- Cowdenbeath & Albion Rovers used to be top tier clubs in Scotland. From playing against Celtic, Rangers, Hibs & Hearts to the Lowland League, this is the first time these two clubs have met below the SPFL since their relegations.

"That was my grandson's first away game."
Ensuring the legacy. Well done Granda!
"Yer greedy wee shite", perfect fanspeak. I never liked stadiums with speedway and stockcars round the side, it puts fans miles from the pitch, especially behind the goal. Good luck to both clubs, and champions should always get promoted.
Cowdenbeath. "The Blue Brazil". Sad.
As was sung about them to the tune of the Adams Family;
"They come from by Loch Gelly,
They have nae got a telly.
They're dirty and they're smelly,
The Cowden Family."
I do miss them being announced across the United Kingdom on Sports Report and TV every Saturday during the fitba' season. People in London, Birmingham, wherever, need reminding that such places exist as an important part of the nation's cultural heritage.
They've never even heard of Carlisle
The Blue Brazil - Gotta love that confidence in yourself❤
Not often said but Cowden must be the narrowest park in senior football. Bare minimum because of the race track. Shame you didn't capture Ross Connelly's amazing save near the end.
These videos have made me fall in love with lower league football! So much so, that i will be attending my first non league match saturday at my local club, rushall olympic
You won`t regret it.
Up the Pics
The best football book I have read is 'Black Diamonds and the Blue Brazil' by Ron Ferguson, who was a local clergyman in Cowdenbeath. It tells the story of the team and the town during the miners strike.
I’ve just finished reading this, great book 🙂
My club in my home city is Bristol Rovers but i have always had a soft spot for Cowdenbeath, at least for the past 38 years!
Reminds me of the iconic Eastville Stadium which had a dog track around.Have fond memories of the Tote End packed and bouncing.Happy days.Great vid.great nostalgia! UTG 🏴☠️⛽️
Great stuff as ever Sam, loved the ground when i saw them play East Stirling in a play-off game about 15 years ago. As you mentioned 0-0 games, so far this season i've done 95 games and still no goalless games.
Great video! Cowdenbeath are a great wee club. Keep up the good work 👍
Fun Fact. Cowdenbeath have the highest ratio of English supporters in Scottish football.
Higher than Rangers doubt it
He wrote "ratio" not total number.
Won’t be higher than rangers
Actually absolutely nuts,no self respecting native would support a foreign team, wouldn't support an English team if my life depended on it.
@@alexelder6115 I'm 47 ive always had English teams like I liked it was Liverpool but since going to see Everton its Everton great club great people great fans
Great video as always, i'm cowden fan, moved to England so always nice to see our wee club in the videos!
Sam is really enjoying your videos. Scottish football is daft it needs a right good overhaul. As a Celtic supporter who loves going to the lower leagues that’s football
Brilliant video again Sam covering the Wee Rovers, so close to seeing your first Rovers win, hopefully next time, also Cowdenbeath a great club
Great video
Enjoyed chatting with you last night at the match
Probably the highlight of a soulless & goalless game
See you next time at the San Siro 🔴🟡💪
I was on the left of you that walked by a few times I was the kid sitting down 🤣
Very interesting video Sam. Sad to see teams like Cowdenbeath and Albion Rovers fall so badly, but honestly if their football isn't good enough, teams who are better deserve to be promoted at their expense. Just a pity there isn't direct promotion and relegation, to at least give them a better chance to get back up. If it were up to me I would have the bottom 2 in League 2 relegated and replaced by the winner of the Lowland League and Highland League.
Hiya Sam, you get more views on RUclips at these grounds than the attendance of the game, LOL, I liked lado when he shouted "You greedy Wee Shite", propper howling I was, keep the lowland league vlogs up, I used to support Kelty Hearts but I've changed to Bonnyrigg Rose, but I do keep up with Kelty Hearts, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
Always enjoy your videos. Love how you find these interesting venues
Love your stuff...thanks for sharing...
I watched Falkirk play Cowdenbeath in a cup game, where one of the coo's players fell face first into one of the tractor tyres placed around the pitch .
I like these videos more than when you feature the big teams.
My mrs is from here , her sister used to own a dry cleaners in the town kingdom laundry . I’m English but always been a blue Brazil fan
Great video. Travelling around, watching the sport you love in 'uncharted' places is - as Forrest Gump once said - "Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." As you say, often the 'experience' is greater than the game itself - but that's a big part of loving a sport. Guess it makes you appreciate the good games more. Love your work. Cheers.
Great to meet u yesterday Great video even thought game was shite
A very interesting stadium that one,Sam.
If you want to visit the English equivalent of a stadium like that then I'd definitely recommend a trip to Bradford and visit Odsall Stadium, the home of Bradford Bulls Rugby League, they have a motor racing track around the outside too, looks far worse than Cowie's stadium too.
Gateshead Football Club had a race track, and that is believed to be one reason why the club was not re-elected. (The old ground has long since disappeared; the present Gateshead club plays at a different stadium.)
Were Bradford Bulls once Bradford Northern?
Interesting to see who the first team to bounce back is! Could be a while based on this vlog!
I remember the over-zealous Cowdenbeath security staff checking my fish and chips as I entered the ground a few years back on a bitterly cold winter's afternoon . By the way, I am the geezer who was just behind you at the Santa Clara game in Lisbon at the start of covid . Good health .
great vid, not afraid to call it drab!!
What camera and microphone do you use? It looks clean!
top lad keep them coming Sam.
The great Gerard Butler himself, once sang a song about Cowdenbeath.
'Awwww ya greedy wee shite' - pure poetry.
The only stadium in the world where the barbed wire is there to keep the fans in😁
For you mate, I'm go to do Albion Rovers Football Manager 24 when datebase comes out lol. Your making me fall in love with Albion Rovers.
Ross County is further north than Elgin. The mileage is more than your figure. Stranraer to Glasgow is 100 miles. Glasgow to Inverness is 180 miles via Perth, and a little less via Fort William. Elgin is another 30 miles. For this purpose, I am using public transport routes. One can, for instance, drive to Elgin direct from Aviemore.
Hey Sam, I have a video idea for you. There is a game on the 4th of November between Stranraer and Elgin in league two and is being played in Stranraer. I looked it up and in the top 4 divisions of Scotland these are most northern and most southern teams and have a distance of 323km between them as the crow flys. Not sure if it is too far for you to drive but just thought it sounded like an interesting video idea
I used to follow Albion Rovers when I was really young probably because at that time I was a West Brom fan (no idea why) and thought they might be connected 🤦♀️. Weird how the Scots league would rather play each other 4 times than expand the leagues, seems to me they have the teams and demand… 🤷♀️
The Blue Brazil, what a team!
I was the kid sitting in the jacket was gonna get a photo with u but was too shy 🤣
'Aw ye greedy wee shite!' 😆
One odd thing I keep meaning to find out - on the Lowland Table (that you're looking at 13:22) why is Albion Rovers a different colour? It was the same for Bo'ness last season.
This is the first time I have seen a football game video from this stadium. I normally watch the Stock car videos from Racewall.
Queen of the South would be an interesting video I think 😁😁
It´s like my mom when I ate all of the Christmas chocolates: "Oh yeah greedy wee shite!" 😂😂
'greedy wee sh*te' love it!
These old grounds are great very like when I visited Berwick.
Went there once to the stock car races when I was a child.
Maybe Cowdenbeath could increase attendances by staging games at the same time as the stock car racing 😁
What could possibly go wrong?
@@luxford60 Well, the snack bar could run out of pies
right in the infield of the track - watch someone yam right over the fence into car and watch the ball explode when it gets run over lol
Meanwhile we have clubs like psg mancity and newcastle.
Sorry you saw a goalless match😮
A £20 non league challenge this weekend is a suggestion from me 😊
Possibly get in 2 games for £20
@@GenialHarryGroutseen his other non league challenge videos?
@@BALHAM69 I have. The challenge here is maybe 3 games over a weekend for £20, not including petrol.
@@GenialHarryGrout makes sense
Love your videos, but let your interviewees speak man 😂 always talking over them
There is no such thing as a non league. Every team plays in a league, it might not be up to your standard but it is there league and if they win fair play to them.
Both Rovers games you've been to you've been a jinx 😂 knew this would be a boring 0-0 when I saw you were at the game
should show us some stock cars here too
what was the attendance, also as an arbroath fan ( i live in arbroath ) we hate cowdenbeath, due be being title rivals a good few years back, ( some )vile fans and a horrible town
The way he says new like is like an American
Martim neves PRESENTE
you seem to be on a run of watching "drab" games , could be the standard of fottball tbf
Which Scottish team do you dislike the most Sam ?
Celtic scoring more goals and losing less games than Rangers in 30-31 season an losing the league😬 2 pts a win still back then?
❤😊
I met you before
Both teams should have been relegated years for numbers times
Rangers B pulled out of that league.
These clubs contributed so little to league football, very few tears here
What would you like clubs of this size to do? Ten years ago Cowdenbeath were in the Championship drawing 0-0 with Rangers and eight years ago Albion Rovers won the League Two title. Hard times can befall any small club.
@@harrison6143 well not to be perennial whipping boys, east Stirling the same.
If they are good enough they will come back up if not they have probably found their level.
And clubs like Cove Rangers or Edinburgh City contribute more?
Cowdenbeath once went a whole season without winning a home game. Brechin City went a whole season without a single win. Raith Rovers also went through a whole season without a home win. No English club has suffered this fate.
@@dejankulusexy4472 maybe who knows

There was a bigger crowd on my wedding night than at this game*. At least I scored. Having completed the 92 I have started doing scottish grounds.
*Two!
Not a great expeience to watch the football though.
