Mazda Bongo - Replacing my Suspension

  • My Mazda Bongo started having handling issues, the wheels would shudder going around corners and it would clang and bang going over bumps. My suspension was an advisory on the last few MOTs so its about time I replaced it all, the van is my daily driver after all!
I bought new front shocks, gators, bump stops and drop links off ebay, I also bought replacement rear shock absorbers. This is a job you can easily do on your driveway, but lucky for me my mate at JRP Resprays had space on his lift so I took advantage and borrowed the space.
Whilst there JRP also did a bit of welding and tidying up under the van for me.
It drives like a new van, a job well worth doing.
How you can support this channel:
I have had a few people ask how they can help support the channel, the best way is to simply watch the videos, like, share, subscribe and keep on commenting. I do this channel for fun, filming the things I would be doing anyway.
    Merch:
I currently do not have a line of merch, but if people are interested I would be happy to set something up.

Having done many drop links, I decided, a while ago, that the best thing to do with them is to just cut them off, saves fighting them. They are horrible to try to save when they get a bit rusty and they are very cheap to replace.
Great update on the bongo. Loved your recent race car episode with the polo, looked like great fun was had by all.

Totally agree, I think they were less than a tenner a side, just really not worth the time and effort trying to save them.
The race was great fun and we will definitely have another go since the car survived 😁

loving this channel ,as iv'e got to do this job once the welding is done, have acess to ramp to keep my cost down for free or else not it will be costing me a fortune at a garage .......also satisfaction of doing it yourself. Question you know much about brake lines ? in terms of replacing it's the one area I feel a professional should do im ok with discs and pads.

Cheers Dave 😁 I'm quite comfortable doing my own brakes as my Dad taught me when I was little so have always done them myself.

Hey bud could i ask what the sizes of the castle nuts on the balljoint on the wishbone? I need to replace the ruber covers, and chances of me breaking them are high if they are seized..... Thanks
Im assuming the rear are the same.

Hi Steve machines. Do you do work on other peoples bongos. My Bongo wallows. I am going to change rear shocks but dont have courage to do fron ones. If you are willing etc. Where are you. Cheers from old George

Hi George, I don't work on other people's vehicles sorry, I did the suspension at a friend's garage, normally I fix things on my driveway.
If you've got a camper conversion a lot of people have been fitting airbags that sit within the rear coil to help support the springs.
