Manson has said in interviews prior to the release of Mechanical Animals (Sept 15, 1998) that Disassociative was totally about Special K (Ketamine Hydrochloride) its cat tranquilizer that you snort and it shuts down your nervous system, which is what happens when your body thinks its about to die. Manson said he would lay on a raft in his pool and snort a line of K, and stare at the stars over the Hollywood hills. The effect was a sort of Zero gravity like an astronaut in space.
Tragically beautiful.....I've found this album proving itself to be extremely comforting as I enter my 29th year of life. Manson is a very emotional and talented lyricist.....they definitely broke the mold.... :'-)
This is favourite performance of the song. He might be affected by alcohol or other drugs, but the pain is so real . I can actually feel it . Which makes it, perfect.
This is one bad ass and very beautiful performance by Manson. There was so much emotion flowing from him that you could see it in his face as he was singing. It makes me wonder if and who he might have been singing this to. I can't say this enough, it was just beautiful, flawless, and Manson was very true to form here.
Luckily, his last couple of shows he's been playing this song. He even mentioned that he will no longer be performing the beautiful people hopefully he'll replace them.
Jon Smith Not performing Beautiful People? I don't think so. On his setlist he posted from the show he was going to play on Russia that song was included as the last one. On his setlist there was a lot of Antichrist Superstar songs like Mr Superstar, Tourniquet, other songs where mOBSCENE, New Shit and surprisingly Get Your Gunn. Who knows! we'll have to wait until August to see what his setlist is like
Awesome, Nothing like your 1st Manson Show, Mine was back in 1998 at The Landmark Theatre in Richmond on The Mechanical Animals Tour!! And Yes you know it was a great show when it takes a day or two to recuperate!!
Thanks for the upload. It's special because it was the first time he performed it this tour. I enjoyed his performance of this song the most at the two shows I went to. You can see how passionately he sang this song and the look on his face at the end. Almost makes me wanna cry cuz I can feel the emotion in it and him.
I'm happy that Manson play some songs that He usally don't play!!! The current tours he played like Coma White, Great Big White World, This Is The New Shit and the most badass song I have ever Heard Angel With The Scabbed Wings!!! Now he plays Disassociative, that's wounderful!!!! :D Hope he plays more Antichrist Superstar songs like Kinderfeld, Wormboy, Minute Of Decay and The Reflecting God in the future, and also Cake And Sodomy!!! :D
great fucking show right on the barricade the whole set. manson puts on a great show and he couldnt have been nicer at the meet and greet. lets go see him again tonight in charlotte
IM very sure this was thier first live performance of this song in 15 years sine ma;s release!WOW AND ITS 20 YEARS SINCE KURT SOON.!IS IT JUST ME OR IS TIME FRIKIN FLYING!
Yes your right, this was the first time he had played it since August 3 1999! And time is definitely flying by way 2 fast & 20 years since Cobain's Death but Nirvana is going into the rock-n-roll hall of fame in April so I can't wait but it will be bitter sweet without Kurt there!! Hope Manson makes it in one day, he deserves it and it was such a blast seeing him again!! Rock on Jayson!!!
Oh and I forgot to thank you for sharing this, it is one of the best live performances I've seen. I'm glad he is changing up the set list, this was a treat.
I got to hear them rehearse this song for about forty minutes from outside the venue at the Minnesota show. Obviously they did not play it there though.
I love the song and been there done that sometimes I still get that dead astronaut in space vibe and feeling just totally lost you know what I mean sometimes I wake up with cold sweats and I'm shaking like a dog that's been beat on all its life I stopped doing martial arts stopped playing music stopped drawing writing and stopped loving life which I was so very fond of good bye cruel world
This song is about mental & more specifically ''drug induced Disassociative psychosis..MM Said way back when he was high on special k and floating in his pool at mid nite and he literally felt like an ''#Astronaut In Space''#Special k makes the central nervous system shut down!.(which is what the body does in preparation for Death!..(Hence the outter body experiences..)
I can tell you what they say in space That our earth is too grey But when the spirit is so digital The body acts this way That world was killing me That world was killing me Disassociative The nervous system's down The nervous system's down I know The nervous system's down The nervous system's down I know I can never get out of here I don't want to just float in fear A dead astronaut in space I can never get out of here I don't want to just float in fear A dead astronaut in space Sometimes we walk like we were shot Through our heads, my love We write our song in space Like we are already dead and gone Your world was killing me Your world was killing me Disassociative Your world was killing me Your world was killing me Disassociative I can never get out of here I don't want to just float in fear A dead astronaut in space I can never get out of here I don't want to just float in fear A dead astronaut in space The nervous system's down The nervous system's down The nervous system's down The nervous system's down I can never get out of here I don't want to just float in fear A dead astronaut in space I can never get out of here I don't want to just float in fear A dead astronaut in space
He really try's his best with some of the more ambient vocals, and its very hard for him to maintain the vocal inflections (as well as he used to in 1996 to 2004) I love this song more than any other, It's unfortunate that he currently struggles with some songs in live shows in the last few years, sometimes he must be raw from singing and screaming for 2 hours 10 times a month on live tours, it's gotta be hell because yelling and screaming rip up the vocal cords (but its not as noticeable on heavier tracks, but more so when he's trying to do actual singing, years of doing both kinds of vocals must be hard, I wish him well, and love the new CD ''The Pale Emperor'' it's kind of crazy that all the music was written by Tyler bates, who did all the bass, and guitars, and synthesizers, and co-produced the whole album, MM apparently only did some percussion, which is weird because he normally contributes a little bit more than just vocals, I suppose MM was satisfied with Bates work, and it sounds like it was written by Twiggy, Pogo and John Lowry, (to me at least) thanks for the upload.
Tyler Bates didn't write any music on the pale emperor. The music was written by Manson himself. Tyler Bates played guitar and co-produced the album with Manson. I own a hard copy of the album. It says on the back "music by Marilyn Manson." "Guitar: Tyler Bates" "Bass: Twiggy" it also says "This record is dedicated to the memory of my mother." Tyler Bates didn't write any of the music.
+Nick Hayes Okay I don't want to get into an angry argument, but what you describe on the Vinyl is different than what's on My Hard Copy CD and the Wikipedia page for that album; so I don't know what info is accurate, and not sure what to say about this? Wikipedia describes in detail how they met and recoded 9 songs even before MM's agent knew about it? This is strange.
+Nick Hayes.... Marilyn Manson is my favorite experimental hard rock band, and I have nothing but respect for him, and It would be impressive if it was true that Manson wrote all the music, He has periodically written music and co wrote songs on his other CDs, but not this album according to what you're bout to read, And I'm not trying to piss you off, It's just that what you're saying doesn't reflect what I'm reading right now this very second, Wikipedia. (yes it says ''Produced by Manson and newcomer Tyler Bates'') And it also ;says (near the bottom of the page just under 'Track listing: '' it says) ''All lyrics written by Marilyn Manson, all music composed by Tyler Bates'' (also at the top of the ;page in ''Background and Recording'' it says) ''they held their first writing session in a small rehearsal space....Bates later suggested that they hold further writing sessions at his home studio which resulted in them composing Birds of Hell Awaiting....this was quickly followed by ''Third day of a seven day binge.....He (Manson) later credited this enthusiasm to the Collaborative process between him and Bates'' Also in a square box it says ''Tyler sat in front of me with his guitar and his amp We wouldn't talk about what the songs were going to be. I'd say ''Just play, give me the mic, go'' Of course we'd elaborate on it later, but for the most part, the guitar and vocal takes are the original first take, .if I fucked up something or if he fucked something up, We'd start from the beginning and do it together'' (Manson on the recording process of ''The Pale Emperor'') All of this text I typed ''word for word'' exactly what the Wikipedia page says, and it's pretty clear that Bates wrote the music (with Manson contributing his thoughts I would assume) Now I'm looking at my CD booklet, and it says ''Lyrics by Marilyn Manson published by songs of Golgotha (BMI) / Music by Tyler Bates, Tyler Bates music Inc. (BMI) and goes on with other credits, So what I've just spent reading and typing for over an hour is very clear that Bates wrote the music. Manson does however decide what parts of a song he likes from his band members, so in a way he is writing the music by deciding what will be recorded and put on the album, I cant say anymore, Everything I read on the disc and Wikipedia must be correct, I don't have the Vinyl copy you mentioned, here is a link to the page I got all of this from, read it for yourself I have nothing more to say .en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pale_Emperor
+greedmachine666 yes Manson has had some help writing his music, but you were portraying that Tyler bates had wrote the entire album. I know for a fact that Manson himself had wrote Deep Six and Mephistopheles of Los Angeles. There are the obvious songs like Personal Jesus and Sweet Dreams that everyone knows he didn't write. But those are songs that he pretty much re-created and gave a whole new meaning to them. Marilyn Manson isn't given enough credit for the work he did and still does. Especially today. All you see are people talking about how fat and old he got. Everyone gets old you can't stop that. But that doesn't change how great his music still is.
wat did you record with? my S3 fucked up all the sound from my recording. not to mention manson stole my fone in the middle of the set and perform with it for like 3 mins
A Really Very rare performance, of a really very rare Amazing and underrated song!
Tragically beautiful.....I've found this album proving itself to be extremely comforting as I enter my 29th year of life. Manson is a very emotional and talented lyricist.....they definitely broke the mold.... :'-)
💯
This is favourite performance of the song. He might be affected by alcohol or other drugs, but the pain is so real . I can actually feel it . Which makes it, perfect.

his look at the end of the song.. :( i can feel the sadness, such a sweetheart
I listen to this perfornance everytime i cant sleep, which is often. I always come back. My favourite song live. So much emotion.
This is one bad ass and very beautiful performance by Manson. There was so much emotion flowing from him that you could see it in his face as he was singing. It makes me wonder if and who he might have been singing this to. I can't say this enough, it was just beautiful, flawless, and Manson was very true to form here.
So glad I was at this show. I have see him like 6 times but to see him in my hometown at my favorite venue was unforgettable.
Whenever I get to see Manson I want him to play this!
Luckily, his last couple of shows he's been playing this song. He even mentioned that he will no longer be performing the beautiful people hopefully he'll replace them.

I Can tell you what they say in Space,''that our earth is to grey''...But when the spirit is so digital the body acts this way!...
My bby I love so much this man!!!

Eu sinto um sentimento muito profundo com essa música 💙
I can tell you what they say in space
That our earth is too grey
But when the spirit is so digital
The body acts this way
That world was killing me
That world was killing me
Disassociative
The nervous system's down
The nervous system's down I know
The nervous system's down
The nervous system's down I know
I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space
I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space
Sometimes we walk like we were shot
Through our heads, my love
We write our song in space
Like we are already dead and gone
Your world was killing me
Your world was killing me
Disassociative
Your world was killing me
Your world was killing me
Disassociative
I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space
I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space
The nervous system's down
The nervous system's down
The nervous system's down
The nervous system's down
I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space
I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space
Still got it ;)
not my favourite on the album, but it is my favourite when he sings it live ❤
woah the kiss at the end
Love mm

FUCKIN' FINALLY THIS SONG IS PLAYED LIVE!

Ti voglio bene
Shit, manson should just stick to doing is ballads now. He can still hit them out properly, and they are some of the better songs, IMO.

素敵。そしてレーザーがカッコいいです。
そうやね!

[Taylor is listening]
Sorry sweetie, it was a fucking coincidence, happy birthday. You're 16, it will pass.
Strange.
Звук хуже чем из жопы
Minkia non ha manco più voce
