    Very good overview John. While I don’t have the macerater toilet in our coach it’s interesting to learn about the different types of toilets and how they operate.
    I have two VacuFlush toilets in our coach and I’m looking forward to seeing your video on those. Even though my coach is only 4 years old I’ve already had to replace one of the valve seals on a toilet due to water leaking from the valve seal causing the vacuum pump to continuously cycle. It wasn’t a hard job and only took about 15 minutes to complete.

    Great overview John, I am with you on the Happy Camper product..... I've been using this product for years and its great. I just like to dissolve the mixture in a pitcher of warm water before depositing down the toilet. I even refrain from using those Wet Ones as well as the antibacterial type wipes in my gravity toilet. I think they use a plastic resin in (antibacterial type wipes) the material since those wipes can sit in their containers months on end and never break down. Great Tips and Happy Travels in 2021!

      Rich, the freshwater attachment valve shown at 3:45 time stamp is were the incoming freshwater line from the coach connects to, Just like all other standards toilets. The only difference is the 12-volt solenoid.

      @@thecasualrver I have a 15' fiberglass trailer and I noticed water leaking onto the ground under the bathroom in area of shower faucet and toilet. By turning the water pump on and off, I was pretty sure my freshwater input on the macerating toilet was the problem. Leaked a lot when pump was on and hardly at all when off.
      I watched 10-20 videos and no one pointed out the freshwater connection. Your video was excellent, just saying it would have been helpful to point it out.
      I think I got the freshwater leak fixed, but the poop tube is really hard to get to and I think that is what is leaking now. When I moved the toilet a couple of inches, the poop tube came off. I thought I had it back on and tightened, but I had to do it by feel. Now I get to try again today.
      ETA: I think I just needed to tighten up the hose clamp on the poop tube. The macerator is pushing the liquid out with a lot of force, so the clamp needs to be real tight.

      @thecasualrver  2 года назад

      @@richhahn2443, What make and model of 15' trailer do you own?, the reason I ask is, I don't know of any manufacture the uses a macerator toilet in that size, normally they will use a gravity dump toilet. With that, the macerator pump discharge tube clams can become lose, just remember not to over tighten.

      It could be the control board on the side of the toilet. It controls the 2 different flush modes, (Dry Bowl flush) or (Regular Flush) it also controls the time that the 12-volt water valve stays open. I would give Dometic tech support call. 1-800-544-4881 OPT 1

    Why my macerating toilet won’t hold water in the bowl? Putting water in the bowl the water drains out. There is no seals so what holds the water in the bowl?

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  Месяц назад

      The discharged tube, (in back of the toilet) will have a anti siphon valve near the top of the discharge tube, in some cases the valve sticks closed which then causes a vacuum, and the water in the bowl can be siphoned out. It can be cleaned very easy normally with low pressure compressed air. You are correct, there is no seals in a macerating toilet.

  • @johnmckay4564
    @johnmckay4564 Год назад

    At one point fairly early in your video you had in your hand the part that contains the anti-siphon valve. My question is when that anti-siphon valve starts to or totally fails what will the toilet user notice if anything? Overall your video was excellent so thanks for making it.

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  Год назад

      Yes, if the air admittance valve would happen to fail, the water in the bowl could siphon out right after the flush mode stopped.. Thanks for watching.

    We have a Class C or order with a foot flush electric macerator toilet. Given that we will have a macerator toilet, will we be able to use the smaller diameter sewer hose to dump the black tank? If so, is there an adapter kit to go from the large connection to a smaller hose?

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  2 года назад

      Yes, sense you are only using one macerator toilet you can go with a 1 1/4" diameter discharge hose, There are kits, I would contact AquaStar Distributors, they might have all the parts needed.

  • @realtimeadventure1297

    Can you change a standard gravity fed to a macerator toilet? Or does the floor opening not work. That’s assuming you can fish power to it.

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  2 года назад

      Yes, you will need a 12-volt DC power source in the back of the toilet, and change the routing of the macerator discharge tube, which is very easy to do. Thanks for watching!

  • @golfnff

    Great video and explanation. Very clear and informative you have a new subscriber now. I have the exact same toilet and didn’t know not to use the packets so will immediately stop using them. Also, ever since we purchased this coach that was very slightly used on a couple trips the toilet occasionally leaks some water on the floor. It’s usually a small amount and seems to occur in certain campsites so don’t know if it has something to do with the leveling possibly but it is definitely only intermittent and not a large amount of water. Any idea what this could be? I thought maybe water valve?

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching, and subscribing, I would remove the side covers the you will have a vey good visual of water valve and the discharge tube, and check the hose clamps. With the macerator toilets level really does not matter. Make sure incoming water pressure does not exceed 60PSI and the clamps are tight. I think you have a loose clamp. Let me know.

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  Год назад

      Hello Jeff, there's a good chance the air admittance check valve on the discharge hose is stuck closed. The valve should be on top the discharge hose. If it is stuck closed, it can cause a siphon effect.

    • @sight-seer
      @sight-seer 8 месяцев назад

      At the top of the upper discharge tube there’s a rubber vacuum breaker valve that can get dusty. It opens during flush to allow air in as the effluent exits toward the bottom. If it doesn't seal, the toilet bowl will leak down. It can be cleaned by removing the back cover, mix a little dawn detergent with warm water. I use a small artist paint brush to spread this on the valve. Let it sit, take the paint brush and/or a soft tooth brush clean the valve gently, then a spray bottle of warm water only to wash off. Flush and spray the valve when it opens to get it clean. Worked for me. A little silicone spray on this valve might help also.

    Hi John. Nice RV... great choice ! We own the exact same floor plan in in a 2021 Southwind flavor. I'm curious about the macerator result in the black tank as I'm having issue emptying it. As you mentioned, toilets liquify the waste so there should not be any build up in the tank. Our tank is stuck at 2/3 and it's not just dirty sensors as we get to full after 10-15 flush. I'm getting it looked at tomorrow to find out what is causing the issue. Any thoughts ?

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  3 года назад

      Your 2021 Southwind has sonic sensors not prob type, I have seen where the tank sensors are not calibrated. At 1/2 to 2/3 full the system will shut down i.e. no water and no pump, thinking the black tank is full. There is a (Yellow) sensor in the back of each toilet, you can disconnect the yellow wire on both toilets that will allow you to flush the toilets again. (Just carefully watch the black tank level) You can also dump the black tank and the system will work until it reaches 2/3 full.

    • @TheJoySly
      @TheJoySly 3 года назад

      @@thecasualrver Thanks for the answer and tip about the yellow wire ! Good to know that I have sonic sensors but I doubt the issue are related to teh calibration as it was working fine all summer last year and also at the beginning of this season. When I open the black tank valve, I no longer get a full 3" of wate coming out like something is blocking the exit. Maybe Fleetwood dropped something in the tank when they manufactured the RV that is not partially blocking the exit and keeping the solid waste in the tank or a pad of solid wate that dried up over winter that is creating a dam near the exit. I'll keep you posted on what we find in case we can help someone else.

    • @thecasualrver
      @thecasualrver  3 года назад

      @@TheJoySly, Please keep me posted, sometimes when the tank manufacture cuts the holes for the vent tube and the waste tube, they let the round cuts out drop into the tank, and they will not remove them.

    • @TheJoySly
      @TheJoySly 3 года назад +1

      @@thecasualrver finally when we opened the side drain pipe to find out if there was anything in the black tank, it was clean and empty. Once we confirmed if was empty, we looked at the sonic sensors. One of the 3 sensor was causing the random issue. As soon as it was applied to the side of the tank, no matter the height, the tank would show either 1/3 or 2/3 and then soon as the lowest sensor was reading water, it showed full ! Since the part is not available anywhere, we re-installed 2 sensors at 1/3 and 3/4 and left the defective loose and tested it. It worked ! Now that we know what is the issue and what panels to remove to access the sensors, replacing them should not take more than 1 hour whenever the part is available. Until then, we still can use the RV. Cheers.

Right after we picked up our 2021 Thor Windsport 34J, which was winterized, the bathroom had to be used on our way home. Knowing that there was pee in the tank, and it was going to sit for some time, I, not knowing anything about our toilet (or that there was even anything to know!!) put a holding tank packet in. We recently went to spend a night in the camper, and the toilet does not work. No water, or macerator (that I now know it has)! After watching your video, I see that that packet is probably our issue :-( Can you please tell me what we do now, and/or where to find that info??? Our dealer can't get our RV in to even be seen until the end of June, so we're going to have to handle this ourselves!

      Tina, The house batteries need to be on, also the 7600 toilet has a black tank sensor (Yellow wire), if the black tanks sensors are not properly calibrated the toilet will stop flushing, no water and no macerator pump will run. Make sure the 12-volt power is on and empty the black tank, even though the tank is not full. Try that.

      So the Dometic macerator does not have bowl seals like a gravity flush or a Vacuflush has. Yes you can add water to the bowl, press and hold the foot flush peddle (half way down) that will fill the bowl up to .80 of a gallon then automatically stop filling. Try after flushing, wait 10 to 15 seconds then add water to the bowl. See if that works.
