- Part 7 of my series dedicated to showing Steve's parts on the In The Round concert release from the Hysteria tour. Not much has changed here from the way I play it although I try to play a little more loose on one of the pre chorus sections as it was evident Steve was doing that when I was watching the In The Round performance. Also again tried to replicate whammy usage and fingerings, especially on the lead work.
For any new subscribers I have gained in the last couple of years, I used to mainly upload Def Leppard content. From 2011 - 2017, I uploaded covers of pretty much the whole main discography, minus the Yeah! album and a couple of acoustic tracks (You can find here - ruclips.net/user/pl.... Looking back, naturally I think every video can be improved on, especially video quality wise. I always find I hear new things over time too and start realising that certain parts can be played differently and maybe more accurately. So I always like the opportunity to correct anything from a video that is numerous years old. Plus, I really love playing this stuff and Steve is one of, if not, my favourite guitarist.
This series will be in addition to my regular uploading too, so if you never enjoyed my Def Leppard stuff, just hang about a couple more days, cheers!
You can check out the rest of this series here - • Steve Clark - Live 'In...
I use a Charvel DK24 (it's purple) into a Boss Me50 into a Palmer Pdi-09 into a Focusrite Scarlett into my computer running Logic Pro X.

My headphones are purposely like that so the cable stays out the way.
I have a Patreon where I upload my notation notes for all my new covers and I am going through my old ones too. But I also provide custom notation and video lessons content there or at my bwmguitarlessons@gmail.com address. Please get in touch if you want help playing the music you love. / bwm5150

You are pretty much the ONLY person on RUclips doing note-for-note covers of these songs. Killer performance, as always!
Steve Clark was an underrated bad ass on guitar. You honor his memory playing his part so well.
This takes me back to my youth. I was visiting relatives away from home. I met this girl who was a year older and she also loved def leppard. We sat the entire night in the backseat of my now deceased uncles jeep and talked, listening to leppard songs, including this. And kissed. That became a crush for the ages. And when i went home, i learned how to play the riff to impress her the next time we met. Unfortunately, i never saw her again. Man, how time flies.
Fantastic!!!! Steve would be very proud!! I think everyone will agree that ITR is probably the best concert ever recorded. 🤘
Thanks Todd!
You got that right! Best tour ever! Best band ever! Cheers!
I 100% agree with that, it’s my absolute favourite
Ahhhh that intro, One of Steve's best "guitar parts" he ever created and played. Nice touch on it man.
You nailed it brother!
This is without doubt one of the best rock songs ever.
It's a masterpiece. 🤟
The relevance of this song is timeless...I didn't quite grasp that when it came out. You nail this one...Steamin Steve would definitely tip his captains hat to ya 👍💪🍻
Well done! Songs like this one gave hints to some "prog'ish" tendencies in Def Leppard back then. It makes me wonder how the band's songs would have evolved had Steve lived...
They absolutely wouldn't had gone as bubblegum pop as they did....that's for sure. The real Def Leppard died with Steve Clark
@@kenridzyowski3134 no mate. You just lost faith. They have evolved with the times and survived when nearly every other 80s act have disappeared. Some stuff wasn't the best, but Euphoria and 'Def Leppard' were some of their very best work. Sorry you never got that.
@@MasterDownUnder I whole-heartily disagree. They're sellouts now, in the era following Steve's passing.
@@kenridzyowski3134 totally agree. I have a hard time listening to anything they did after Adrenalize.
@@MasterDownUnder Also...their best work was Pyromania it was their masterpiece...Hysteria was over-produced...and the first two were the best of the era. The Zeppelin/ACDC influences
GOW ITR ! One of the best live tracks out there. Ben always nails it ! Love it ! ❤️🇺🇸
Awesome ! I love your tone !
This song is a masterpiece that is absolutely criminally underrated
Awesome job Ben!! You have done Steve proud.
Very kind Robbie, thanks!
this one, behind DHTH is the one i’ve been waiting for, amazing!
Awesome job my friend! You are showing the world why Steve should be remembered and even studied - the man was a true guitar god!
Eccezionale!
Italian Def Leppard fan here.
I saw many of your videos.
And you are a great guitarrist.
Fore sure Steve and every Leppard lover,is proud of your work.
👏👏😗
Thanks from Scotland!
👏👏👏 Yesssssssss Ben that was amazing work 👍🎸🎧 so excited to hear what's next and yes the stars are in my eyes 🤩 your journey fan always 🌹
Fantastic!
Just reading your notes in the comments above.... you can keep playing and re-doing Steve Clark stuff until the cows come home for me. You are the one guy on YT that plays his works most accurately and this is important to me. Thanks again Ben.
Wow!! 💪🤘🤘🤘Always Amazing 🔥🤙
Steve Clark had a swashbuckling style of guitar all his own. Chunky at times but so sly as well and he could pivot on a dime. But so disciplined as well within the measure and context of the song. You can feel him coaxing the drummer and bass along at times. Astonishing, what a natural.
If I close my eyes, I can see Steve 👌 Merci 1000fois
I learned how to play every song on the in the round concert cause of you and I'm only 12. I play along to the full concert every night. Love your vids
Awesome as usual, 🎸 🍻😎
As a huge fan of Def Leppard and also the closest to the real thing I could listen and watch you play their songs all day long. Keep on rocking
I will forever watch anything leppard you do. You simply put every other cover of them to shame. My fav clark tune, Spot on brother!! Till next time!! And there will be a next time!!
Great playing man. Keep rocking! Greetings from Poland👍🎸🎶🇵🇱
Superbe. C'est un de mes préférés du groupe.
Bravo !
What's that? Ben posted a new video?Immediate 👍
Did I watch/listen yet? Nope.
My only concern is that after seeing it's another live Steve Clark cover from the Hysteria tour I can only like it once.
Haha, cheers Damon!
From someone who saw Steve live….. you nailed it. I swear I have not seen a better tone on this song since i saw Steve play it himself. Thank you
Very kind, Steve is my greatest influence 😁
Yesssss!
Everyone talks about how awesome the intro riff is, and it is great, but it’s the outro riff that has always made this my favorite DL song.
Awesome 👌🤘🤘
This is just getting better! Love it!!
and here i thought i was playing my favorite song from my favorite guitarist correctly.. until now. i will spam watch this until i get it note for note. you are amazing man!!
Absolutely love the one thumbs down!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I mean can you do any better you jealous troll?
Keep em coming mate, your unmatched!
✌️😎
Excellent! Such a great DL song and the live version is the only way to give it the credit it deserves. That intro riff is legend!
Really like playing to your live covers, feels like I’m there 😅🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sounded fine to me.brought back memories, cheers
Well done!
You are a very talented guitar player. Amazing job on def leppard cover of God's of War. Awesome.
Goosebumps
Awesome as usual Ben 😁👍🎸👏👏
Great job. Thanks for sharing !!!
Another awesome video. You are extremely talented my friend.
Great playing, awesome tone, perfect mix!
so far you are the only RUclipsr I know who cover DL songs perfectly, , as always amazing cover mate 👍👍
Another fantastic version Ben, tone is brilliant 👍
Damn bro, absolutely amazing to listen to. Love your work man!!!
Brilliant, as always, man! I swear, you're the closest thing that we have to Mr. Stephen Clark these days. The sound, tone, hitting those strings. Nothing but love, brother. Keep rockin'!
But it's true. Every time I click on your Def Lep videos, I watch in amazement at your talent, but also Steve's. It's incredible the impact he had on people and I wish he didn't have the demons/thoughts inside. Also, I like the necklace, dude! Very cool.
Wicked!! Wish I could play like you. So fluent and great grooves
Wow that’s awesome!
Sounds like it was in Sydney Australia what a show that was loved how low hes guitars sat all solid body axes heavy as im sure especially with the running around the stage top job
Great song and great cover!🤘
So melodic. Great job Ben!
Great Great Great as always, my friend...
You did an Awesome job! 👏 🙌! Everything song 🎵 you play is awesome!! You can do no wrong.
Wow! You are a truly gifted musician. 💜
Another stellar cover! Thank you!
Bamneeee.. Absolutely love this. Thank you so much for what you do Ben🤘🏼🔥🎸
Beau Charvel, Gods of War my favorite!!
This is a very good guitar cover
Amazing as always. Steve is cheering in rock heaven!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dude seriously I get to where I just want to listen to you because I can fully hear Steve’s parts and they are just so freaking awesome!!! I think he’d be pretty dang proud of you!!! Nailing them all!!!
Very kind, thank you! Steve was a big part of me wanting to learn music and I still find I’m picking up new things from him today.
Really nice cover! I really like that you are revisiting the Live in the round stuff and focusing more on what Steve is playing. I really like the run that he is doing on the solo of Women, it is so amazing! Each time I am watching Steve playing live it is cheering and boosting me up haha.
Extremely WELL DONE Sir!
The absolute best cover on YT. Nobody even comes close bro. Nailed it note for note. Timing and tone spot on. Don’t ever stop! 5️⃣1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ =\//-/=🤘👍
Awesome channel! You are a great guitarist and do these songs great justice and love your guitar tones and guitars! Thank you for doing a great tribute to anything Regarding Steve Clark of Def Leppard!
Awesome one of my favorite Def Lep songs of all time. You nailed it as always. That Charvel looks and sounds sooo good. Thanks as always for sharing your skills. Amazing
love it! 🤘
Clean. Nice job
That outro is my favourite of all Def Leppard's outros.
Dude, diggin the necklace with the pick. I just saw it.
Aah, the solo section!!!! The moment when steve some in, low strapped Gibson with Kahler towards the camera, plays the solo (high boots designed by Lorelei, I guess) with a loose tremolo arm that keeps dropping off, and he keeps wanking it again and again. I have seen those videos long enough to remember them in my dreams. I would ask you to do DONT SHOOT SHOTGUN (not the live one as it was bloody sped up), the album version of just steve. I know that it is a multilayered classic and difficult to identify the parts, but just steve alone on that song would be fantastic. If there is anyone, only you can do it, mate.
Dude! You CAN and WOULD cover every song, amazingly! Man. C'mon. :)
И здесь этот потрясающий звук!! Превосходно!!
Love this! Have you explored any Mark Kendall of Great White? He and Steve Clark are two of my faves.
Will hopefully get to them soon, thanks!
I finally figured out your secret as to why you nail Steve's parts. After hysteria you got personal lessons from white lightning. That's why the delay with adrenalize.
Wasn’t born until ‘91 mate 😅
You are seriously good.
Fcking amazing
You are the best
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Crack!!!..congratulations..
sick to see you play ... it's seems so easy loll
i hope one day i will play part of phil and u cover the steve part ... hehehe .. greeting from malaysia dude ...
Thanks from Scotland
That is so cool my friend good work , hey I know u have probably seen my cover of it to on guitar , bc listen I was trying to get the hang of that intro ( Solo ) that Steve Clark is doing on " Live in the round " right before the actual song begins I was wondering I mite need some help so I was wondering if u could kindly possibly make another video as well if this song & do that Steve Solo there Please if you will 😊 my friend I'm curious how he's actually playing it ?!!
I covered that here - ruclips.net/video/5VuM_FgkvVc/видео.html Cheers 👍
@@bwm5150 Oh Wow Thanks Brother
Epic cover as always Ben’s it’s like spirt of Steve is playing 🙂 I’ve got a Palmer like yours do you know how I can connect between my GT-1 pedal board and my peavey bandit?
Thanks Michael! A couple of options there. In a live or recording setting you would go from tho Boss to the Palmer and then from the Thru connection to your amp. The main OUT of the Palmer would then feed the mixing desk and you could blend that with the amp mic’d up. Or you could try getting an XLR adapter so you can connect from the main OUT of your Palmer into the input of your amp and just use the clean amp to hear the Palmer sound through it.
@@bwm5150 Hi Ben cheers for the information I’ll give it a go 🙂
Great channel and great playing dude. Im a huge Def Leppard fan and its great to see a lot of them on your channel. Extra great to see someone playing Steve Clark's parts. He is one of most underrated guitarists of all time. His unorthodox playing and riff creation was awesome. I love his tone too. I saw them live 4 times after Steve's death but I would give anythng to see him playing live like the in the round tour. Keep it up. By the way. Did it take you a long time to get as good as you are at Steve's parts?
Very kind, thanks! From 2011-2017 I covered the whole main Leppard discography and since then I've been doing specific live vids focusing on Steve, Phil and even Viv. Steve stuff isn't necessarily technically hard, but hard to find the exact way he plays stuff.
my favorite part is 0:00 - 5:41
G☀D's ☀F WAR♥
God I miss steve
U shred mang
Incredible guitar playing. Especially inspiring from 4:30. Hate that the Ronald Reagan part was removed..
You have too be Steve Clarks Twin brother I know Steve's smiling down from heaven saying that guy plays just like me
Did I come back for the playing or the tone...that's the question.
How does one replicate that leppard tone??
I made a stream last year on my set up going over how to achieve something similar.
I'll have to look it up. And start learning some leppard stuff. Nowhere near as skilled as you are. I learned switch 625 except main solo, and working on foolin now. Gods of war and Billy's got a gun I have to learn. My fav 2 songs
Now, remembering that Steve changed guitars between his solo and Gods...
can you do a steve stevens from billly idol's whiplash smile 1986 - any song - (in my opinion Idol`s best and unmatched by himself)? pretty please, please. please...
Do you go back and forth from the Jackson and charvel based on different tuning ? Do you have specific guitars for certain tuning ?
They’re both in standard but this Charvel has coil splitting which is what Steve had on his guitars so I feel it could get closer to his tone. Although I didn’t use any on that on here.
Didn't Steve come up with most off the guitar parts for God of War it's my 3rd favorite song on the album
He did, on this video I’m playing the parts he would do live.
Again my hats off too you your a very talented young man
