  • I visited Cambuslang Rangers to see them take on Arthurlie in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division.
The game didn't disappoint with Cambuslang winning 3-2. They share many similarities with Rangers Football Club but also many differences too!

I share your sentiment with somewhat falling out of love with the Prem. It really is the European Super League people opposed a few years back. I now see why older generations back when the Prem was created opposed it and were weary of its potential detriment to English football.

Actually at the same time you were at a level 6 Scottish game, I was at a match at Step 5 of English Non-League in an equally traditional old school ground - Flackwell Heath (not too far from your old home town ?) who won 4-0 in the Combined Counties League. Admission (Seniors rate), programme and cheeseburger all for a whopping £8.50 !!!

Another great video mate and I love to see these lower league grounds, I am a fan of an English Premier league club plus I am English but I also have Irish citizenship due to my late mum and dad. My local club where i live here in Hertfordshire is a lower league club with a club house and two small stands. I love the modern stadiums but I have to say that old grounds who are very old and have kept their character. I have been to Scotland years ago to watch games in what is now the Scottish premier league. I used to go to watch Aberdeen games home and away when my English club were playing away, this was in the 1980's with the Metro dons, which were Police officers from the London Metropolitan Police who came from Aberdeen and of course were Aberdeen fans. I have of course been to Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee United, Rangers, Partick Thistle, Motherwell and Hampden Park in the 1980's. I love the old grounds as they were proper Football stadiums. In England I've been to Stamford Bridge, Selhurst Park, Highbury ( arsenal's old ground), Portman Road, White Hart Lane, Upton Park, Anfield, the Den ( millwall's old ground), The Dell ( Southampton's old ground), Vicarage Road, Plough Lane ( Wimbledon fc), Old Trafford, Anfield, Loftus Road, Craven Cottage, Fratton Park, Hitchin Town fc, Hertford Town fc, The Valley, Manor Ground, Valley Parade, old Wembley, Goodison Park, Grimsby Town fc, Filbert Street, The Baseball Ground, Roker Park, The Hawthorns, Gay Meadow, Dean Court, St James's Park, Highfields Road, Brisbane Road, Kenilworth Road, Asnton Gate. Hillsborough, Bramall lane, Old grounds are just better and are proper British Football grounds. 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

As an American, following non-league football can be tough, but luckily the team I follow, Weymouth, has their games broadcast via Mixr, thus I can listen to most of their games. Plus Weymouth usually publishes, on RUclips, a highlight video of each of their games. Makes it easier to follow the team. Love to catch a game live at Bob Lucas Stadium some day.
Any chance you can travel to the south coast of England to do a Weymouth game? Or go to Cornwall and show 10th tier Penzance (I'm currently managing them in FM22), who play in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division West.

@Cal Irons - Story? Well sort of. Baseball has always been my #1 sport, but I did grow up in a town where soccer is extremely popular as well. My town has produced numerous MLB players and professional soccer players. That said, I'm old enough to have been an "early adopter" of Fantasy baseball, playing in Rotisserie Baseball Leagues starting from the mid-1980's.
As an American, you have probably heard of Bill James, famous baseball writer, historian, and statistician. Back in the 1990's, he created Bill James Fantasy Baseball, an online fantasy baseball game. I played that game for years. Bill James sold the game to STATS Inc, and the game transformed in Diamond Mind Baseball.
Anyway, while playing Bill James/Diamond Mind baseball, I befriended a Londoner, and we ran several fantasy leagues together. He was learning baseball, and was a diehard Fulham fan. I asked him if he knew of any good/similar soccer simulation games, and he recommended either FIFA Manager or Championship Manager. I played those sims, and found Championship Manager (later Football Manager) more to my liking.
As for Weymouth - one of the things I like about European soccer is the concept of Promotion/Relegation, so I did NOT want to play Man U, Bayern, Barcelona, Juve, etc. As the Championship Manager/Football Manager base games offered more tiers in England than most other countries, I looked for an English team that fit criteria that interested me:
      1. Team had to have a long history - preferably 100+ years of history.
      2. The location of the team had to interest me
      3. Team had to be League 2 or lower in the English pyramid
      4. Had to like the team color/uniform
Probably other criteria I used as well. After researching every team fitting that basic criteria, found about 3-4 teams, but for seem reason, Weymouth seemed most interesting. Ever since, I always have at least 1 Weymouth save with Football Manager.
Naturally, playing the team in a sim, you want to learn more about the real team. Subscribed to Weymouth website/fan pages, found their broadcasts, watch their videos, get their news feed, etc.. So a very long-winded way to say I became a Weymouth fan via a soccer simulation game.
That said, this channel is GREAT, as it gives these smaller clubs exposure! It's because of this channel I have a Loch Ness FC jersey (Scotland - North Caledonian Football League). Looks better than any Premier League team jersey! Also I try to follow other lower tier teams, when possible. No specific team, just check out different league/team videos online. The Premier League may have the best talent, but the average fan is "locked out". Lower tier teams have a fan and community spirit that can't be matched.
