- A couple of 1972 skits. The first features George Kirby and Marilyn Michaels as Archie and Edith Bunker from the sitcom All In the Family. The second is a Honeymooners sendup with George Kirby and Marilyn Michaels as Ralph and Alice Kramden, with Rich Little playing the part of Ed Norton.
George Kirby (1923-1995) was a multi-talented actor, impressionist, singer and musician whose career was unfortunately hampered by drug problems. Considering the extent of his talents and the wide variety of TV appearances he made it's surprising there are so few RUclips videos of him performing. Particularly powerful among those videos that are present is his 1983 recitation of his poem "King Heroin," which he'd written under the pseudonym Manny Rosen for the 1972 (the same year as these videos) James Brown song of the same "King Heroin" name. See Kirby recite it here on Tony Brown's Journal: • Video It's a subject Kirby knew all too well.
OMG his impression of Archie Bunker is spot on perfect! This guy was absolutely brilliant!
Rip George Kirby yoUr live sparked a revolUtion ✊🏾
George Kirby was on TV a lot in the late 60's and early 70's. He could do it all. Do impressions, sing, dance, even played the piano. RIP.
He was so underrated
Wow George Kirby imitation of Ralph is down to a tee I hope their are more Performances
I swear to God. Close your eyes and listen and ther'e all spot on. and with them open too
I saw this when I was a kid... I'll never forget it.
I just learned of this gentleman and OMG did he nail it !! rest his soul, The Honeymooners skit was on point too.
George Kirby and Marilyn Michaels AND Rich Little. This is the impression olympics!
Thanks for the post...
2 of the best... George Kirby especially also Marilyn Michaels were such underrated impressionists and entertainers. Loved Kopykats show. They used to have a lot more freedom in comedy.
(Who started this "politically correct" BS)?!
Also watch Dean Martin Roasts. They were sooo Funny.
I loved the Kopykats and the Dean Martin Celebraty roasts.
Thanks to Nancy Pelosi, for introducing a whole new generation to George Kirby
Exactly!!!!👍
I'm genuinely thankful to her for this.
Can we keep politics out of everything! We get it, we get it, you MAGA trump butt kisser! You're mad the orange guy lost 2020 election!
Real because not only did I get to know the actor side of him but also the spiritual and comedian side of him too in The Temptations show and that reminded me so much of a church choir girl since a little girl to present legacy I have and also you know on top of helping and inspiring others comforting them and making them happy and leadership and excellence legacy since 14 😊
Defund Police. George Kirby will always be remembered.
RIP George Kirby!
I’m so pissed such a talented actor was taken from us! I just found out about this dude and I’m already a fan. Amazing talent right here.
Sunny - Very very funny. That Nancy is brilliant
He was one of the regular greats in the Catskills when the Borscht Belt still existed. I think he appeared at the Concord and at Grossinger's.
Its nice to see such rare footage of the golden days of comedy and both Mr.Kirby and Ms.Michaels really worked great together
I had forgotten how talented George Kirby was.and how good television could be before today's awful reality shows and juvenile sitcoms.
Wow! He sounds just like Ralph! And, his Archie was great, too! When he said, "A bunch of spades living next door?!", I lost it! LOL!
Somebody would be complaining if he said "spades", now! The show would be off the air!
His voice is amazing
His Archie Bunker impression is so spot on.it's incredible.
The Norton imitation was the best I had ever seen.
I thought the actor pretending to be Art Carney as Ed Norton looked familiar to me. Then I read the description for this video and found out it was Rich Little.

GEORGE YOU ARE STILL THE BEST IN MY BOOK.. RIP
These Impressions are SPOT-ON! I do believe that that is actually Sheila McCrae doing her Alice.
That was Sheila and she did play Alice in the 1960's Miami-based Honeymooner which were as I recall musical as well.
Absolutely Sheila McRae!! I had forgotten how great George Kirby was. What a talent!
George Kirby was like the Jimi Hendrix of impressionist. No black or white,....just color blind, original talent.
STFU..........it's not for you,to try and color blind'ize a world,that isn't color blind. it's not your call,pale face.
@@brainsareus
What are you ranting about? He's just trying to say that race, color, religion, nationality, etc, doesn't matter, that we all have talent in one way or another, regardless of who we are, and that talent is talent. Is that so wrong? Of course not!
So, stop being such a sensitive little "snowflake," as they say nowadays! By the way, calling a white person a "paleface" is just as bad as calling a Native American a "redskin" or a "savage."
THANKS NANCY!!
agree , george kirby was great !
This is GREAT! The 'official' title of this series is "The ABC Comedy Hour Presents The Kopycats". Ran during the summer of 1972. Six episodes--I saw them ALL. It was co-produced by ITV out of the UK. Had George Kirby, Marilyn Michaels, Frank Gorshin (who did a great Dr. Frankenstein) Fred Travelena (sp) Rich Little and Joe Baker.
This guy is amazing, why have I never heard of him?
Because,he's been dead for a long time, and sadly struggled with drug addiction problems.
Hah I'm asking the same thing! He apparently had lots of drug use, and I guess his shows weren't popular?
I was not aware of the Kopykats until now. I would have been 9 years old at the time. I liked George Kirby alot and wished I could have met him. Seemed like alot of fun.
George kirby, great voice and talent
Pelosi sent me here.
Okay so where's the booze and ice cream?
THANK YOU SO MUCH I BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER FOR GEORGE KIRBY VIDEOS
George Kirby is very underrated as an impressionist.
I'd almost forgotten how brilliant he was and how much better prime-time comedy was, as well.
How many people came here searching after Nancy Pelosi and Chucky Schumer mistook George Kirby for George Floyd?
Chucky said "Floyd Taylor." The actor who had an uncredited role in the film "Peggy" from 1950 as Newsboy. ruclips.net/video/M7rpKFjZ08Y/видео.html
Nancy Pelosi thinks they look alike.
Well, to them..They all look the same
Me too movement!
@@kalament1969 Just think if a Republican said that
JUST finished watching "Gimmie A Break", googled him..this guy was fantastic!! Archie Bunker impression is whoa! 😊❤
Wait! Was that the episode where he stood behind Nell and said, "My, my, look at that spread!" ? I've been looking for it! What was the name of it!?
This would be from a short lived tv series called "The Kopy Kats" aired in 1972 on ABC and starred Kirby,Michaels,Rich Little, Frank Gorshin, Charlie Callas, Joe Baker and Fred Travalena.Needless to say,but this show had the who's who of impressionists, would love to find complete episodes of this series somewhere out in far reaches of the internet, great stuff.
Don Willhite,Jr Steve Martin was in it too. They ran 22 episodes of this
Greatest day impressionist ever .RIP
Actually, that is the best Archie Bunker impression I've seen. Nice.
I remember the Kopy Kats and I remember Kirby as Bunker encountered Robert Young. He did a great job as Louis Armstrong.
Wow Kirby was a BEAST ! What a master at his craft
nobody has the rib ticklers like george. you can look at himnd start laughing. hes great. rip
One of the best impressionists of all time. Perfect nuances and cadence!
Marilyn was such a cutie
That is Sheila McRae in the second sketch. It's from an earlier, US produced "Kopycats" special made before Lew Grade bought the format.
Kopycats. Fred McMurray sneezing.
The Norton was surprisingly good....the Archie was spot on, Gleason good. 😮
Spot on impression😮😮😮😮
George Kirby had his act down pact. Funny man!
George Kirby amazing !
Now this was comedy. Just WONDERFUL.
Great video!
That was fun.
@Blackjesus3 That was very good work they did
The are great!
I remember "The Kopy Kats" !! I remember George Kirby and Rich Little in a sketch--Rich doing a Humphrey Bogart/Sam Spade impression--with George as "The Fat Man/Kasper Gutman/Sydney Greenstreet"-- telling George emphatically and at length how he/Sam Spade solved the crime. As Sam drones on, George yawns in boredom.
He used to be on A lot of shows Jackie Gleason show for one .
Reminds me of In Living Color's All Up In The Family.
This was many years earlier, though.
I thought the Archie Bunker was spot on, but Edith, not at all like her.
It sounded like Edith to me.
Marilyn Michaels
I think this is from The Rich Little Show!
Kopykats
are you sure it isn't sheila macrea reprising her role as alice in the 2nd skit? she also did imitations and if it was indeed marilyn michaels that was one heck of a makeup job and movement.
bigred997 ya know I 'm still not certain that's not sheila McRae. Wow, what a great job.
@riquettic VERY TRUE
@Terryfan yes they sure did
I really like Rich Little's impression of Ed Norton, but the others not so much.
THERES NO COLOR LINE IN SPORTS!! GET OFF YOUR KNEES AND PLAY THE GAME!- PELOSI/KIRBY 2020
So this is who Nancy Pelosi was talking about. 2020 is a hell of a year.
George Kirby was great as Archie and Ralph.Marilyn Michaels wasnt good portraying Edith.Edith would smile while talking to Archie.Marilyn didnt smile once here.
Kirby's Archie was better than his Ralph...actually Rich Little could do both Gleason and Art Carney pretty good
Kinda goofy...
if he played for the LARams, why would he move to Queens NY[where AITF was set]? and, next to no one; made killer $$ in the NFL in the early 70's. It's just a skit, I know. I like it, btw.
brainsareus Maybe it's his off-season home?
Wow man, loosen up. Life's too short 😅
