Great exercise ideas and other options with the chairs. I have done the McKenzie exercise, it relieved a bit of my lower back, it returned. My pains are in my lower back and SI, S2, and S3, Piriformis, buttocks, both hips back and front. Back of my legs down my feet.. and left pinkie and groin pain. I think besides my lower back with the Sciatica pain, there's definitely something wrong with my SI Joints.. In PT they had me do the rubber ball between my thighs and squeeze and hold.. This exercise increased my pelvic pain, that lasted for days. Couldn't take it anymore and went to the ER.

Hi Bob & Brad, thank you so much for all you do! I have watched all your videos related to sciatica twice while I've been out of commission for a couple of months... I wish I had discovered you before I did the damage... I've had sciatica before so I did exercises that had previously worked for me... I was happy when the pain left my back, went to my thigh...then down my calf to my toes... I kept doing the exercices and really damaged my foot... eventually couldn't walk... foot was cold... it was bad...came across McKenzi method and stopped everything I had been doing... allowed my body to heal... pain and hypersensitivity in foot has significantly improved... traction helps, numbness in great toe subsides when I hang off counter 10 times per day... walking 3 times per day with no tingling or numbness in foot or toes during walk... and I feel pain in back which is good right..? on the right track.. here's the question: when I do the McKenzie method cobra push up, I can push myself all the way up, lock arms BUT when I do that I feel tingling in toes... should I push through or not..? I floss but it feels wierd so I only do it once or twice per week.. I'm 61, athletic, runner/ yoga practitioner so I typically push myself through discomfort... unsure if I should... that's what got me into this trouble... learning to surrender... Hi la divina, I had no choice but to surrender... the process of healing sometimes requires us to come to a complete stop... to go into the pain... sometimes pushing through cause me to injure myself again, so I learned everything I could about sciatica due to herniated discs vs periformis muscle... I had both... and learned to listen to my body... I'm 98%... still working on it...there are things that trigger set backs such as long drives... so I need to limit driving... hope this helps

I have been dealing with sciatic never pain going on 4 mo's. I have been doing all of these exercises & nothing is working. The constant pain in my lower back, buttocks, pelvis, & the pain in the front of lower leg & throbbing pain my ankle(left side) has started to wear me down even mentally. I take strong pain pills, muscle relaxers & nerve pain meds with little to no help. The pain is worse when lying down & I can only sit on the right side of my buttock. The stretching exercises are excruciating, but I try to do them daily even though my buttock _ thigh start to spas _ cramp. I've had multiple visits to the chiropractor, multiple steroid injections (get only 1 day of SOME relief) & the si joint injection provided absolutely no relief. I'm still doing the pool aerobics bc it's easier to exercise in water, but will stop as the pain is still debilitating especially when waking in the morning which is usually any where from 2 to 4a.m. as I can NOT find any position comfortable enough to lay down. My pelvic bone hurts so bad that tears literally run down my face. Just sitting on the toilet & Even coughing is so painful. I can't sleep but 2-4 hrs bc the pain is so bad. I'm exhausted & frustrated.

When I was 23 I Was in a near fatal car accident in July 2021 ended up getting a T3-T4 Herniation L4-S1 disc Herniation. After getting released form ER I went to the hospitals (recommended) orthopedic Surgeon. He threw me a packet and said surgery. I asked about other treatments he said that’s all he recommended. My lawyer referred me to a physical therapist based off my insurance. Started going to HESS Spinal for 18 weeks (Bi-Weekly) told my PT what the surgeon said and after seeing my X-rays he laughed and called him money hungry. Told me to start watching Bob & Brad on my free time while I was attending treatment and ended being the best thing ever. A year later my new X ray showed one of my disc completely re- absorbed itself back into place. I call or text My PT once in awhile and he tells me the same 3 things stretch, walk and take it slow. I’m 25 now and feel great. Lost 30 pounds quite active now boxing and playing tennis. A better bull in the bedroom. Only time I feel any discomfort is when I sit too long or improperly in whole that squeezes my back as I’m a software developer. Thus putting pressure on that one little spot then it’s micro tingles throughout for 30 minutes or less. But as soon as I do one of these exercises. ( especially the door hang) I feel great and back to normal. Thanks bob and brad🙏

@@satishchodankar5676 I am 63 now. I was about 53 when all this happened. My chiropractor was about to send me for surgery. I didn't want to go that route. It was serious, I couldn't sit or lay down. I got a rash all over my legs from over the counter pain meds. Even my massage therapist thought I would need surgery. I feel the final healing took place because my massage therapist knew how to do a treatment with hot rocks and tone. She also specialized in alignment. I remember going home from her in pain. That night as I laid in bed I felt my back moving, several pieces moved. When I went back for the next check, I was improving. Each chiropractor I had, had a different approach, and those treatments, which included stretching my torso on a table and the other chiropractor rolled my leg on a wheel because it has tightened up like a rock...all helped. My massage therapist gave me alot of support, too. I needed all three to recover. I did not start sitting on a couch or chair until 2016..fall.

    My MRI report says-
    1. Lumbarspondylosis.
    2. Diffuse disc bulge at L4-L5 level
    3. Posterocentral disc protrusion with posterior annular tear at L5-S1 level.
One Dr told me that i have fucked up my back doing all the crazy stuff at the gym and another told me that it's nothing to worry about, MRI is an intensive test and it may find minute details/findings from ur body that has nothing to do with ur pain. So he basically said, no one can expect to have perfect lumbar disc as all our lives we put so much pressure on our spine.
But guys, i have been feeling pain only in my lower back region, it doesn't go to my hips, not even to my legs.
I can run for 5kms and I don't feel anything. But when it comes to sitting, or doing things while sitting, it bothers me a lot.
I mean this is a pain that don't stop me from doing anything, i can still lift weights but i just don't feel comfortable enough. I mean that mindset of feeling 100% fine is not there with me anymore. I feel tight, a strange kind of stiffness, hell i can't even express in words. The focal point is something near sacrum/tailbone area. Can someone help or even relate?

I can totally relate. I have same problems with same symptoms. As a frequent gym goer too, I can understand how it feels to not be able to perform 100 percent like before. I hope that if we give time to ourselves the pain will eventually go away. Best of luck to all of us suffering!!

I have a broad based protrusion on LT lateral disc between L5-S1. Also DDD @42 yrs old. Sciatica is on my left leg for 2 months and no pain on my lower back except for when I do the McKenzie method but very rarely. The pain originally started on the lower back was there for 1 week went away started again and was there there for 3 weeks. Didn't figure out that the reason wasn't really from vacuuming or trying to clean the toilet but from sitting in the car for 3 hours each time prior to doing these things. Also standing for 2 long can cause sciatica as well. Who would of thought this. Pain doesn't always come from injury or old age and disease. Tried Gabapentin it does not work and withdrawal was a little scary. Some people like can't take anti-inflammatory meds. I tried stretching before watching Bob and brad and it spread the Pain from my thigh further down to my foot even though I didn't feel pain while doing it. Please don't try to touched your toe when you have sciatica. This has been the most depressing time of my life. I have 2 young kids to take care of and during covid times. Any one living in Virginia with a successful treatment to sciatica please respond. Doesn't matter what kind of treatment. Thanks.

This pretty much describes what I'm dealing with. Been quite bad for last few years. I'm almost 35 been bed ridden for year and a half because something in my lower back messed up and I lost all motion down my back and leg with excruciating pain. After month after month went by with constant pain I literally thought I might not walk normal by myself again. I thought my body was giving up on me, think your dying or something it was so bad and pain unbearable straight for year. Suck because if wasn't for having a terrible lower back I'd feel relatively great. After nearly year I started to be able to walk and bend over a bit in less pain. Only thing seem to work was laying in bed.

My joint pain in that L5/Sacrum does not involve the nerve (thankfully!). I don't have shooting pains/numbness/tingling or cold water feeling, just very sore after walks or standing too long. I'll sit (like driving home after a hike) for relief and then when I stand up again . OUCH!!! . ... It is relieved with hot pack and/or ibuprofen. Can you have a L5/S1bulging disc causing pain after exertion but that doesn't trigger the sciatic nerve??

Bob , Brad. Thank you for these videos! My daughter (in her early 20s) has had a pain in the buttocks (central buttock) for several years. She has had x-rays , gone to a chiropractor, and done manual work from physical therapy.Recently a doctor requested 4 MRIs, of both hips, pelvis and coccyx… and the only thing that came out weird was L-5, S1 bulge … her pain is not down her leg . Are these exercises helpful if the pain is in the coccyx area? Her pain only happens when she tries to run more than 8 to 10 minutes. The pain calms down when she doesn’t run, but the fact that she can’t do much aerobic stuff that is normal for peers of her age is really affecting her .

Hey B&B, thanks for your videos! I've been doing that hanging thing from the top of my interior door frames. But when I do it, my wrists hurt. Should I do something to support my wrists before or during? Also, a couple of suggestions. Wear a colored shirt (not white) if you are demonstrating against a white background. Personally, I prefer your videos filmed in your exam room rather than that boring white room.
