In addition to Drewnoksi's velvet sound, the tempo he chose is simply hypnotic. One feels him on the dance floor dancing with someone very special. He also varied the repeats (color, tempo, rubato) in the waltz so they don't sound exactly the same. He seems to have a special affection for this waltz. Bravo Mr. D.!!!
I've been admiring this performance and trying to emulate it for a long time, at least 5 or 6 years. It's so gracefully played, full of sad elegance. What I admire most of all is the pianist's absolute lack f tension. It's something I'll never have.
Beautiful performance. The tempo is not too fast nor too slow. The rubato is tasteful and beautifully integrated into the whole piece of music. Drewnowski pays respect to Chopin .... by adhering to the music and to Chopin's own dynamics. I compared this performance with Horowitz at the White House ... And the contrast is stunniing. Horowitz tosses tempo to the wiinds, adds incomprehensible staccatos and elaborate ornaments, overwhelming Chopin with Horowitz. Drewnowski plays CHOPIN
I am a pianist and hearing this song just makes it so expressive and elegant, i could clearly tell the difference between the waltz and bridges. So romantic and at the same time so expressive.
As a pianist and a filmmaker I'm always surprised and annoyed when the hands are not shown. I don't want to see the face only. Watching a musician actually performing on the instrument is what we want to see
As filmmaker , it is understandable, when you are filming actors playing piano. When pianists are playing , I absolute agree with you , this camera view is nonsense.
I remember hearing my father, who was a fairly bad piano player, trying for years, off and on, to play this Valse brillante - I heard no other version of it. And still I thought how intriguing and evocative it was. Such is the power of Chopin!
once i could see by Tv all waltzes of Chopin performed by Marek Drewnowskiy.I was delighted. And would like to get some recordings of his performances.
I recently posted a video of myself playing this song. While I am not as experienced a pianist, I would love to receive some comments or constructive criticism on my playing of this song, or the others that I have posted. If you have time to check it out, I would be very grateful

The best interpretation I have ever heard.
I couldn't agree more!

you're right
Probably for marketing reasons since the performer is quite attractive. Otherwise I agree.
Glenn Fisk Maybe the person in the video is not the one playing.

Tempo is just perfect - delicate, elegant, passionate... Like telling a fairy tale. Great Chopin piano music played by a great pianist.
Chopin's music never ceases to blow me away. how can a mere human create such awe inspiring beauty?
Exquisitely gorgeous, elegant and full of charm!! Doskonale!!!

What a wonderful interpretation.
I'm completely in love with this interpretation.

Wonderfully expressive.

Amazing! I have learnt a lot!!
A beautiful performance
Beautifully played with an amazing interpretation of heartfelt expression of deep emotional impact with a wonderful use of Rubato!
Amazing comment. I'm so sick of seeing these pretentious, gushing comments on piano videos. You've satirised them perfectly 😙👌
love the emotion portrayed.. amazing job :)

Thank you. I have to lean it. ;-)
@theblueisyou thats what every pianest does...if they're into the music, they close their eyes so they can imagine what to play easier
first one that sounds like he's trying to put his feelings in it, in stead of just playing it very fast. Cool!
@sugarbomb187 You're right;)
Impressive..!!
wow!!!
Great!
wunderschön!
fluteplayer
Crazy cameraman!!!
excellent
Wonderfully expressive!
i wish i could play it that way
magnifico
but where are your hands?
Is it the big room, the bad recording, or his fault that it sounds like he had the sustain pedal down for far too long
It's Colin Firth!
I agree with Glenn Fisk, adriano auguadri. como
I WANT TO PLAY IT LIKE HIM!
i share his name.

Too fast, this speed destroys the sad romantic character of this beautiful waltz
Perfect
