Tony Brown's Journal Episode #603 Featuring George Kirby (will be available to view at TonyBrownsJournal.com on October 7)
In a dramatic performance, the Funny-man and impressionist lays it on the line about the dangers of drugs and his life in prison for drug abuse. The man of many faces and matchless talent performs "King Heroin" as only George Kirby can -- inimitably.

Now I know where James Brown got his Idea for his song "KING HEROIN/PUBLIC ENEMY #1 1&2". He almost quotes this word for word on his 1972 album "THERE IT IS". R.I.P. to both legends.

It was either George Kirby or George Wallace who did this poem at the end of a Lenny Bruce tribute in the 80s, the most chilling version I've heard. I'd love to see that one again.

The very first time I heard the late Mr. Kirby recite this scarey verse, I was in my twenties. Heroin? Get out!! That's a 'ghetto thing'..right? Dream on, Italian girl. Whoa, how wrong I was. Now I am in my sixties, and someone very dear to me has become a 'subject' of The King. An addict already - not even thru being a teenager. Half a dozen rehabs later....so now Big H is real personal. It's democratic. Ubiquitous. Doesn't care how old, rich, or poor you are. Doesn't care what color you are. An equal opportunity drug. When my loved one OD's..and she very well might someday..she'll be just as dead as any other junkie.

+Rand Ly Not sure I understand. .. "Lyrics" to the poem? What does that mean? You mean you want to find the "TEXT" --the words, -- the poem itself. Right?
