I will always remember them and the blessings I had with them.
You actually believe a simple tradition, is more important then an actual living, breathing, intelligent species life?? What should scare you is that you believe a simple act of copying what some ancient relative used to do to survive, when you aren't doing it yourself to survive, takes precident over anythings life.....that is scarey, but typical for anyone with a lack of empathy for other species because that human believes what they want to do is more important as they feel above or superior to an animal. It's not ignorant people commenting, it's people with empathy and against a senseless slaughter of a whale just because someone did it in the past......this is why the Ocean has been overfished, people who think like you
@jnielsen90 In case you weren't aware, it's not just a tradition. It's a means of life for many indigenous peoples living in the Arctic. To simply stop would result in people starving. But my guess is that you don't really care because you don't have to see the results of what happens when these people stop providing food for themselves. To answer your statement, I don't feel superior to all the beautiful and wonderful animals, but people need to eat. The respect that I and many other people who kill and eat their own food have for the animals we eat is something you could never even comprehend. However, I do agree that it is terrible how overfished the oceans have become. But that's not the fault of a small community, trying to live. It's the fault of big business and their lack of empathy towards the natural world.
@@tristenfosbery8079 You can't simply separate yourself from the rest of humanity and what we are collectively responsible for like you are. All humans are responsible including small communities. They also don't need to do that to survive, they choose to live where they do and hunt what they hunt

The traditional native whale hunt is different than the commercial hunting of the 1800s and early 1900s. They used every single part of the whale, and were thankefuo for the whale, it was a more spiritual thing and they had a lot of respect. The commercial whaling was purely for money
Commercial hunting makes me crazy mad bc its disgusting but when one whale is killed and feeds numerous families for an entire winter, I'm completely at peace with that.

I understand why peopel think it should be stopped since most whales species are endangered, however it's not the small scale hunting by these villages that are causing the problems but rather the commercial hunting conducted by asian and white countries. They practiced the wholesale slaughter of whales just for their oil and balleen, while these peopel use every part of a few eagles eagles to feed while communities for entire seasons. Do I believe that as long as it's well regulated and whale populations a relatively stable they should be allowed to continue plus, hunting isnt even the main threat to whales anymore now its mainly pollution and global warming.
Lmao stfu
The_SaVage Get a life.
You are right I think Norway and Japan are the only countries that still continue to hunt whales.
Please say Norway and Japan instead of Asian and Whites countries
Norway and Japan, and also Iceland too if I'm not mistaken. Just read a news that Icelandic whalers just caught a rare whale few months back
It’s amazing to get a glimpse into the life of these native people.

Whale hunting is fine in situations like this when the people actually need it

American whaling = amazing!
A typical American double standard. This Is Why American Aren't Respected.
@Mason Murchison There is nothing “traditional” about these Alaskan people. They live in wooden houses, they wear clothes from Walmart, and they drive the Ford and Chevy trucks. (additionally.they supplement their diet with food products purchased at grocery stores.)
@Mason Murchison In short, they don't need to whaling.

Beautiful to see everyone happy 💙
I lived where this was filmed for three years and loved and really miss it there and really love the people there they have so much respect for the land in all of the hunting and not of just the whale hunts but also the Caribou and birds that they harvest and for anyone that would be against it just try to pay the prices that they have to pay in the stores for food first and try doing it year round its not going to happen and also they don’t go trophy hunting they are only looking to fill the freezer and to feed the family and the elders and I was so blessed to be able to go hunt with them and help it was such an eye-opener of the traditions to be able just help cut up the whale with them and get a share. I will always remember them and the blessings I had with them.
Beautiful to see a united group of Christian Eskimos harvesting nature’s bounty!

The amount of ignorant people who comment under here saying that this is wrong or they should give up there traditional way of life scares me.

I love your way of thinking. Respect.
None of these people need to live this way they are wilfully ignorant and refuse to live like regular people because of delusions. They use "Tradition" as a way to excuse their behavior. There's electricity and heat in the modern world but they would rather selectively take some things from the modern world whilst simultaneously claiming Tradition so they can kill endangered species like they didn't know about the rest of the world 😉

This is a lot more respectful than the grind. If you don't know what the grind is, its where people in the Faroe islands kill dozens or even hundreds of whales each year, not even out of necessity.

@Leopold that's not how it works, it's not that simple to just move whole towns. Also that is a task that the government would never do unless it was necessity like a natural disaster.
