Of course there are comedians who do some impressions but not many comedians the do nothing but impressions like Rich Little. We forget that Frank Gorshin was a comic and impressionist. Probably best remembered as The Riddler on Batman and for us Trek Heads, Commissioner Bele in the 3rd season episode, "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield".

being blacklisted by Carson in 1982 just meant that he wouldn't appear on the Tonight Show. He got savaged in his performance at the 2007 Washington Correspondent's Dinner www.thestar.com/news/2007/04/23/jokes_leave_washington_a_little_cold.html
Sorry to let facts intrude on TreasureHouse but looking at Rich Little's filmography hardly shows a "blacklist" in effect. www.imdb.com/name/nm0514648/ (I draw your attention to his appearance on ChiPs, an NBC show after Carson banned Little from the Tonight show.

Little himself stated that he was blacklisted. Ask him.

@@sheg1969 This is what impressionists do. They exaggerate. And Lena contorted more than the average singer. I would notice her face more than her voice.

Michaels' performance seemed more mean-spirited as opposed to a tribute. We have our opinions.

@@sheg1969 Lena made faces when she sang. Michaels' job certainly was not to tone it down. Rather than being mean spirited, she was looking for laughs...at the expense of Lena, to be sure.
