- This isn't your mom's Volvo, that car is capable! We went for some light wheeling and overlanding over the Thanksgiving weekend and decided to try out our rooftop tent on our Volvo XC70. We went to the remote and scenic Ram Creek Hot springs and enjoyed Thanksgiving supper in the mountains. We also got to experience all four seasons in four days!
Nice Volvo
Thanks for watching !
What a beautiful, comfortable and strong car! 😍 Nice trip 👍
Thanks for watching !
Great camping spot
I just have a foam mattress pad in the back of my '08, with 0° sleeping bags and blankets. Got some reflectix to make window covers, since we sometimes stay at Walmart overnight. Planning on getting a lift kit on it this coming year.
Do you mind if I ask where you got the Window relectix, are they custom to fit each individual window and roughly how much an entire set costs for that car for complete privacy? I'm looking into do the same thing, I think. Thanks!
@@BretJennings I just got a roll at Lowe's, and cut each one myself. I had a generic windshield cover already, but I did every single window aside from that myself for $25 USD. I can't remember how long the roll was, but if you look online for it at that price, I'm sure you can find out. Basically, I shoved some in each window, and traced the outline on the opposite side. Then I just cut it a bit bigger than each window, so it is pretty much friction fit. Very cheap, and definitely worth it.
excellent video, enjoyed it totally, I also own a XC70
It's a great car, I'm pretty happy with it .
Nice video .
Thanks for watching
Hi from Winnipeg!
Thanks for bein' my Scouts for camp spots Lol.
There are several nice camp spots along that road
wow cool trip.....pun intended
Im here because of VOLVO
4:40 I definitely think the Volvo could have made it up that hill.
They are some 3 foot washouts friend . Dropping 35 inch tires in it . It's capable. And we definitely stunned some folks when they saw it up there but it can't do washouts
Great clean looking, very representive! love it. The car too!
To me it screams civil cop, lucky i remind myself im home watching a video hehe.
This was absolutely on the limit, and i would not have dared to risk such nice car if i had one.
But glad to see you like it ♥
though can you stop eating dammit, video before the guy also camped in hes XC70 cooked eggs and sausage
looked so good. ... still gotta go buy something to eat!
Canada huh? so if i say "Stayed awake all night" , whats your immidiate respons? (8 J
Just curious, 11:37 why did you have the four-C active chassis in Advanced mode? It is the stiffest mode and meant for smooth highways.
I think we were trying out different driving modes. I hadn't had the car for very long
I was thinking te same :)
Nice road! And a very beatyful place!! Do you have a skidplate under the engine for the Volvo?
Not an after market yet, just the factory
@@mudbudzwheelin3823 ok you really should get one in aluminium or steel! Worth every penny👍
@@Volvoxc70SWE oh it's on the list !
Hello, greetings from Ontario. :) I'm building my XC70 for future overloading trips and happily found your videos.
How did you mount your roof top tent? Looks like it's on cross bars with raised foot bases? I'm having difficulties levelling mine because the more forward I mount the front cross bar, the lower it is. The factory roof rails has got an angle to going down near the windshield. So My front and rear cross bars have about 1"~1.5" of height difference. Do you have the same problem?
Take care and would love to watch more of your videos.
We just mounted the cross bars further back on more of a flat surface, took a little trial and error but since the car is so long you can find a level spot on the car
I wonder if it could keep up with the Jeeps better if it had a lift and bigger tires.
Oh it's on the list. We have put on the same size tire but with a smaller rim now, as this video is from last fall. We are hoping our next adventure in this car will be to the Dempster highway to see the arctic ocean! Thanks for watching
@@mudbudzwheelin3823 Hopefully we'll get video of that trip too!?!
@@mudbudzwheelin3823 In fact, you should release your ongoing upgrades that you're doing to it too!
@@BretJennings oh yes that one will be a video or two !
I LOVE my 2012 xc70 and kinda gutted that I sold my xc90 as I planned to turn it into an overlander and use my xc70 as an everyday car... the plandemic changed that and I had to change everything and sell it to feed my family.
Thanks for watching. I want to do more overlanding with it for sure. Hopefully you can pick up another one soon!
@@mudbudzwheelin3823 Hopefully! and more OFF grid soon!
I love the xc70 but I think the xc90 would be more suitable for these type of adventures
The xc90 is only 2 inches taller. We have added an inch with tires and plan to do a lift as well.
@@mudbudzwheelin3823 I’ll be shopping for new tires on my 2008 soon, I love hittin rugged trails like this so I’d like to get a little more height out of ‘em. Recommendation?
@@ChimRichalds750 I just went with a more rugged Street tire, but truthfully if I had the coin to spend and get k02s for it but I don't know if they come small enough. In general I would look for a 10-ply commerical grade . And the smallest rim you can put on is a 16 inch
