muncy's face) and be scattered towards the camera. If it's powerful enough you can see it scatter off dust in the air, which shows the entire beam, but with something low powered like that one, you're not going to be able to pick it up in the crowd. Also the light that was there was white, whereas a laser is one-color (monochromatic).
Also the size of the beam is a dead giveaway that the laser pointer is shit-tier with bad collimation.
Bunch of cool factoids, but like our english teacher said, whats the thesis, whats your point?
@@sterbprepper4798 that those flashes he pointed out aren't the laser pointer.

I saw this last night & I was both disgusted & disappointed as a New Yorker & Mets’ fan. I don’t know if the person was found, but in my opinion, anyone who is caught doing that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent allowable by law. Not only are you messing with a game, you can severely damage someone’s eyes.
Also they could be betting on the game and effectively changing the outcome in their favour... Especially considering it was tied when it started happening
Lasers over a certain brightness have to start being regulated, sadly.
BUT MUH RITES
@@twizz420 I have my opinion on who it was based on the section the camera immediately showed & a person immediately shoving something into his pocket, looking at his friends like “Did you see what I did?” Let’s just put it this way, IF I’m right, he is too young to even cross the street by himself. That said, I would prosecute the adult with him if he was caught.

A dude from my high school tried this, he had a laser pointer with him in a private box. He and all his little buddies got kicked and fined for the laser and underage drinking, and the mom lost her job as VP of the hospital. Wild times
The mother lost her job over that? That is lawsuit worthy
@@dspsblyuth It was probably unauthorized use and plus the fact that that illegal underage drinking was involved. Hospitals and companies hire law firms that get paid thousands of dollars per hour. They wouldn't have fired her unless they were sure they had legal immunity from a lawsuit.

Criminal prosecution and jail time should be the result
There's a couple other similar flashes in the crowd (I see one up and to the left of the one called out in the video). Those are probably people taking pictures of the field on their phones. The phone uses an infrared light to aid focus and, while it's invisible to you and me, it shows up white on most cameras (which have sensors that can see into the infrared).
You should have a pretty hard time seeing a laser in the crowd unless it's scattering off something. Nearly all of the laser light goes where the dot is (that's kinda the point of a laser) so unless it's pointed at you it won't look like a bright light. Also, you'd expect this one to look green.
This guy does not get invited to parties. A walking "aKsHuAlLy".

Balk Rules

1b. Okay well listen. A balk is when you balk the
1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The pitcher is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, batter, that prohibits the batter from doing, you know, just trying to hit the ball. You can't do that.
1c-b. Once the pitcher is in the stretch, he can't be over here and say to the runner, like, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna tag you out! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to pitch and then don't pitch, you have to still pitch. You cannot not pitch. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, throwing motion of the ball, and then, until you just throw it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the ball up here, like this, but then there's the balk you gotta think about.

Don't worry. Only a matter of time till cancel culture has balks go away, like certain team name/logos, unwritten rules, pitchers batting, umpires soon too etc... then we'll see pitchers dancing around because fun.

I don't think Jomboy got the laser identified, there are other similar white lights going on outside his circle too.
Yep. There were a lot of those little lights around during the analysis. I think those were just reflections of some sort. Not sure how jomboy missed that.
Yeah but also, why would anyone turn the laser back on and point it while Muncy is pointing back at them trying to figure out who it was?
none as bright
Yep. You can tell the laser is far away because of how quickly it moves. As well, the laser would have to be pretty damn far for the circle to be that large on the players... like... nosebleed in the corner.
As a Mets fan, I'm embarrassed by this. It's actually assault to shine one of those at somebody's face. It could lead to jail time. It's not a harmless prank.

It's certainly a felony if you do it to a pilot or a cop, so why shouldn't it be for everyone else?

You are a troll and probably the one withe the laser pointer.
Lasers (by definition) have a very small angle at which the light they emit is visible, even from a very far distance. Thus, unless the laser was pointed directly at the camera, its origin would not be visible on broadcast. The flashes you're pointing to are most likely from phone cameras or reflections.

That bit about the balk was hilarious. Haha.
You are the bomb, Jomboy... I am not a sitter-and-watcher of full sporting events, but I LOVE highlights of any sport, and you make them even more interesting than they are by themselves!
One day, hopefully before I leave my mortal coil, I will endeavour to understand the balk rules in baseball
At least the Mets showed some fight, that will be a consolation to getting swept 😂 great stuff Jomboy
Classless fans
Its all about the Yankees nerd
Hey brotski
@@mcray0309 sup man lol
@@jermmey can’t prevent everyone from being stupid. Yankee Red Sox game had a similar issue this year
Thank GOD that it didn't interfere with them winning and sweeping the Mets!
Can we also breakdown Jansen's electric slide "somehow not a balk" setup and delivery?
He does it before coming to a complete stop, so there's nothing illegal about it.
Okay my guy JOM!!! We need a breakdown of the final inning of Tyler Gilbert’s NO-NO during his first start.
I’m leaning towards that not being the laser pointer guy. I doubt he would continue doing it when Muncy is pointing at him.
Yeah, agreed. Also, a laser tech in the comments above illustrates why it isn't the laser.
My sentiments exactly.
Looked like a phone.
@@denniswaynepennenga3700 yes there’s all sorts of reflective things in a crowd that put out a dot of light. Could be a watch face.
Yeah. That light didn't look green, although it's pretty hard to tell. There are all sorts of things that could make a light on that in the camera. Watch face reflection, phone screen glare, camera flash, etc.
That laser is easily a class 3 and incredibly dangerous.
The laser pointer hit Edwin Diaz face too soooo definitely just a all around chump lmao
Those flinch twitch balks are such bs. Lol funny whenever there's a balk at the game watching all the fans trying to figure out what the hell just happened 🤔😆
Years ago I went to a Braves game and we ended up winning on a balk and I had no idea what happened haha.
@@Jthornwe lol yeah a balk walk off, Ive seen one of those. Thats gotta be the most confusing thing in baseball
Meanwhile Jansen is doing the Lambada on the mound right after, and no one blinks.
“Mets end up losing this game”
What a surprise...
“I researched laser pointers on Amazon”
This guy deserves a Pulitzer for investigative journalism
Deplorables simply shouldn’t be allowed at public events.
"trying to make a good impression with his new team"
It's official, jomboy is living under a rock theses days.
Fun fact: if you get caught shining a laser at an aircraft you'll end up in federal prison. It happens occasionally, but it's basically impossible to catch someone
I was looking out the window on a commercial flight the other day when we got hit by one.
Dude a laser would never bring down a plane that a civilians can own
@@lukecoffey4921 there’s definitely some super high quality lasers for sale, and a smart and evil enough person could easily make their own
So there was a fun story of a teenager shinning lasers at helicopters but he hits a military one that has night vision so they can see the laser all the way to the house and get the address and record it. So the next day MPs so up at the house and arrest the kid.
@@lukecoffey4921 Uhh yes, it definitely could happen. Pilots can't fly if they can't see. Here's a video of what it looks like in the cockpit.

Laser pointers being used to blind people needs to be treated as a serious crime. You can cause permanent damage. They need to arrests these ppl.
In the freeze frame you can see the right side of Muncy's nose (the left side from our vantage point) is green but the opposite side isn't. That light didn't come from the area between 3rd base and the plate. It didn't come from right field either because you can see in the video that it hits his chest which is facing third base. It came from a lower seat though because the brim of the helmet doesn't do anything to block it. Being that the beam was pretty large diameter, the person probably wasn't very close. I'd be looking at the front row between the left field foul pole and center field to try and find the person.
Neat, I found Captain Disillusion’s personal account
@@ImSquiggs Thanks for the comment. Should make mine more visible!
@@51stparedoctober4 I'm here to help friend
I knew that we would not have to wait long for this breakdown!! Great job, as always guys!!!
I'm a Dodgers fan. If this were reversed and a Dodgers fan was shining at opposing players, I'd be just as mad. This could be dangerous in their eyes, I assume!
"Mets ended up losing this game" 😂 lol
“Seems like an easy thing, to not do.” 🤣🤣
Jomboy: Hey guys, don’t bring laser pointers to games
Also Jomboy: I’ve seen them on Amazon, you can get them for like $8
Fans with a laser pointer have no place in sports no matter which side. True fans must never interfere and either feel the joy or pain whatever your team's status. Justice must be served.
Moreover pointing a laser toward an aircraft cockpit is now considered a federal crime. In most major jurisdictions, to point a laser toward a sports game should be illegal too! From this point forward, laser pointers should be strictly forbidden in sports stadiums!
I can’t unsee the green on Muncy’s face in my algorithm every time 😂
Stay classy, New York
So you’re putting us all into one category? Real classy. You suck man.
@@mattmarino4033 and you swallow
Because the dodgers are really a class organization
People saying "classy" is the best way of knowing if they are a douche or not
As a postal employee,
I would like to mention - those laser pointers are not only lasers, but point at stuff.
It’s in New York..i’m not surprised at all. Classless fans there.
Laser to the eyes have lingering effects and in any sport that needs visual accuracy well u get the point fyi cheap lasers lose focus at different ranges so the light gets bigger farther away
All lasers get bigger the farther you go. It’s called the inverse square law and applies to all far field EM radiation.
Can’t wait for the D-Backs video! Congrats to Tyler Gilbert!
Muncy made my second dodgers game ever a good one after he intentionally threw me a ball to catch in between warm up innings

Worst part is this dude probably paid $60 for this $5 pointer sold off Instagram. Around this time I remember seeing these stupid things advertised on RUclips and IG for “being able to be seen from space high power laser pointers” 😂
Seriously?! I mean, seriously?! Who would do something like that?!
