I covered Chicago's 'Hard Habit to Break' a couple of days ago but it got blocked worldwide. That happened to my Cyndi Lauper cover but the block was eventually lifted so hopefully with a bit of time it'll be public. Anyway, on this cover I tried to follow how Phil played from a number of Hysteria bootleg shows. I suspect the In The Round performance has a couple of overdubs as the pre chorus part he plays is not like Mountain View or other bootlegs. He seems to follow how he sings on that part rather than what's on the album. I also don't do my 'pinch-harmonics-to-simulate-feedback' like I did on my original cover from 2012-ish, to again be more accurate to Phil's actual performance. :) Notation notes available here - www.patreon.com/posts/def-leppard-phil-87808255 :)
Def Leppard is coming to Japan for a concert in the autumn🎉🇯🇵 Also MOTLEY CRUE. Their tickets are insanely expensive.😮 Thank you for always covering a lot of famous songs😊
Hey Ben!!! I just noticed in this video that nuptial congratulations are in order!!! Don’t know how long overdue this is, but Congrats, Man!!!! Keep on rockin’!
Take me back to Tesla opening...Clint Eastwood curtain drop...return of the Thunder God...and Steve with the 🚬 and the LP slung low...he was a Golden God 🤘🤘🤘
Brilliant! Love when I see a guitarist play so well it inspires me to grab my axe and sit down to learn something new. Love the vid! Those harmonics are world class
Wow, just spot on perfect playing, Ben! And your TONE, is just a pure match. Would love to know how u dial in these tones so closely and what u are using….brilliantly matched!
Hey bwm5150 I’m following your settings on how to get a Def Leppard tone and I’m curious how you would eq your guitar I’m using the boss tone studio and I’m really close to nailing that tone but I just need help with eq also great cover
There’s no specific EQ to get the tone as it’s all about sculpting around the other elements. Just take out needless bass frequencies, push a little highs and duck out a little in the mids where the vocals sit. See what sounds good to you.
Haven't seen all your videos probably, but you are to give Ozzy a shot. Mr.Crowley, Crazy Train, Flying High Again, Revelation Mother Earth, Bark At The Moon. Randy Rhoads was amazing and Jake E Lee. But your Def Leppard is amazing. So yeah! I'd love to hear Ozzy, Dokken, White Lion, VanHalen Also look up Savatage with Hall Of The Mountain King, Strange Wings, Summer's Rain. I think you would love Criss Oliva's playing.
Great playing as always. What kind of pick do you use? You have a relaxed kind of arched way of holding it. I could be wrong, but you seem to hold between your thumb and both your middle and index fingers. Even when picking.
Thanks! I use a metal pick but I play very lightly, and I feel it glides over the strings. My middle finger sometimes sits on top of my index finger, but I don’t think it touches the pick.
I got a Def Leppard pick many years ago and then when I started gigging I bought a bunch of blank ones off eBay that were the same thickness. Think it’s .5mm
Everything in standard on this tour, and on every tour before. On Adrenalize tour they tuned down for Love Bites, Hysteria and Have You Ever, then I think everything was tuned down from Slang tour onwards.
@bwm5150 I've been playing these songs for yrs, live in the round was their best concert, I seen them when tesla opened for them. And again when L.A. Gunns opened, most of the parts played on a lot of their hysteria materials are fairly simple, they're small parts but some of them you couldn't hear on their album, I still sit down and jam to their live in the round, Phil uses that sustainiac on Animal for his lead, instead of trying to get that artificial harmonic at the end of his lead with the pitch dive,
@bwm5150 no not on the hysteria tour he didn't. But now yes he does, most of his tones are from using the DiMarzio super distortion pickups, he's a big fan of those,
Phils high pitch pinch harmonic is epic in the live track
Steve Clarke and Phil Collen were just the perfect rock duo during the 80's. They complimented each others style really well.
The good ole days. Perfect playing.
Cheers Blaine!
😊 2:27 The solo gets me every time, you totally nailed it. Goosebumps.

Try an Eagle's song. That jack nut Don Henley and his lawyers are complete scumbags.
I covered Don’s Boys of Summer and that got blocked everywhere except the USA. Quite surprised that wasn’t worldwide blocked.
@@bwm5150 I wonder if the involvement of Mike Campbell had anything to do with that?
🤩 Yeeeeeees Ben 🎸🎧 I am here for this life concert sounds amazing 👍 cheers 🥂 your journey fan always 🎶🎶🤩

Great news! Yes it’s a little expensive, but most shows are nowadays 😢
money, money, money...Business before r'n'r 🙈😬
You nailed that solo really well! Keep doing what you're doing friend
Hey Ben!!! I just noticed in this video that nuptial congratulations are in order!!! Don’t know how long overdue this is, but Congrats, Man!!!! Keep on rockin’!
Great cover, Ben. Nailed it as per.
I'd give anything to go back in time and attend the concerts on this tour.
Thanks mate!
Love all your videos!
Thanks Mark!
Perfect, as usual. 👏👏I saw Def Leppard back in June at Hanover and they totally rocked. I loved every minute of that concert!
Great cover Ben
Absolutely brilliant
Perfect as usual Ben. Can’t wait to see the rest of the Phil in the round series. I’m really looking forward to it
Cheers Luke!
you rock! OMG i love!!! Joe and the gang need you playing with them!!
Love the effects the Phil uses and live. It brings out all the harmonics and pinch harmonics, which sounds great. Keep up the great covers
Great playing.
Phil Collen is so underrated. A really, really good guitarist.
Yes! Such a joyful song.
Any thoughts to a split screen with both parts? Not even sure how difficult that would be. But it would be kick ass!
I’ve thought about it but I don’t think I’ll be doing it, or at least attempting it, until I’ve finished this series.
Great Job Buddy nailed it on another Def Leppard Classic keep rockin out 🤘
Awesome Cover, I really enjoyed it, thanks for sharing 👏
Love your Def Leppard stuff! Thanks!

Your covers are my favorite on youtube.
Incredibly kind, thank you!
You are awesome and watching you play has helped me so much learning some of my favorite bands
Always top notch!
Now imagine singing all those tracks and playing this at the same time super talented band
Super fun to. :)
Bloody brilliant that was! Effortless talent on display. Thank you for the upload…new sub 🤙🇨🇦
Back when Phil didn’t over do the parts with the Whammy Bar and ruin the song, well played
Amazing 😍😍. As usual you nailed it, you ALWAYS put a smile on my face when you do my favorite band of all time, Def Leppard.
Dude, you’re insane!
Man your content is great
🤘🤘🤘 killer cover! Fan since 2018! Have you done or could you do: My prerogative by Bobby Brown????
My favorite song of theirs! Great job!
flawless cover dude
Hey man could you do “what about love” by heart! Would suit your style so much I think!
Great stuff. Love live in the round
So great!! Will you post notation for this one as well??
Sure will! 😁
All your content is great Ben, but I love your Def Leppard stuff the most!❤
Always the most fun to play! Cheers 😁
Great as always man.
Thanks Tyler!
Always love your cover, just astonishing!! Btw how’s that Jackson licensed tremolo on your guitar? Is it still good compare to frs 1000 series?
Thanks! My licensed one feels smoother than the original Floyd on my Charvel.
Wow, just spot on perfect playing, Ben! And your TONE, is just a pure match. Would love to know how u dial in these tones so closely and what u are using….brilliantly matched!
Thanks Tom! I always list my gear in the description and a couple of years ago I did a live stream about achieving a similar tone.

As good as Phil Collen 🤘🏼
SO FREAKING AWESOME !
🤘😁🤟😎🤯😮🤗🎸💯🆒
What gauge strings are you using?
I think i don't have to mention that you're amazing... that's obvious 😅
Very kind, thanks! I'm now using 9.5s.
Sublime! 🤘

I’m not a guitar player, so I hope this doesn’t sound crazy, but are most of their songs in standard tuning for this concert?
Everything in standard on this tour, and on every tour before. On Adrenalize tour they tuned down for Love Bites, Hysteria and Have You Ever, then I think everything was tuned down from Slang tour onwards.
@@bwm5150 Is this because Joe couldn't hit the notes needed?
@@tigershoot Made it easier for Joe and the whole band on the backing vocals too.
Hey man, do one of the songs from Fee Waybill of The Tubes' solo album. A treasure trove of polished 80s AOR by the big session musicians.

Dont like this live version too fast im going back to original
Dude you start playing the beginning, and just stop after the intro, wtf?
...Disappointed...
Yeah, as Phil does. I’m following his parts for this concert series. I did Steve’s parts last year which fill in the rest.
