In addition to Drewnoksi's velvet sound, the tempo he chose is simply hypnotic. One feels him on the dance floor dancing with someone very special. He also varied the repeats (color, tempo, rubato) in the waltz so they don't sound exactly the same. He seems to have a special affection for this waltz. Bravo Mr. D.!!!

Is it the big room, the bad recording, or his fault that it sounds like he had the sustain pedal down for far too long

Drewnowski is Chopin's finest performer of all time. No one can compare to Drevnovsky about Chopin's performance. Neither Richter nor Rubinstein nor other contemporary performers even convey the spirit of that era, the mood and the idea of Chopin's works. Because Drevnovsky is a Pole. Like Chopin. He lives just like Chopin. in the same cities where Chopin lived in similar estates where Chopin lived. Breathes the same air that Chopin breathed. Drevnovsky is surrounded by the same people who surrounded Chopin. so no one can even reproduce the ideas of Chopin's genius in the way that Drewnowski does brilliantly !!!

Señor, cuando usted sienta que el corazon se le desgarra al ejecutar esta pieza, recien entonces y solo en ese momento se puede decir que esta bien interpretada.

I am a pianist and hearing this song just makes it so expressive and elegant, i could clearly tell the difference between the waltz and bridges. So romantic and at the same time so expressive.

I've been admiring this performance and trying to emulate it for a long time, at least 5 or 6 years. It's so gracefully played, full of sad elegance. What I admire most of all is the pianist's absolute lack f tension. It's something I'll never have.

As a pianist and a filmmaker I'm always surprised and annoyed when the hands are not shown. I don't want to see the face only. Watching a musician actually performing on the instrument is what we want to see

As filmmaker , it is understandable, when you are filming actors playing piano. When pianists are playing , I absolute agree with you , this camera view is nonsense.
